I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I did ours a week or so ago, it took 1-2 days to credit.

I have two instant pots. Don’t use them as much as I should but I love it when I do. I do brew iced tea in it every few days. I drink a lot of tea. Love making pasta in it and I do large quantities of chicken to shred for various things.
Now I’m intrigued. I always just use my Keurig to brew tea. Off to look for a recipe.

I actually don’t know the answer on this one. Are you looking to top off some points in a P2 airline account? (That’s the only reason I can really see why it would matter...if I’m missing a reason why you’d want to do this though, please share)

My son is AU on my CSP. I know I can use my airlines rewards account to book his travel. But if I wanted to transfer points to his airline account (say SW for example) - can that be done?

Catching up before checking out of SSR, but thought I’d share our travel hacking success for this weekend. We decided to go see the Hamilton exhibit in Chicago and the show too while we are at it. There is a cat 5, 35k point per night Marriott property we are staying at with the free night cert. The Blackstone, an Autograph collection hotel. The rate is $259 per night for the room we got so that is an awesome return on the AF. One more reason I won’t be cancelling the Marriott or SPG cards. I’m pretty stoked about staying at this hotel. The architecture and history are what sold me. I was all prepared to just pay using URs and then imagine my shock when I discovered it is bookable with a free 35k night cert. We booked flights via the Chase portal which finally allowed me to book flights I actually wanted so I am somewhat mollified and will refrain from my usual disparaging remarks about the Expedia platform ... for now. I will do a review on the hotel either during or after our stay and add it to the hotel thread.

Off to the parks before heading back to the real world. Happy Sunday Dischurner friends!

I see Marriott is on the Barclay shopping portal. I have reservations in Hershey for Easter weekend. If I go through Barclay for the reservation, how will that work? Will it track the future reservation until I stay there in April? They are offering 6 pts per dollar so awesome return.

Can't speak for Barclays, but Ebates tracked a Hilton reservation booked through their portal and awarded the cashback some weeks after our stay. However, check the fine print, because some portals and partners have restrictions about how far out the reservation can be to qualify.

I just saw a FB post of a shirt that is perfect for you. It was at disney of course...said "curly hair don't care" with a Merida bow/arrow. So cute.

Have fun on your trip!

@Lain - thanks for your help. DH tried setting up another account, but Ebates wants access to our AMEX account (username and password LOL) so that's a dealbreaker for DH. He's big on security and this is way over the line.

It's your husband's account, and his field so I'll let him make his own decisions.

I didn't think too much of it, because how else would Ebates deposit the earned MR points into my Amex account? They can't exactly mail one of their Big Fat Checks.

I've used Ebates for years, and similarly I've given it access to our PayPal account because that's where my cashback payments get deposited automatically every quarter. I just found that much easier to deal with, faster, and safer than having a check mailed to me.

Again, I'm not trying to start an argument. Just my experience.

Did you still earn your hilton points from the stay? I keep meaning to do this for DH, but he books on his own and won't take the extra step. He has been letting me book his hertz thru ebates and send him the confirmation but will only relinquish so much control at one time. :teeth:

This is a $300 per night for $95,$99 or $125 (future biz) as once taxes are added to the $259 you are easily at $300.

Not this hotel in particular but the same idea is why I keep my cards. There are some awesome redemptions out there.

I do realize that because of time and commitments not everyone can go somewhere nice when they just feel like it, but a couple of these certificates are very nice to have to supplement the points - yeah I know the points are more 'free' than the annual fee for the card but, once you earn the Amex bonus, that's it folks and who wants to continue spending on these cards now that Marriott has killed the 3 points? I kept SPG for 18 years without a free night because it was a good card to begin with before Marriott. The free night made it a keeper even with Marriott's other changes.

@calypso726 enjoy the show again! Did you read about the San Francisco show?

No recipe, I just fill it to the very top with water, toss in 12 tea bags (I like my tea dark) hit steam and walk away. Once it releases I let it sit to cool for quite a while, toss in lemon/sweet and low and fill up my 1 gallon pitcher. Then it's always ready to pour, I drink a LOT of iced tea each day LOL.

I have to say that I'm with @mmmears husband on this one. Maybe it's because I'm older and have certain fears, but I don't cotton to the idea of an entity having my account access, even if it's just a credit card.

last week I made 'refried' beans in there, dry from the canister to ready to eat in 45 minutes:flower1:
How long do you cook them? And how much beans/water? I like to make beans for chili or soup, but using the IP I often get beans mushy and over cooked on the bottom and a bit undercooked at the top.

me too..... I can cook stovetop rice flawlessly also (my Puerto Rican bff's Mom taught me years ago) but my sweet baby rice cooker also gets used 3-4 times a week,it's so simple and perfect. so only two gadgets really but I use them nonstop. ( I just wish I had the room for a kitchenaid mixer)
KitchenAid on the counter. Bread machine, rice cooker and food processor in the pantry cabinet. Crockpots, IP and everything else in the basement BC our kitchen is tiny.
Are you doing natural pressure release or manual? Always do natural with meat or it dries out.
Natural. But it’s just chicken breasts I dislike. I use chicken thighs for anything in slow cooker or iP because they don’t dry out or get stringy.

Nice. The Blackstone is beautiful though I’ve never actually been inside. I’ve only seen pix of the inside and the outside has interesting detail.

Do you know if we should be using a certain card to purchase? Does Raise code x3 like the CIP does for gyft?

That’s one thing I don’t know. I’m using my CIC card currently merely because I’m working on my MSR.

I'm not aware of any card that consistently earns more than 1x on Raise. Last year, CF had Apple Pay as one of its 5x UR bonus categories, and you can pay with Apple Pay on Raise, so several of us hit Raise pretty hard that quarter.

Can someone walk me thru the Best Buy/Swagbucks process? I rarely shop at Best Buy, and I have a Swagbucks account but pretty much gave up since I can’t watch 20 videos a day to get points. However I am in the market for a new laptop and Best Buy is one of the options, so I want to maximize return if I buy there. OTOH I may buy at Costco and just use CIC for the 0% interest.
