I’m at Disney right now and their safety protocols are still the same since they reopened, which is really good. It’s my fourth time here since they reopened in July. I’m not a FL resident so I fly each time and I’m more worried about being at the airport and every where else than Disney. However, if you have underlying issues or are hesitant to travel, I completely understand. You should do what works best for you.

I took issue with it then and I take issue with it now, especially at a moment when things are getting worse, not better.

People can have different levels of safety and comfort, but when you run an ad campaign promoting the distancing measures in your parks and then you start reducing those measures, that's no longer just about personal comfort. You're misleading people, and they don't even have to. The Guests in the parks now, myself included, may complain about long lines but they're not canceling because of them.

As I've said before, when you play with fire, you're bound to get burnt at some point, and as someone who wants the parks to continue to be open and decently-attended, that worries me.

They're not closing those Parks. NO WAY, NO HOW. It's is full steam ahead folks. Dice are rolled on full vaccination by Summer. Thats just my humble opinion...

That’s not what I’m saying. We can’t just look at this as all-or-nothing. Just because something’s open doesn’t mean people will come. January and February are looking to be very, very soft already. I can’t imagine advertising to people that they can come and distance and then cutting back on some of those distancing measures really is going to help that problem.

I said “Not that it’s not a huge issue”. It doesn’t negate the fact that there’s a clear and present double standard. There are plenty of people that stayed quiet on the issue when Universal and Seaworld started doing it, and maybe if there was more backlash for them, Disney wouldn’t have started doing it.

Having to use the CTA here, I think I'm desensitized to every row being filled on rides.



We are going end of April/early May and I expect the cases levels, hospitalizations and deaths to be VASTLY different by the time we go, in a good way.

I'm not sure we'll see a big difference that soon, but by end of summer/fall, definitely.

For a part of the population who have a concern, they should please stay home and stay safe, it's a choice they have.
For the rest of the population who are willing to go to the parks or any tourist destination and are comfortable, have fun.

This of course is as long as the destinations are letting people know ahead of time exactly what their safety and sanitary protocols are so people can make a choice.

There are hundreds of thousands of people out of work who need to get back to work. If there are people willing to go to any tourist destination based on the safety and sanitary protocols they have in place they should be aloud to.

They aren’t doing it to make people cancel either. It’s to operate more efficiently. Many rides have added plexiglass between rows as a safety measure and to help load more people.

I just read that WDW has done away with social distancing on some rides (namely Expedition Everest, Rockin’ Roller Coaster, and Slinky Dog Dash). What does everyone think about this? It is certainly making me more nervous about our trip next month.

I’ve heard this as well. I was pretty disappointed when I learned this. I wonder if this is based on lower transmissibility likelihood as they are all fast moving rides. The loading part makes me particularly uncomfortable.

Except it's those people who continue to put the at-risk people, at risk. Because even the at-risk people can't all just "stay home" and never go out. We still have to go to doctors, groceries, work etc... It's largely the "I'm not at risk so I'll do what I want" people who are driving the infection rates sky high.

Which makes sense with the plexiglass, but to do it on others because they feel like it kinda defeats the purpose to begin with.

I think youve missed the point on this completely. Even if people did as youre asking, they cant avoid those people who went to Disney when they return to work or go to the local grocery store. The issue here is that the general population cant be protected because people and companies big and small are not holding up their end of the bargain, which is why America has struggled more than many places.

Right. Long lines flowing into walkways were more of a hazard imo so this is a way to fix that.

You are right, people at risk have do have go to the doctors,groceries stores,work etc however we are not talking about those activity's. We are talking about people going to tourist destinations. For someone at risk, for their own safety, they should minimize their potential exposure. Going to any tourist destination may not be an essential activity for an at risk person right now.

Yes, but then they just jumped over caution and went "back to normal". When the US was warned over and over again, that opening back up didn't mean "back to normal" and that caution still needed to be exercised.

But, caution was flouted, and instead house parties, crowded beaches, no mask requirements, full churches, lack of social distancing etc... etc... To be honest, I don't see it so much as a fault of the people per se, as much as a lack of leadership. Put rules in place, most people will comply (not all, obviously). But if you don't put rules in place.... well then, it's a free for all.

I think that’s nonsense. You can mostly stay home if you feel you need to. As far as coming in contact with ppl who went to wdw or whatever, we are all supposed to assume that everyone we come in contact with might have it regardless of where they have been. So we should be staying away from ppl even when we do go out. What’s driving the rates up is ppl are not under stay at home orders in most places so they’re not staying home. Many ppl have Covid fatigue & are more willing to go out & take their chances more than they were in the beginning. I think ppl who complain about ppl vacationing have fomo. They want to go on vacation too but don’t feel they can or should so then they try to make others feel guilty about it.
