*** Official November 2018 Thread - It's Turkey Lurkey Time! ***

I didn’t realize how early it gets dark in Orlando this time of year. I just checked and it looks like we are having a 530 sunset every night next week. I guess they don’t close things just because it’s dark, I have little ones so they will probably think it’s cool getting to stay out and play in the dark :yay:
I live in PA and sunset tonight is 5:06pm. It makes my kids sleepy earlier, like by 7pm...I'm hoping the excitement of being at Disney will keep them up later!!

Same here! I never thought I would be preparing to try and keep the kids up till midnight! (Christmas party night) haha. They’re 5 & 2. Vacation bedtimes don’t exist right? Haha

We are more morning people, so I've kept my kids waking up at the daylight savings time since our trip is in two weeks. Our DST is the same as Orlando's EST. It's actually kind of nice to have the extra time in the morning right now and hopefully will help the kids adjust quickly to Disney time!

Ugh, since the time change I wake up everyday on the dot at 6:30am, even though my alarm isn't set to go off until 7:30. I keep telling myself that if I can just do this for 2 more weeks, I'll be all set when I'm at Disney so I can be ready in time for rope drop! LOL

For you Southwest folks, keep checking those fares, I just rebooked the same flight and got a nice credit for our return the Sunday after Thanksgiving! It's the 2nd time I've done it since they released the dates back in May.

Our flight into MCO on Thanksgiving morning is the exact same price. We paid with points, and our return flight on Dec. 2 is cheaper, but it keeps coming up with an error that it can't process the change. It says to call, but with all the points needed to book these flights for 5 people, and the total credit due being 1450 points, that translates to what? like 15 dollars total? To me, that's not worth the hassle of calling in and waiting on hold and potentially screwing it up.

Can someone tell me what to really expect as far as thanksgiving week. We normally come in the Saturday after thanksgiving and by Monday the crowds are dying down. I'm not worried if we don't do all the big rides we aren't newbies, we are just squeezing in one last trip before our AP's expire on the 26th. Is it so many people you can't walk or is it do able, or is their a time of day that's better? I know we will do our meals off peak times to avoid some of the crowd their. I'm just trying to get a general idea of what it's like.

We have been several times over Thanksgiving usually coming in the Fri before and leaving the Sun after and have not found it too bad. We have been a few times the beginning of Dec and the crowds seemed about the same. We make ADRs and FPs in advance and usually get to do everything we want.

We are here and it's hot! It's 87 and humid today with a real feel of 93. We lasted at Epcot until 3:30 and are resting before we head back to MK.
I was in EPCOT, too. I agree on it being hot and humid. I had to laugh when I saw the report on accuweather because it said 87 “hot and humid” and that’s exactly what it was. We left early, as well. The crowds didn’t seem too bad today, which was nice! I was able to do everything I wanted to do today, and more!

Most of our group arrive before noon but we are coming from Oregon, so will be there much later. Fingers crossed they can get our request to be on the same floor granted. Hope you can check in early! Wish it didn't take us so long to get to Orlando! We have a 5hr 15min flight non-stop, the best we have ever managed! Yea for no layovers!

Has anyone called with the reservation numbers and let them know that you are all traveling together? They will normally try to accomodate people traveling together if they know ahead of time.

I got my exam out of the way today, not sure I passed it though :( I won't find out until next month.

In any case, now I can focus on packing!!!
I had to finish exams before leaving, too. Hope we both did well... :)

I flew back to the US afterwards & now my body has no idea what time it is. Hopefully I will adjust in time for Disney... in

days!

4 more days!!! Next week is looking a little more cloudy/rainy. Hope the day I wanted to go to Typhoon Lagoon stays warm :)

Just checked in for our flight tomorrow and my 13 year old got the random tsa pre check.

It's almost time to go! Weather doesn't look the best for next week. I guess I'll take a little bit of rain over the snow in the forecast for home.

We called and they have our reservations linked. Of course, no guarantee that we will be near each other. I'd be happy if they can even get us on the same floor. Either way, we will have a great vacation!

Booked my trip yesterday! Leaving Saturday! I decided I needed a Disney fix stat. I found 9 nights at a value resort with passholder discount. Someone must have canceled. I haven't been able to get any good fastpasses but I'm confident I'll get some with refresh on the day of.

We will be running on adrenaline our first day or so, especially our middle son. We have a 6am flight (3am wake time) Thanksgiving morning, with dinner at about 2, then heading back to resort to get settled, then DS9 has the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Dessert Cruise with my parents (who would have already been in the area, so no extra travel for them). So he's gonna have about 21 hours awake....then 8 am MK EMH the next morning, staying till 11pm close, then a full day at AK (although 8:30 start instead of 7am EMH), before finally sleeping in on Sunday....but Sunday is our MVMCP day, with a RD turnaround at DHS for Jedi Training signups. The rest of our 5-6 days after that are significantly better, though.
