If I want to upgrade my 7 day date based ticket to an AP at the end of our trip so as not to deal with park reservations, is the only drawback that I would have to pay extra for the memory maker instead of getting the $99 AP add on deal?
Discounts on dining / merch, potentially on your on-property stay.

I have the Disney visa for those so all good. The memory maker is the only thing I’m thinking would be a disadvantage. In effect would it be like me paying about $90 more as a trade off for not making reservations? They won’t credit me for the Memory maker right?

That seems right - I could be missing something but I need coffee. :-)

And no, they won't credit that.

Disney Visa is 10% on merch and AP is 20%. Some restaurants also offer additional savings for AP up to 20%. I am not sure how much you plan on purchasing or dining.

I am pretty sure you can just skip Memory Maker altogether. Take the PhotoPass pictures like normal. Upgrade to the AP with PhotoPass downloads and poof... watermark is gone. Regular PhotoPass pictures should last 45 days. APs get an entire year.

If you are too hesitant and still purchase Memory Maker I would ask about a refund. Never hurts to try.

Are you worried about securing the park passes last minute and selling out? Or do you not want to deal with the restriction of park passes? If it's the sell out reason I would upgrade before I got there to have my park passes set.

I'll look into the restaurants we made ADRs at to see if any of them give the 20%. I guess enough of those and it could move the needle as we will be eating out a lot. We also get the memory maker each trip. I'm one of those constantly looking for the photographers and stopping for pics! I like your idea about just dealing with the photo pass pics and getting them at upgrade.

Yeah I kinda just don't want to be beholden to reservations for the first time in a long time as we're planning a more relaxed trip this time where we want to be a little less structured about the parks. We still know which ones we're going to attend but would like flexibility. Plus it'll be spring break for my state and I do worry that a park will "sell out" by the time I decide and I don't want that anxiety. But we have a few trips planned this year so definitely going to be upgrading at least by the last day. I may also just be overthinking this lol

I remember reading Tutto Italia was recently added to the 20% list, but I am not sure of the other restaurants off the top of my head.

I understand, I flag the photographers down as well! I am a sucker for all the new magic shots and you can really get some nice photographers and great pictures. I remember the first time I upgraded to an AP I got access to all the photos my linked friends had taken on previous trips. I was honestly surprised. I think it would still work today.

I don't blame you for wanting flexibility! You can check the AP availability calendar to look at reservations. So far the only day I see restricted is 5/4 in DHS. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/passes/calendar/disney-incredi-pass

Yes! Feel it's one of the better values at DW especially if staying for a longer time frame. I make sure I get my money's worth lol. I just did a quick scan of AP discounts for restaurants and no difference from Visa so all quiet on that front. Maybe I'll just wait and see what happens when I get down there. I'll check out the reservation situation and if it looks wide open maybe I'll just upgrade there and then. Staying at your namesake hotel and was told to do it at the ticket booths at the TTC as there's no wait.

Sounds like you have a good plan! Enjoy the trip!

We purchased APs through Shades of Green a few months back. I was under the impression that they are "gate ready" meaning they would automatically activate when we tapped in to our first park. However, today I viewed the passes in the app and I'm getting a message that says "NOT VALID FOR ADMISSION - Must Show ID at Ticket Window Before Using". I would like to take care of this the day before our first park day at Disney Springs, but don't want the countdown to begin until the enter the park the following day. The reason is because I have a return trip booked for a year later on the back end of the AP and want the last day of our trip to be the day before expiration.

My question is, can I get the AP verified at DS the day before, without it counting as my first day of AP usage?

Hi @lanejudy

Helping a friend book a trip. They need 7 tickets. 3 families. Can one person purchase for all or, is it better for each family to purchase their own tickets?

Thanks!
From my experience yesterday at Magic Kingdom, I would say each family purchase their own tickets.

I was dealing with a ticket situation using a previously purchased ticket for a guest of mine. First off, for the 2nd time in 25 years, I got a rude cast member. (I'm really doing great and most CM's are wonderful!)

We went through all the steps and finally she says 'are you Ms XXXX?' I said no that is my DD. She says 'well where is she? You can't use this ticket!!!!' (I was dealing with it for her husband, my son in law. )

Long story short DD was sitting on a bench a few feet away with her back acheing, which is why I went to the window. DD had to get up and show her ID, then this CM reluctantly fixed our issue, but not before again being rude. So, if someone has to deal with a ticket issue it's best to have the purchaser there in my opinion.

We are new to annual passes. We have our reservations made. My question. We want to start at AK and walk on to Safari, Expedition Everest and ILL for FOP. Ideally being at AK for less than 2 hours, then head over to Epcot. Can I make a 7:00 am LL for Remy if our reservation is at AK?

We're only doing 2 park days, so trying to maximize the rides/parks that we want to do most.

Thanks!

Couple things

1) memory maker pictures are saved for 90 days I believe, your pass holder pictures are good for a year (at least in my experience). If you save immediately not very valuable but something

2) when I upgraded my tickets from a package to an AP in 2023 I ended up get a Disney gift card for the memory maker but it wasn’t a straightforward process and I likely would’ve been out the cost if not for an amazing CM at the front desk calling someone and being on the phone for like an hour. I believe I had to pay for the photo add on and then got the e-gift card a few days later.

Hello all! Our daughter is going to be a DCP participant June-Jan. We are looking for my husband and I to become Incredi-pass holders. We will take her early to the program and want to get 5 day passes for that trip. She won't be able to get us any discounts for this visit, so we would use AP discounts at this time.

We also know we will spend a week at WDW sometime in Nov/Dec. This would be about 6-7 days of park tickets we would be buying as well.

I plan on taking one solo trip with my sister for a long weekend, 3 days of park, and my husband and I are planning on at least one long weekend trip, 3 days of park each, in late summer/early fall.

Does this sound like enough to warrant the cost?

If one of us buys the photopass, can I get my daughter's pictures if we are linked?

Any other info anyone wants to share? I feel like there aren't a lot of perks TBH besides no block-out days as long as you go often enough to have the pass pay for itself.

We are in the same boat. Have a 7 day ticket plus rooms booked May 5-12 but looking to possibly upgrade to APs instead. Working with our TA now to see if she can get us any room discounts or whatnot for our currently booked stays if we go ahead and upgrade. Could be the clinching benefit that would get us to go ahead and upgrade.

As far as cost, does anyone know if they just take the $1449 and subtract the cost of the 7-day ticket in full?

I’ve heard people say they’ll download pictures for anyone in their friends/family since they have it. I would image the same applies to your daughter given y’all end up linked with the exception I have no idea if CM have different procedures for pictures.

Probably, but you should really price out the tickets for your specific dates -- or if the exact dates aren't known at least for an idea of the dates you have in mind. Ticket prices vary so it's no longer as simple as saying "anything more than 12 park days."

Have a 7 day ticket
It is unlikely that an AP will "break-even" with just a 7-day ticket in May even with discounts. If you have another trip planned with 12 months, then it might.

You will receive credit for the 7-day ticket Disney sold based on the date you bought that ticket. Note the most recent ticket adjustment occurred in late February, so if you bought your tickets before then the current price may not be the amount of your credit.

Thanks. Yes, we do plan on going again at some point - probably multiple times - over the next year. We live about 5 hours away so weekend trips aren't that impossible for us.
