This wasn't an organized protest. It was result of anger over supposed misinformation spread about a police-involved shooting in Engelwood and then it just turned into a giant summer looting event.
A number of factors - anger, frustration, the lockdown, job loss, boredom. And with Chicago Public Schools not opening, it's only going to get worse. Many children/teens will not have the means or supervision to go to school remotely. No easy answer for the school situation.
There is no one group to point fingers at and place blame. Everyone is at fault. Chicago is a mess and all sides need to come together to try and fix this.
Very sad all around. Questioning if we still want to live here.
