Advice on waitlist

I have just called to make a reservation in the 7 month window at BWV. I waited until I could get the whole thing, rather than calling day by day. My mistake. Here's the scoop: I have Aug 23 - 25 at BWV (2 bedroom) then no availability for Aug 26 or 27. Then I have Aug 28, 29, 30 and 31 reserved. I have waitlisted for 26 and 27 at BWV and booked at WLV. I'm trying to decide whether to book the whole first part of the vacation (23 - 27) at WLV (it's available for now) and wait for the waitlist at BWV for all of those days, or whether I should leave it as it is, and hope that I don't have to move twice during my vacation. I would just move over to WLV for the whole time, but my mom is staying at BWV and she likes it there. She likes to be able to walk to Epcot, etc.

So, how well does waitlist work? Should I start calling, or does waitlist really get the spots before people on the phone? Am I likely to get in? I don't think I can hold those first few days at both places, can I?

Advice, please <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

Wait list has worked for us in the past, but of course their is no guarantee something will open up.

If you have the points available you can reserve as many rooms as you want, there are no restrictions..of course you have to cancel one of the reservations at the 31 day window to avoid your points going into the holding account.

If I didn't have the points to hold two reservations for awhile, I would split my stay between wl and bw..I would hate to move three times too!!

Good luck resolving your delima!

Have a wonderful day!

OK I'm confused. I thought you didn't have to have points avaliable to book as long as the points were available when you actually stayed?? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

I tried the wait list last year for a 2br P/V in BWV for first week of Dec. Signed up in May, it never came through. It could also have been because that was the week of the yearly meeting. On the other hand, I read the turn out wasn't that great. Who knows - it's all in the timing!

I have limited experience with this entire process. However, when I called early Jan. 2001 to book for the end of July beginning of Aug. I had to be wait listed for several days. I made reservations for two standard room studios at BWV. Two weeks later MS called to advise me that the days I requested were now available. Also, I should mention that I could have booked at OKW or VWL at that time and choose to wait for BWV to become available. Keep the faith, something will become available!!!

Thanks for the replies. The reason that I don't just book both is that I would have to borrow points to do that, and I'm not sure I would be able to use them later in the use year. Then I would have a different dilemma that I don't want to get into.

I still can't decide whether to just hope for good luck or to split the vacation while I can. If only I could find out how far down the waitlist I am, I could make a good decision.

Oh well, the system is what it is, and I'm going to have to decide.

Anybody know if it helps to call when you are on the waitlist? (e.g. do they fill any cancellations from the waitlist on a real time basis, or do they run some sort of batch process once a day so that it would make sense to call?) Let me know your experience on this. Thanks.
:)
