Assuming 6 is open for my stay in January, my odds of getting a refurbished standard room are about 2/3... Does that sound right?Building 5 is in construction mode !!! And tomorrow is fire alarm testing so building 6 section should open any day
We flew in from west coast so flight didn’t land till 4:30. We both got renovated rooms. Very far from Hall but new rooms. We tried asking for closer rooms but none available. Resort was full and Pop Warner groups were there (on other side of resort) and at end of trip noticed Brazilian tour groups arriving. Our flight doesn’t arrive until 5pm and I think it will negatively affect my chances of getting a refurbished room. While room assignments are done 2-3 days in advance we read often on here of people arriving, being assigned an old room, requesting a refurbished room and that request being granted. They have to find that room somewhere and my guess is it’s from people who haven’t arrived yet.
I’m hoping I’m wrong but am also fully prepared not to have my refurbished room request granted due to my late arrival time.
Not saying I’m right, just how I’m preparing myself. I guess the one thing that disproves my theory (and in this case that’s a good thing ) is that room sssignnent notifications go out earlier in the day. I can’t see them changing a room once the notification has been sent...hopefully!)
I would. There are four parties in our group. If our reservations are all linked in MDE, do I need to still request our rooms to be near each other?
Conversely, it could be viewed as your arrival at the bus area was frequently/always a matter of bad timing. Did you experience the same extensive waits heading back to Pop?Busses more of a miss. Service mostly awful with long waits. Wasn’t uncommon to have 30+ minute wait. Ocassionally felt like we lucked out with only a 10-15 min wait, lol. But that was rare. It has to be the worst bus service I’ve ever had at WDW. No matter what Resort there’s always that morning when 3 of every bus comes except your bus. But at Pop the waits were consistently bad. My friend has had many stays at Pop and said this was the worst she’s ever experienced and she was there last in May.
No. Its late, so give me a minute (all numbers approximate.)Assuming 6 is open for my stay in January, my odds of getting a refurbished standard room are about 2/3... Does that sound right?
I still plan to put in a request just setting my expectations.

There are six wings in each building, with 48 rooms in each wing.
Right now, there are six refurbished standard pool view wings; 20* refurbished standard standard wings; four refurbished preferred wings; and 30 unrefurbished wings.
Without breaking down the types of undone rooms:
You have a 1/2 chance of getting a refurbished room
Of the refurbished rooms, 2/3 are standard standard
1/2 x 2/3 = 2/6, which reduces to 1/3.
*assumes all of building six will be open
Thanks! I’ll pack some teabagsNo and Yes. See pictures below.
I'll give you a break since it was late as long as you give me a break since it's early. I was doing some generous rounding but below is my actual thought process.
Since I booked standard, I was only counting those and came up with 22 refurbished standard wings, 12 still needing refurbished, and 2 in building 5 probably closed. 22 out of 34 open wings refurbished = 64.7%
Is there a chance I'm "upgraded" to a higher room category? I don't understand how those counts affect my odds unless there is. Am I counting wrong?
Is there a big difference in price? We absolutely loved POFQ! It’s our favorite resort but we are trying POP in March.I'm still on the fence between Pop and POFQ (we are booked @ POFQ) for my trip April 26-May 3. Anyone think all the Preferred Pool View rooms will be renovated by then? Wondering if booking that category would guarantee us a renovated room! Wasn't crazy about that category the last time we booked it (pool noise was loud) but would be worth it for the queen beds and coffee maker!

That’s a lot of money in my opinion. I think it depends on how much time you’ll spend at your hotel.I think it's around $600 for our dates. We are staying 6 nights but with a Pop stay might increase that to 7 nights.

POFQ is my favorite, and I keep checking back to see prices for my date. As of now we are sticking with Pop because POFQ is about $110 more/night. I can’t justify it but would switch if the price difference were lower. Fingers crossed for renovated rooms- my tall DH needs the queens as well!Yes it is a lot! Could just about be our food budget. I just really need queen beds for my 6'5" SO. I stayed with him at Pop for 2 nights when our trip got extended by Hurricane Matthew, and I recall his feet hanging off the bed! That's why I'm wondering if, by late April/May, the Preferred Pool View sections might be completed... if I could guarantee a renovated room, I'd switch in a minute!
I’m not sure if they will be done by the time you get there but I would save the $600.Yes it is a lot! Could just about be our food budget. I just really need queen beds for my 6'5" SO.
