2019 Princess Half Marathon Weekend

I was too although I didn't sign up for the 5k so was REALLY hoping she made the 10k cut. :) Ah well.
Same!
Only other thing besides being disappointed about not having Tiana this race (I'm still running as her :) ) is that the challenge medal just looks weird to me. Looks 'fake' for lack of a better word. Or cheap...that's it. Wish it was cleaner like the 5k but hey I thought the same about W&D 2017 and was surprised when I seen them in person so who knows. All in all I'm running them regardless and will have a BLAST and sport them with pride.

It almost reminds me of one of the 2018 race pins. The face on the character looked "off". Almost like the same company made the 2019 medal. Or the photography is incredibly poor. :confused3 The medals are usually really nice, so I'm also hoping they look better in person. I guess we will find out during Marathon Weekend.

The 5K looks somewhat childish to me, though I'm sure it will look better in person. The others all look great, and I look forward to seeing them all in person. Squee!! (I won't get to see the kids ones unless someone next to me is wearing one. I am too old for those races, LOL.)

Elena of Avalor for the 5k? Didn't see that one coming at all. Jasmine, Mulan, and Aurora, though, are not a surprise. Just don't really like the medals this time around. 2018's medals were great, especially with the spinners. I feel like 2019 is a step down.

My thoughts: Why have a TV Princess over Tiana... on her anniversary?! I just don't understand at all!

That makes a lot of sense. Her movie came out in November too so that could definitely be it. I was just hoping to see her represented in the Princess run. Maybe another year. If she shows up on a Wine and Dine medal I’ll have to live vicariously through those lucky runners lol.

Hmmmm make sense and now I have to see if I want to stress myself out to at least go down for one race but be my luck I'd pick the wrong one. LOL! Ugh! Decisions, decisions. Got a 10 miler on Oct 26th, going to F&W Oct. 11th for the weekend and then Vegas for a half Nov. 15th. Can I squeeze in a quick trip and run 3 races Oct. 31st???

I'm so upset at the medals!!
I only signed up because I didn't do it last year and the medals were so awesome!!
And now this. Elena looks horrible and she's not popular enough to be placed in a medal.
Aurora looks ridiculous running like that. They could've made her so much prettier.
I'm ok with Mulan, it doesn't look that bad and Jasmine looks bad ***.
::sigh:: that's what I get for not running last year.
Also, did the Dark Side challenge last year and the medals looked so cheap!
I feel like I'm having bad luck at picking races lol

Soooo I am not crazy about the half medal at all. I love Aurora, but she looks so tense and uncomfortable. LOL. I had already been debating if I even wanted to spend the money and vacation time to do another Princess weekend and this might have swayed me into the pass category. :confused3 I love the Jasmine medal, but I am definitely not planning on another challenge weekend this year #notamorningperson.

Those medals are quite the letdown. I loved the half medal last year and after seeing the challenge medal, I regretted not also doing the 10k. This year, though, no regrets not signing up.

With the 5k, I don't get Elena at all. And even if I did, her eyes are doing something freaky on the medal. I suppose the 10k medal is okay, but I would like Mulan to look different. She looks like she is running for her life instead of being the tough warrior we know her to be. The half is ugly and cheap looking and ridiculous. Why not take a page from last year's apple and do a rose or something? Aurora looks ridiculous in that odd run pose. The challenge medal is clearly the only good one here.

My family and I really like the medals ..... my DH and DS are running the 10k only but they are happy with the Mulan medal as its not too Girlie. Don't know much about Elena but my daughter and I plan to watch her programs!

That’s a tough call! I definitely won’t be able to make my way down there for wine and dine but I’ll be cheering everyone on and wishing I had a Tiana medal lol. I know it’d probably be bad for Disney but I wish they released the themes in advance. If I was only going down for a chance at a Tiana medal, I’d have to run all 3 races because I’d be soooo upset if I chose the wrong race! (I say that now because I haven’t experienced running 3 races in 3 days yet, I’m not sure how I’ll feel about it once I actually do it :rotfl2:)

They actually did mention the themes for this year’s Wine and Dine well in advance. It was in the descriptions on the website that the 5K would be Lady and the Tramp and the 10K would be Sebastian and Chef Louis. I can’t remember how early but I’m pretty sure those descriptions were up before registration opened, and if not it wasn’t long after. It was definitely way before medals were released.

Oh that’s interesting! I wonder why they don’t do that for all of the races. If they did that for Princess weekend I would’ve only signed up for the challenge, but I’m still looking forward to running all of them.

Ugh if they do that AND I can tell and have time to register I may be pulled in. LOL! After all I have an AP. :)

Has everyone submitted proof of time?

I actually can't remember if I submitted it or not lol! I kinda remember doing it right when I registered, but would there be a place to confirm I submitted it on the runDisney website? I couldn't see when I just checked. I guess I will find out for sure when I get my corral placement haha! I ran this year's marathon in the last corral (best friend forgot to submit her POT) and it was honestly just as fun as when I've run closer to the front.
My 2 cents on this year’s medals:

I’ll start out by saying that I loved last year’s medals. I did the 5K and 10K, and had medal envy over the half marathon (I’m not a huge Snow White fan, but I LOVED that medal!). Even though I’m still new to runDisney, I figured this year’s medals wouldn’t be as exciting because last year was an anniversary year. This helped lower my expectations a little bit.

I don’t love the medals this year, but I don’t hate them either. I signed up for all of the races because:
1) I wanted to do my first half marathon in Disney
2) If I’m doing the half marathon I might as well do my first challenge :goodvibes
3) I was actually expecting to see Tiana and Aurora on the medals, and I didn’t want to suffer FOMO on the 5K medal if Tiana was on it and I didn’t run that one!

I love seeing Mulan and Jasmine, and they make complete sense with the new movies coming out. In my opinion, they should’ve made the 5K a Tiana themed medal because the 10th anniversary of her movie is in 2019. I have nothing against the Elena character (I honestly know nothing about her lol) but I think she would make more sense on the kids medals.

In the end, I’m really excited to be running all the races and earning alllll the medals!:cheer2: I’m sure they’ll look better in person regardless, and I will wear each one proudly around the parks!

You worded what I was thinking perfectly. I'm so excited to run in the magic even if these medals aren't quite as exciting as years' past. I'm sure they will look much better in person too!

Yeah, you can't see it anymore since it's past the Proof of Time date & there is no where to confirm/check it. If you really want to know if you did you could email/call and ask if you did enter something.

Caught a little cold, so today I finished week 4 of 10K training. Sure it’s halfway through week 5, but that’s ok.

Pretty psyched about that so far. And my feet and ankles don’t feel like they are breaking anymore. Woo!

Of course, I’ll have a hilly 15k to complete the week after princess, but i’ve done that three times already (always the weekend after Princess) so I think I’ll be ok. I hope. The last 5k of it is mainly downhill anyway lol.

Hi everyone, I hope you all don't mind me joining in! I just registered to do the Princess 5K with Autism Speaks. This is a cause I am happy to support and I can never plan far out enough to sign up for these races anyway!!!

I have a question for you all, for the 5K it says the race starts at 5:30am, but when do later corrals actually get going? I'm just trying to plan my morning and need to know if I have to check out of my hotel that day of the 5K, if I will be able to finish the race and still have enough time to get back to the resort, shower and pack up to leave (and possibly even squeeze in a nap after getting up so ridiculously early...) Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I will be staying at CBR which I think (hope) is one of the resorts that they have busses to after the race, right? TIA for any advice.

With the 5k the last race busses leave the finish area at 9am if that helps judging time

Hey yeah that helps a lot!! At least I know even if I catch the last bus I can be hopefully at the resort before 10am worst case. Thanks @1lilspark

I wouldn't count on a nap, but I'm a slowpoke and managed to get back after a *half* to get showered and dressed and out the door. Now, I had then-husband and my son packing everything and getting most of the stuff ready to go beforehand (they were heading off on the bus for my son's mile run and then I met them there using our rental car), but I certainly could have done that the night before if I were alone.

So you'll be fine. Just maybe not for a nap. :)
