Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

Do the resorts still allow Uber drivers to pick up and drop off customers in front of their lobby? Two years ago, we stayed at the Beach Club and used Uber several times with no issues being picked up in front of the lobby. I have an opportunity to get an Uber GC for 1/2 the price thru Groupon and would love to jump on that for our trip next summer since I won't be renting a car this time around with all the resort parking fees now in effect.

Yes. Uber drivers can go anywhere the general public can go, and they can drop off and pick up at the BC lobby area.

Should be in the first post of this thread.

Thanks... It's been a couple of years since we've been to Disney and since that first post was dated back to 2015 wanted to see if there were any changes.

Hi I have ubered a bunch over the years at Disney but never tried Lyft, is it just as easy? I have a promo code i’d Like to try but curious as I don’t hear much about Lyft other then the Minnie Vans which I’m not interested in paying for. Thanks for your insight!

They are virtually the same service.

Plus, a vast majority of the drivers drive for both, based on the stickers I see in the car windows.
Honestly, if it wasn't for using a different app, there would be NO difference in them at all.

I am attending an event in Winter Park on the last Wednesday of this month (NXT wrestling at Full Sail University). Attendance isn’t large for these events, maybe a couple hundred so I wouldn’t expect a bunch of drivers to be cruising the area waiting for the show to end. I currently have a rental car reserved at Dolphin for the day but really prefer not to drive.

Should I have any problem finding a ride at 11:00 pm that would be willing to take me back to my WDW resort from Winter Park?

We were at WDW in May and called for an Uber at Epcot. We were completely unable to figure out where the Uber drive was and ended up having to cancel the ride since the driver's description of his location described a landmark we were unfamiliar with. (Sorry, I forget what he said.)

Could you please, in detail, say where the pickup location at Epcot is? Yes, it would be easier to go to the Boardwalk and get picked up there, but that's a long walk from Future World, which is where we were in May when we exited the park. Also, I saw the description in the first post and I actually don't know where the Mears cabs pick people up, so a really specific description would be very helpful. We're headed back in a few weeks and Epcot is the one park where we always seem to wait forever for a bus, so we'd like to be able to Uber it instead.

It's at the same location as the car charging.
You go straight out the gate, under the monorail ramp, and keep walking till you see the car charging stations, with a covered seating area.
You can always ask any CM who should be able to point you to guest pick up spot
Another advice I give, use Uber to arrive at the park. Then you know where pick up is.

So happens, I posted a map some pages back

@AngtiTN, Thank you! I asked this question a few months ago but since our trip is next month I started wondering if anything had changed. The map is so helpful--and your advice to take Uber to Epcot is so good! That is now my plan!

I don't think you'll have a problem. Winter Park is a good spot for drivers, with lots of students, lots of upper middle class folks, and lots of popular restaurants & bars. WDW is not so far that drivers will be reluctant to take the ride.

We will be there over Thanksgiving. Will there be any issues using Uber or Lyft during that busy time? We want to go resort hopping to see the decorations.

Should be lots of extra drivers in the area. No problems anticipated. Minnie Vans may be hard to find, though.

I want to be picked up for early morning magic at Hollywood Studios (leaving from bay lake tower) around 6:30 am on Dec 10th. Can I pre-schedule this ride? Or do I have to just wait until 6:20 and hope there is a car around. Do Uber/Lyft run that early?
