Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Yeah but it is going to be a lot worse this time "Last time I was here I was allowed to do X... and now you're telling me I can't?".... "last time you came there was not a pandemic going on".. "I'm sorry but this is disneyworld. Pandemics don't apply here. I demand to do what I did last time"

It will be like the people complaining it rained at disneywold and ruined their trip times 100

I want to reply saying that people will have common sense and courtesy when the parks open and realize what is going on and be accepting that these rules are in place for a reason...but I can’t. I wish Disney would allow their castmembers to lash back at the entitled guests without legal recourse.

But that’s not the rules yet. That’s what YOU think the rules should be. I still think Disney will make concessions for age & disabilities as they do with most things & like most other businesses are doing. It is hysteria if you (collective) are that afraid that we can’t tolerate a handful of ppl who can’t wear masks for valid reasons. It should be pretty easy to social distance from those few ppl.
Being uncomfortable, hot, angry, not understanding why the mask is used, etc. are all not valid reasons and Disney will have to be prepared to tell a lot of people no. That is why I think "reasonable accommodation" for the over 2 set is not going to be no mask at all, but an alternative barrier. They know that everyone will take advantage of loopholes if they can. Why? Because on any social media source all we hear about is people being upset about masks and looking for loopholes.

Ban strollers next. I can't get my head around stroller parking and social distancing.

Wow. 99.99% of the guests I've seen at DW and DL have been awesome. Never witnessed someone complain to a CM that I'd consider "entitled". Perhaps I'm not in the right area at the right time.

Yeah, if they are limiting capacity at the resorts, then the amount of people at the pools should reflect that (assuming the parks are open).

And the reason the guest services CM's have jobs is to resolve issues from guests. I always dread going to Guest Services, but sometimes situations warrant it. I personally hate complaining and I do get pissed when other guests complain over non-issues, and just because they are loud, they get this and that extra.

Me personally, if I do end up going on my July trip, I will complain over the price of memory maker. It honestly isn't worth the $169 I am paying if meet and greets are a no go. I am personally fine with foregoing the fireworks, parades, and shows. We naturally try and stay away from crowds in general (DH hates Disney crowds). I am withholding making final judgment until there is official word from Disney, but there should be some sort of extra incentive for guests given the presumed reduced experiences.

Obviously this pandemic is not Disney's fault, and they reserve the right to cancel experiences etc etc.. but their prices are seriously out of control these past few years and have soared past inflation rates to a ridiculous degree. Disney needs to offer something to its guests. They can't continue to charge the same rates when the demand is no longer there.

Oh No, if I've learned one thing from following this forum is we, as humans, are a treacherous lot. And stupid too! Totally incapable or wholly unwilling to follow the simplest of directions.
IF there is any saving grace at all, it's that cast members and policy makers are cut from a different cloth and need to be followed to the letter, to the letter I say!!
heh heh
Not sure if this post will last too long, but I got a smile writing it :)

Diagree a bit with the last statement. Short term disney needs lower capacity so lower demand is a good thing. The best way to control demand is pricing. So normal pricing and restrictions will naturally reduce demand which is what they need in the short term. Then as they remove modifications demand will increase as they have capacity to handle it.

If you are able to go would you be willing to post on the AOA thread in the resorts board what the status of the LM room refurb is, if you see anything? A bunch of us were following it but had no updates after 3/13.

:rotfl2:

I've been checking that thread nearly every day for two months to see if anyone has responded to that post. It has been repeated and bumped and no one seems to know about the status of the refurb on the LM rooms.

This is so different from the time the Pop rooms were refurbished and it was updated by the hour what the status on those rooms was.

One of the reasons I booked the LM rooms was because I was looking forward to staying in the renovated rooms and fully expected them to be done by June.

I wonder if they have done any reno on the on those rooms since mid-March. I would think reno would have been something they could easily have done while social distancing. In fact, many people I know have been getting reno projects done in the last couple of months because it was about the only thing anyone could do. If they have, no one seems to know about it.

Of course I will be glad to report back about the status of the renovation- if I actually go in June. They may not be open at all, but if they open and have only one or two parks, or if they actually require face coverings, I may wait and go in July to let some of the fervor die down.

Good Lord, some of you sound like you want Disney to be a prison rather than a source of entertainment..CM’s allowed to lash out, ban strollers, no special needs accommodations...I’m really glad guests aren’t allowed to make the rules.
And if I had to guess. most with some of the most outrageous suggestions don’t have a dog in the fight.

So speaking of modified experiences & pools - what do we think the resorts will be doing? Typically there is a resort activity calendar and all kinds of things going on, pool games, tie dye short making and the like.
We were planning for our thanksgiving trip to be resort only plus a sprinkling of Disney springs - planned prior to the pandemic - with the idea also that we could resort hop and look at the Christmas decorations (bc I’m super cheesy like that) and shop at the other resort stores (Boutikki, I’m coming for you) - but would that even be allowed? Just thinking - we know theme parks will be modifying but what about resorts?
I hope the gingerbread house in Grand Floridian is still going up but who knows?

honestly strollers will probably help with kids social distancing too, trying to bring it back to the actual topic.

coming from someone who doesn't have kids and sometimes felt some frustrations with the amount of strollers not parked in appropriate spots causing major traffic jams during a very busy time I was in DL last year. (the exceptions of stroller owners, not the usual, totally understand the need for them).

at least that way kids will have a place to sit where parents have a little more control over them while they move through the park. seems to make sense, as long as they're generally courteous about it, which most are :)

The country has 15% unemployment right now. People are struggling to provide basic needs to their families. The demand is not there and Disney won't have any issue trying to reduce capacity. Most people (who have no idea what the DIS is) are not clamoring to get into Disney right now.

Oh and still use a stroller for my 6 year old. Disney is the only place we have ever used our double stroller. I am definitely going to have him ride more this trip too to reduce him touching stuff. He has memories from his first trip to WDW at 18 months and his other trip at 3.5 and talks about Pop Century all of the time. He watches the Disney Food Blog videos with me, and I he has had cried many times in the past few months over Disney being closed. We are also DL passholders. There is no perfect age for Disney, jeez. How dare you bring young children to Disney?!? :P

It's been reported (rumor) that CMs have been telling guests that they can't book or modify June reservations because they "are at capacity". So this can either mean capacity=0 (June won't be open), or enough people have trips booked and Disney can no longer accept additional reservations due to the limited capacity (whatever that may be) that they will open with. In other words, IMO there will not be a problem for Disney to reach capacity on any day they open. Everyone wants out of months on end of quarantine, even with restrictions.

Good question! And not something we have discussed on this thread much. I am guessing that face painting at AKL is going to be out . . . . Maybe they could do mask art?

I don't think they will be able to have pool games, but I don't know. We were given pool guidance for our HOA that said no pool games were allowed. 😕 I am not sure why. You could play Disney trivia or Name that Tune and maintain social distancing. I guess anything you have to touch that others touch is out- like hula hoop contests and Bingo.

Are marshmallow roasts out? How about outdoor movies?

Resort activities are so much fun. It will be sad to see how many of them don't exist for a while.

I don’t think I agree with this. I think the demand is there. No the disboards is not indicative of all disney visitors however I don’t think the lower class is either. Now obviously millions are without jobs currently. Many of those are hospitality, and entertainment type positions. I don’t have numbers but disney targets the middle middle and middle upper classes. I don’t think a lot of those upper middle class jobs have been lost at this time. Many of those people are still working from home sort of as “normal.” Once they are allowed to go and feel comfortable doing so I think they will.

I myself am not out of work completely but have lost work due to this and am still planning trips as “normal.”

The people that think strollers are a problem are the same people who are going to be rude to other guests for any perceived infringement of social distancing and/or masks. Always wrapped up in self righteousness too. "They won't remember it" = "I know what's best for your child"

If Shanghai is any indication . . .

I agree. With such a drastically reduced capacity, they will not have trouble filling rooms or parks- at least, not for a few months. People are ready to get out. They need somewhere to go. Many things will be closed this summer that they were going to do, like summer camps and sports activities. Overseas trips cancelled. Cruises cancelled. Theme parks will likely be popular- especially with those whose financial resources have not drastically changed.

My only issue with the "At capacity" thing is the whole month hit capacity the same day and time? If it was really capacity wouldn't some days hit capacity first and some be open? I think it is just something easy to have CMs say to people for now and something hard for guests to argue with.
