New York will issue an emergency order requiring travelers from states on the quarantine list to fill out a form providing their local contact info. If you don't fill out the form, you'll get a summons and a fine of up to $2,000, Cuomo says.

Murphy won't be far behind. But man that is going to be tough to implement. Checkpoints on the Turnpike and the Thruway? At the bridges and tunnels? PA is getting very close to getting on that list....

At least Florida basically only has I-95 coming in from the north...

Filling out the quarantine forms is for air travel. Cuomo made no mention of it applying to road travel at this time.

I saw on Facebook someone came from TX (flew), lives on Long Island, filled out the form and got a call from a contact tracer. She was informed to isolate within her house and her family needed to do the same. The contact tracer texted her daily. The weird thing is she said she only gave the cellphone number but she did get called on her land line.

New York is not effing around with this.

Her family had to quarantine also? Did her family travel with her or do they have quarantine because they are in the same household?

My next trip is in October. I'm sure the restriction on NY, NJ, and CT residents travelling to Florida will be lifted by then. Fingers crossed that by October, New York will allow me to return home without going into home quarantine. I won't be able to do that. I'm a DVC member so if I cancel I need to do it before Sept. 8th or will risk my points.

Same household. Didn't travel with her. She was on business in TX. I got the impression they wanted them in separate rooms with separate bathrooms. Not sure how that worked out. However I could have read it wrong and they meant for her to stay away from her family for 14 days. I actual read this on the Disboards Facebook page.

Not sure, perhaps a hand off? NY seems to be the only one really enforcing the "return" quarantine with any gusto.
NJ and CT will probably have the same orders this week. All three states have been working together.

I agree the three states will probably all do contact tracing of some kind. I just didn't know how it would work if you enter one area, but go to another. Conceivably, you could fly in through a tristate airport, and go directly to your home in a nearby state with no quarantine requirements. Would the contact tracers continue to monitor if you go to PA or RI? I'm also trying to figure out if CT has a testing-in-lieu of quarantine provision. I believe NJ does.

We have two vacations coming up. One is later this month to a current hot spot that I was hoping see improve, but it's not looking good. I had Florida planned for the last week of August, but that won't work because the kids won't have 2 weeks available to quarantine before school starts. So now we're looking elsewhere, but I'm worried that the place I pick now might turn into a hotspot sometime in the next 6 weeks. FL wasn't in bad shape back when I first booked, and now look at it. Everything changes so quickly. Except Florida's ridiculous EO - that seems to go on forever.

So what happens is you fly into JFK or LGA, but live in CT or NJ? Does a contact tracer from NY still call or text you?
I would think the answer is yes. The way that I interpret that is it is dependent upon what state you fly into. If you fly into any NY airport, you will be followed by a contract tracer in NY. SO MANY folks who live in NJ, CT fly into NY. Previous posters are absolutely right, Murphy and Lamont will most likely impose high civil penalties as Gov Cuomo did. My issue is by having a contract tracer call the traveler on a cell phone phone to "check in", what are you checking on?
Most folks today don't use Land Lines, so how is this going to be enforced using a cell phone? For all hypothetical purposes, the traveler could answer his cell phone and he could be at the beach. Enforcement is an issue certainly.
