It's flight origination for Florida, and NY probably uses the same concept. It's where you came from, not your connecting city, ID, or state of residence.

So I live in NJ but I have a direct flight to FL from a PA airport. Am I to understand then that I don't have to quarantine?

if this is true then we can do the same instead of driving. with flights being very cheap for the week we are supposed to head down this may be the better option anyway. I wonder if that other guy who posted a few pages back that was due to arrive in Disney today made it down. Does anyone know if the checkpoint on i-95 is still active?

I can see the downtown Philly skyline from my local supermarket that sits on an elevated piece of land. We always fly out of PHL anyway. Sure would be nice if what JimMIA says is true!

Does anyone know if the checkpoint on i-95 is still active?

I crossed the Florida border going north to see my family on June 20th and saw the checkpoint active, but when I came back on June 27th, the checkpoint was not in use. I haven't seen any official information about it either way, so I was surprised not to go through it on my return drive, but I don't know if that was a permanent change or if there was just something special about that day (both times I went past were on Saturdays and I think it was close to the same point in the day, so I don't think it was a matter of the day of the week or the time.)

I will say, even when I passed it while it was active on the 20th, it wasn't backed up nearly as far as I had expected to see it, so from the brief view I got, it seemed like they were possibly handling it well.

WKMG-TV News 6 (CBS) in Orlando is one of the news stations I emailed this past Monday, early in the morning! I asked that *someone* please question DeSantis about his outdated EO.
From the article: "News 6 emailed DeSantis’ spokesman twice on Monday about the confusion surrounding the executive order but did not receive a reply."
No reply. Soo surprising... NOT!

I honestly get the feeling he does not want to admit he was wrong... you can google the little victory dance he did a few weeks ago before Florida became a flaming hotspot. It was in bad taste then and from my perspective completely classless... people sick and dying does not warrant a celebration. Maybe that’s just me.

But for him, his pride and image must be preserved. Admit he was wrong? Can’t happen. Instead he would rather continue a politically motivated travel advisory that is counter intuitive and let people from hotspots in. And look down his nose at offers from other states for supplies and assistance.

People will die who didn’t need to... to preserve this mans pride. If that isn’t throwing Floridians under the bus, I don’t know what is.

If our motives are pure and actions/decisions have firm basis, we WANT to defend ourselves, at every given opportunity! Shout it from the highest roof tops so that we are understood! That's just human nature. IMO, his silence speaks volumes.

One of the saddest parts is that he has some Floridians convinced they are protected from the virus with this quarantine. There are comments on some of the articles and internet content from individuals that reflect that view. So sad.

So I have been checking the clickorlando site once in a while since crazymomof4 posted it. Today I ran across this article from 2 days ago:

The surprising part of it was this bullet point from the south FL mayors:

- More help enforcing the travel ban that requires travelers from the Tri-State area to self-isolate for two weeks upon arrival in Florida.

So even the mayors (who I'm sure are of different parties) think it's important to stop travelers from one of the safest areas in the country and they don't care about those coming from hotspots. I am so confused by FL's politicians. Hopefully the news outlets will keep pressing the question.

Seriously. Are they all just living in this vacuous realm where they haven't taken in any updated info on the Covid national "picture" since roughly end of March/early April? Anyone with a shred of sense would realize that Covid, being an ever-fluid situation, would require a plan of action that is also fluid and evolves to meet current needs. Not the same old same old from beginning to end!!!! Geez!! ETA... I sure am glad they are all putting their heads together down there and getting something accomplished.
