We went Thursday. Got up at 5:40, my wife was not happy about this at all. Took a cab to HS got in line. They opened the park at 7 and we headed right for the GE entrance. I had my iPhone, she had an iPad and we logged on right at 8. She was locked out using the At&t iPad, I got most of the way through on iPhone Xr with Verizon, then spinning circle, I started hearing cheering all around me and started to panic. Closed the app, reopened and looked at my watch it was 8:00:55. Reopened and got boarding group 66. We got on the ride at about 1:25. There was 20 - 30 delay at some point but we got on and absolutely loved it! My wife even said it worth it. Also, we didn't get FP's for MF and just got in line for that when they opened the doors. We got on that in about 30 minutes. Great experience all things considered. Really want to thank everyone on here for helping me get ready and letting us know how to prepare. Hopefully when we come back with the kids it won't be as insane of a process. Hope everyone is able to get to ride, it really is fantastic, and a nice way to let you know what the possibilities could be with the hotel/interactive experience.

Can the conclusion be drawn about the backup BGs starting at 8:01 a.m. only? That is what I have been reading and experiencing for last few days. Of course, the upside has been the backup BGs lasting longer and the cut-off reaching past the 1/2 hr mark! A bit of a relief for our 1 day visit on Fri, April 10th.

I'm guessing the first 120 groups fill up as soon as park opens, then with the good days they add more available bgs, which allow them to be available longer as people trickle in after 8.
I’ve been lurking on this thread. We’re not going to DHS until the end of May, but we’ll only have one day at the end of a Universal trip. My son is 11 and has been a huge Star Wars since he was 3. I seriously considered canceling the Disney portion of the trip when backup BGs were going in minutes. I’m so glad that the backup groups are lasting longer. We’ll still manage our expectations, but I feel like at least we have a chance to ride. Thanks to all of you that have shared your experiences! They’re super-helpful to those of us who are still planning our visit to GE.
Welcome! We'll be at Disney the week before Memorial Day, so I too have a lot of time to wait.

It sounds like even without a RotR boarding group, galaxies edge itself is worth the price of admission. Plus, don't forget all the other star wars opportunities like star tours, launch bay, build a lightsaber or droid, eat at the restaurants, and if he doesn't feel too old for it, train to be a jedi!

DHS Thursday will be cold AND windy---hoping this means even fewer crowds and hoping this lucky streak continues.
...but not TOO windy. We're just there that day and hopping to Epcot for EPCOT Forever. Only shot we will get to see it, ever. Would hate for it to be too windy for that operation.

Regardless, recent BG trends are great. I don't think it's a lucky streak rather than I think the really poor streak was what that was. It seems that it has operationally overcome that difficulty and emerging stronger on the other side. Still, it is a current positive trend that *could* reverse at any point for a day or string of days, but let's continue to douse it with pixie dust!!😀

Practiced from work today (my boss was thrilled). But on iPhone 11 with data. Worked perfectly. Waited till 8:00:01. Hit pic. No red boarding sign. Hit My status. Join boarding group was blue. Able to get through like 4 times before I got the something is wrong message. Feeling optimistic about our trip in 2 weeks

I think it will be worth it even without RotR. He’s read the Black Spires book and is excited to see the Batuu. I think our chances of getting a MF FastPass at 60 days are slim, but we’re prepared to wait in line. Fortunately, MF seems to be pretty reliable. He does have a Droid Depot reservation, and we have a reservation for Oga’s. He and his sister have both done Jedi Training twice already so we’ll probably give that a pass. We love the Chewie meet and greet, though, so we’ll do that and any other characters available. I just feel better about dragging my husband and daughter along with the backup BGs lasting longer. I know that the ride can break down, and we’ve definitely had that experience at Disney before. We only go to Disney everything 3 or 4 (and my husband insists that this is the last trip) so it’s a bummer, but that’s life.

The question came up yesterday about the crowd level. According to TP the actuals for yesterday were a 10/10 for HS. So it wasn't lower crowds helping the BUBGs last as long as they did. That's a great sign for spring break (as long as it wasn't a unique situation caused by the marathon). If the system can handle CL 10 while still offering backups for 30 minutes, it should help reduce everyone's frustration.

Guys, I have been reading this thread for months. I know no one other than DISers will understand, so I just had to vent here...

Arrived friday for a short girls weekend and to run the 10k. It was cold but I could see the weather was looking up! Froze our buns off but got the run done and hit MK for a bit yesterday but I was so ready for this monring at DHS!!

Woke up at 3:30 and started throwing up. 😭 I had to send my friend alone with instructions to get herself a BG and she got 92 and is now enjoying the parks while I lay in my coffin room at POFQ and feel sorry for myself that I only had 3 park days and at least 1 is ruined. I would have to make a pretty big turnaround to feel better enough tomorrow morning (last park day) to try to get a BG. So sad!

What makes it worse is that we literally lysol wiped down the room and every ride we went on yesterday my friend wiped down the railing too(she is verythough rough! Lol) first world SW problems!

If you have a party to add to your boarding group, are they added automatically when you go to join the boarding group, do you need to add them all (adding extra time)

10/10 and nobody wanted to ride RotR? I don't get it.

Sorry to hear this. I have been there, but for me I am pretty sure it was food poisoning. It was attacking both ends. (sorry) Nobody else got sick. It really stunk to get sick there because I almost never get sick, I mean in years, so what are the chances?

Actually, it was both ends for me as well, I was trying to not be too graffic and bog up the thread. Lol!!! I considered food poisoning but felt like with all the people it was more likely a virus. Hmm. 🤔

This was common during the holidays. They lasted longer because of the increased hours, earlier park open, and more BGs given out. Basically, everyone in the park at opening got a BG and there were ones available still for people trickling in. Not all 10s are made the same (based on the way that TP calculates things there were certainly fewer people overall in the park this week than Christmas but because of shorter hours, the wait times are as long for a smaller attendance). And not everyone wants to get up to be in the park before 8. The same reason RD works.

It may also have been that a lot of the attendance was driven by runners and their families who were probably not in a position to be at HS at opening. That may have skewed the data. If so, we'll probably see a return to BUBGs going really fast again tomorrow.

I am gonna take anything TP says about HS right now with a massive grain of salt. There have been too many changes in the last few months for them to have any kind of consistent data. I mean, it’s always a 10 at HS right now compared to 1 year ago.

For predictions I agree with you. For the actuals, they are taking the wait times as seen each day. In February alone the actual CLs vary from 3 (Feb 1st) to 10. So no, they are not calling every day a 10 based on comparisons to last year.
