Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Does anyone know if they have reduced bus service to/from the Skyliner resports? If not then that might actually be a fair option given the large number of guests that have switched to the Skyliner. I'd love to know what the bus lines going to/from Pop/AoA look like at peak times now that Skyliner is open.

Another way to look at it is that if you take the gondola from EP to HS, then at least you can sit and rest for a bit rather than walking the whole time. I know it takes longer, but your feet may thank you as standing in line doesn’t hurt quite as bad as walking long distances. Standing takes a toll on your back though, so it’s really a “pick your poison” situation here.

I agree that the main reason many will take the gondolas will be to go from HS or EP to their hotel which is on the gondola route. However, I do see the appeal of standing in line and riding versus walking when you’re tired. If time is your main concern though, then walking between the two parks is probably the way to go.

And this discussion started with a "worst case scenario" for the Skyliner of leaving Epcot right after "Epcot Forever" ends. If the Skyliner is closer to a walk on (as it seems to be most of the day) these numbers change dramatically. Travel Time: Epcot to CBR: ~15min, CBR to HS: ~6min + 5min to transfer at CBR and you can plan for around 30min getting between Epcot and HS.

My understanding is that they did reduce the bus service because of the gondolas.

Thanks for the link. I noticed in the video the lady having to fold her double stroller.
That's a bummer for us - we were hoping to be able to push our sleeping kids onto the Gondola like we do the monorails.

I wonder if this is more because of how long the line is at that time, so they want to fill the gondolas up as much as possible.

It's hard to tell from the video if this family was specifically asked to fold up their stroller but, as long as a stroller fits into the gondola unfolded (which all should if they meet Disney's width requirements) they do not need to be folded.

If the stroller meets the guidelines it doesn’t need to be folded

The stroller size for the Skyliner is also the new size limits for the parks

I was watching her closely too... was really, really hoping to see her roll it right into the gondola!

I don't think the gondolas are meant for going between epcot and hs. It seems either walking or the boat would be much quicker.

The main purpose of the godolas is to get a large number of people from some of the largest resorts on property to/from 2 of the parks as efficiently as possible

BUT they definitely can also be an efficient way to get between DHS and EPCOT. as for if it is quicker than other means, a lot depends on the lines/wait time. The travel time should be comparable to the boat, so comes down to how long you have to wait for a boat. If one pulls up right as you get there that might be faster, but I think it most cases the gondolas would prove to be slightly faster. As compared to walking, depending on your pace that could be faster - but then, you are walking vs sitting for most of the journey

They have not as of yet as far as I know.

Good to know. I honestly hope they don’t. It’ll be nice to have multiple means of getting to/from those resorts especially for those who do not want to ride the gondolas.

Skyliner from POP is currently not loading due to “technical difficulties,” as I was just told. I asked if I should just take the bus and the guy said yes. Wah wah. On the bus the HS now.

I should note, the line is running, they’re just not putting people on them.

I cannot for the life of me remember if I posted this since I’ve been here. but here’s what the bus stop signs say. After a few seconds a time pops up. It makes me assume they’re sending less eventually.

That’s interesting - so they’re straight up saying take the skyliner. Hopefully transportation won’t be hit or miss with the combination of infrequent buses and a non functioning skyliner line.

lt takes me 18mn using the shortcut and walking very briskly. Have to account for ride time too- so depending on walking pace, with a 17mn wait walking will be quicker for some.

People were freaking out over the extra 1/4 mile they had to walk from the buses to DHS while they built the new loop and now you think they would rather walk 17 minutes than waiting?
