Resort Change by Disney

We paid to transfer to Riviera too. It seems like the best option of the deluxe resorts open right now (still has all its dining open, skyliner transport to both parks, nice pools). Fingers crossed! It's our first time at a DVC resort so interested to see give it a try.

haha, I hope we are both happy! I really wanted the Poly but oh well! ;)

Called today about our stay just after labor day. We were moved from Beach Club water view to Yacht Club water view, with a slight price decrease.

I'm trying to decide when/if I should call to find out their offer--I have a room booked at POFQ from 11/25-12/2 for myself, my husband, and my grandson. We chose FQ because of the size of resort. My grandson has some special needs and the smaller resort works better for us. Any ideas on alternates that might work as well?
There really aren't any other moderates that would fit that. I would strongly stress that reason as to why you booked FQ in the beginning and hopefully they'll bump you up to a smaller deluxe.

Ive posted this in my own threads but felt like it was relevant here! Back story, I was booked for WL for September this year & April 2021. Called to cancel September & was told by CM that WL is closed for 2021 as well, and that I should look into changing my room ASAP. She offered me a Deluxe Studio Savanna view @ Kidani Villas, but I didnt accept in the moment because I was thrown off by the change. She gave me her 7 digit extension but I was never able to get in touch her again after that.
Wanted to update this one because I feel like something exciting happened. (At least for me lol!) So I decided to wait bc I felt unsure about what to do, and didnt call the CM back right away to get the Kidani room. Tried a couple weeks later but never could get her & hold times were ridiculous. So one random day I thought to myself, let me call & see if they still offer this type of room to me. So I called, held forever, and this time the CM said, We’re sorry, we should have never offered you the Deluxe Studio at Kidani bc we’re not allowed to change room types for price protection. (I was being price protected as long as I didnt change dates bc WL doesnt have an opening date). They said they could ONLY offer me Boardwalk Inn standard & thats it, no other option. They said after Boardwalk gets fully booked, they could start offering Beach Club standard. I really wasn’t interested in Boardwalk so I chose to wait & see again. A few days later, I see an announcement that Beach Club now does not have an opening date either. I decided to call again to see if there were any changes to what CM had to say. This time I explained again to the CM that I had been offered Kidani Savanna view. She was like Sure! Let me try to get that for you. But, It wasn’t available!!! I was like Oh no!! Thats a bummer. She said do you want me to try anywhere else? I said I know this is a long shot but can I get a Polynesian room? I think its similarly priced to what I was being offered in a Kidani Deluxe Studio Savanna view. She disappears & comes back & says I can do a Poly standard view room. I said can you do a Deluxe Studio Villa room? Since thats what Kidani was & she said No. I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to, bc I had my hopes up for the Kidani deluxe studio, and was hoping I could still be offered another Deluxe studio. So she leaves me again for like a half hour, had me worrying/wondering if she wasnt gonna get back on the line. Well she did and says, OK youre all set! You have a Polynesian Deluxe studio standard view room, price protected.
I was ecstatic!! This feels like an upgrade to me!! From a Nature View WL room, no?? Ive never stayed at Poly but I hear great things, and the price of that room is definitely higher than what I was going to pay at WL! Im quite excited about this and HOPING SO MUCH April is far enough away for things to be more normal!!

The fact that they came back to you with a bit of a downgrade hoping you'd be excited to get price protection drives me nuts. I know it's nothing huge, but the mindset argh. They tried to pull the same thing with me acting like they were doing me a favor moving me from a family suite at AoA into 2 rooms at Pop. I passed, but it's aggravating.

I realized this when I called about our December stay at BWI. They said I would be price protected but I was looking at prices (rack rate) and I have a bounce back offer of 30% off deluxe. I saw that I could stay at YC for less if I just moved/changed my reservation so I just walked away for now. I guess I could have gotten Poly for a bit less with price protection and GF outer building too but I’m not sure I’d be happy in an outer building and I know all poly rooms are outer buildings. so I will wait and call again. I actually wanted to shift dates by a day or two so our original promo might be our best bet

All Star Sports, preferred ... moved to ... Art of Animation, 1 bedroom ... moved to Riviera, 1 bedroom.

October 11 - 14

Wow, this seems like the most amazing upgrade I’ve seen so far. The rack rate for a Riviera standard one bedroom for your dates is $880+ per night.

The Coronado Gran Destino Tower seems like it might be nice for you - it has self-contained food and bus stops right within the tower and even more food within a less than 5 minute walk. With the added bridges across the lagoon, nothing felt as far away to me as it used to. I’d hope for that.

Maybe request a preferred room in CSR or CBR so that your grandson is not overwhelmed with feeling he is in a big resort? I would stay away from the FW cabins because there isn't a preferred option.

Parent of a child with multiple disabilities here- Not sure of the nature of your child's needs, but I am in a similar situation and Disney is being cooperative with me, so I recommend explaining your struggles.
We booked at AKL bc my son uses a wheelchair and we wanted a one building resort. He's also autistic so we wanted indoor hallways and good amenities for days he needed a break. And no internal bus loop.
I haven't been moved yet, because my reservation is a third party booking, but I've already spoken to Disney Wholesale division and when they move my reservation they are going to call me to discuss what would be the best option.

Normally they try to keep you in the class of resort your booked in, but if they can't get you a preferred room, don't be afraid to push for something better.
I would agree that Gran Destino Tower could work for you, as well as Riviera, because it's one building. But regular Coronado is huge, don't take that.
OKW and Saratoga can be very spread out, like CBR.

I'm glad I held out. I was walking this morning listening to Disney music and decided I might as well give it another try and listen to the Disney hold music lol. So I called the GS line, got through after about 10 mins. Explained my resort wouldn't be open. She put me on hold without really asking any questions etc., came back and offered a 2 bedroom villa at Kidani village at AK. I couldn't pass it up. We've really never had an interest staying at AK, and don't think we'd ever pay to stay there, but couldn't pass up the upgrade. We've stayed at 2 bedrooms at BLT and they're nice rooms with lots of space. I'm a little concerned with the size and CS options, but definitely can't complain.

Started at Sports, was upgraded in June to AoA family suite. - At that point we ended up adding an additional person to our stay since we had the room. Now ended up eiyh2 bedroom at AK (debating about inviting another person now lol.)

If you don't like the first option they give you; I'd call back.

On Mon. on GS line I was offered cabins or 1 room at CBR. I specifically asked if any villas were possible and was told no. I passed. I was still on hold on a different line - on the regular line (hold time was long Mon,) and when I got through the CM first offered me cabins and then 2 connecting rooms at CBR (I would've taken,) but when she put me on hold to confirm with GS, they said because of my party makeup (6 ppl, but one is 2) I'd only qualify for 1 room. I passed.

On Wed. I called regular line again and was only offered 2 connecting rooms at Pop. I passed.

Today I called just to see and couldn't pass on the awesome upgrade so I took it. It'll probably be the only time we stay at AKL so we're excited just to try something different.

Also, the CM this morning said that since it's our 2nd move they'd be sending us $100 egift card closer to checkin. I know there have been othet reports, so not sure if it's the CM you get or if all who get moved twice are getting it etc. We have a different trip and had to move twice and there was no mention of a gift card etc., so not sure, but just wanted to report.

We had booked a quick little trip Oct 1-5 for my sister's birthday. Trying to make this a cheap(er) trip, we booked a family suite at All Star Music. They are remodeled, so it seemed like a good option. We were just going to wait and see what we got when they contacted us, but decided to call today. They only offered one option- Saratoga Springs 2 Bedroom Villa. We are so excited about the extra space in the 2 bedroom and the full kitchen and laundry in room will be nice. Crossing fingers that our request for a refurbed unit is honored! I have a feeling this trip will have more downtime at the resort because of heat/masks and a one year old niece. It will be nice to have the space and pool time.

I called in today to ask about when the final payments are due and about cancelling the park hopper. The CM informed me that I would need to switch from CS, which I already knew but was just waiting for the call. We are scheduled to travel second week of September. He offered CBR preferred room, but I told him I was unsure of that resort. Since we were in Gran Destino Tower room and didn't want an outside room during hurricane season. He assured me I could wait and when a CM called me about the switch then I could make up my mind.
I checked MDE later in the day and it looks like I was just switched to CBR. I called back and the CM confirmed I had in fact been switched. She was nice, but all she offered was a bunch of resorts that are all exterior rooms, or resorts that would be much higher in price. I confirmed with her that since he just switched me that would mean I would not be getting a call and would be in a sense stuck with the CBR room. She told me yes, but that I could call back if I decided I didn't want to keep the CBR room. I'm bummed that I was switched when I was told I could think about it, and that the only thing I am offered is having to pay more for another resort. I would guess asking about the park hopper is what caused them to switch me.

I certainly hope you at least got refunded the difference. CBR really is quite a downgrade from what you had. Honestly, I'd keep calling and try for something better. I'd be beyond upset that a cm moved you without you agreeing.

Ugh, this thread is such a tease since I'm booked with UT, and cannot do anything on my own behalf. I'm booked at ASMo in November, and assume I'll be moved to Pop, but I kinda want to KNOW.

Just 2 of us!

Great for you guys! Glad to know someone with only 2 people at All Stars Sports pref snagged a 1 bed at Riveria. And maybe that elusive egiftcard for the 2nd move.

I have 2 AoA family suites at 6 ppl each in Dec and hoping resort stay closed so I can upgrade to two 2 bed villa at RIV. I can only dream, right? From the thread, lots of interesting options (FW cabin, 2 rooms at POP, 2 bed villas at SSR-OKW-AKV) for the family suites depending on CM. I won't know until Oct if resort will open. Hopefully the country in safer place by then.
