We are closed and groups are set. Any questions or corrections, please let me know. Thanks to all who are play and for being so patient during signups.

6/1 ~PLEASE note: Due to some family issues that has come about tyniknate has asked that mommy2mrb take over this swap as well as the ABC Swap. M2MRB will be posting a note later today with information and Pm'ing a new mailing address. Please hold off mailing until you hear from Lisa. Those who have already mailed your packages will be forwarded to Lisa so no worries... Danielle, let us know if you need us!

CHARACTER SWAP SIGNUPS May 2nd 9AM EST - Please read through all of the following information. I know it's long, but I want to be sure everyone understands what is required. Please refer back to it while you are working and when packaging and mailing your items Thanks! And, if you have a question or something isn't clear - please ask.

Due date is by July 25th. This may be mailed together with the ABC Swap if you are participating in that swap. I will mail both groups back in the same package if you are in both swaps, please make sure you allow for enough postage if you are in both swaps.

If you miss a check-in, I will PM/email you. If I do not hear from you 48 hours after that, you spots will be angeled. If you are going away over a check-in date, please let me know.

For the June 20th check-in, please be specific with your progress, and list the groups you still need to finish. I want to have a good sense that you will be able to finish your groups on time, or if we are going to need angels. If, at any time you are unable to complete this swap please just contact me. We are a very understanding group and are happy to help when others need it. It does, however, make me grumpy when those who have signed up do not complete a swap and do not have the common courtesy to let us know.

PACKAGING: Place your completed elements in a ziploc bag with your DISname, name and group letter. Do not address your items to a particular swapper as it makes it harder for me to sort. Your label should look like this:

Group A
Tyniknate
Danielle Seidel

Take all of your baggies and place them in a GALLON size or larger bag. The items you made may fit into something smaller, but what you receive in return may not.

MAILING: You may send to me by any method you choose unless you are mailing after July 22nd. Then, you must mail priority with delivery confirmation. I will be returning via online postage so please just make sure you have sent me a PM with your address. Online postage allows for delivery confirmation with all of the packages, without the extra cost of delivery confirmation. So please just see the rates below and make sure you are picking the return size appropriate for the amount of groups you are in. Also, if you are in the ABC swap - you may mail them to me in the same box. Please consider using the large size for return if you are in both swaps. If I only need the medium size - I will return the extra money to you. Better to be safe than sorry. Medium box: $10.95 Large box: $15.95

Please note:
* Each item must be embellished a minimum of two different ways. Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, flowers, stickles, ribbons, fibers, stickers, ink, chalk, sewing, embossing, or special paper.
* NO handwritten lettering on any items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps.

TITLE - 1 per person. Can be normal 8X2 topper, individual letters with shadow at least 1 1/4" tall, letter on shapes. If you have another idea - please ask. Be sure to embellish two ways. Danielle--just a quick reminder that I'll be hostessing character 2" words and 4" letters swap in early September ;)

Ohhhhh.....this was a tease! I thought I was going to see groups here! Did you decide on dates for this and the ABC swap?

I will probably join a few groups.....Megan will think about if she wants to join the kids group!

I would stick to elements in this swap, I think it will be more beneficial with the letter swap coming up in Sept.

Danielle - can we have a villians group please? I figured you were planning on it, but just in case!! Also, what about splitting some groups according to character meals? Would that work better for some or no? We tend to see the majority of our characters at meals & don't stop in the parks unless it's a rare one. But, that may just be my family??!!

I love the the character meal idea! we do the same thing now that Megan is older!

OK - so I will work on character dining groups tonight and see what I come up with. Any specific restaurant?

Also, what about the very hard to find characters - does anyone want to include them? Like Marie or Flik? I know they used to be somewhat common to find, but now it is a rare treat.

Does anyone want a group for the holiday characters? Like the way the characters are dressed at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? And in costume at the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? They don't have to be exactly like they are seen at those parties, just either dressed in colors that represent Christmas or in some type of Halloween costume.

For groups like the princesses and villians - I'm going to have one large group for each - it means making more pieces, but getting more in return. Any that aren't full at the end of signups - I will just delete that individual character.

Also, do you want to do small page kits like in the MK Swap: 2 mats and 2 elements? Or 1 mat, 1 journal box and 1 element? Or do you want to do single elements? I find it much easier putting pages together with the small page kits, but will do single elements if that is what everyone else prefers.

i think the halloween and xmas idea is a really cool idea - i've still got character pics from our christmas trip to scrap and i'm going for halloween this year so i could def use them!

as for page kits/single elements - either is fine for me but as the groups will be 'Princesses' rather than 'Cinderella' we might only get a cindy mat for example so i'd be temped to say kits.

Yay!!! Ohana and 1900 Park Fare for me please!!

Ummm....I LOVE the idea of holiday themed characters!

I like the single elements because they are quicker and easier, but a combo of both is great too like you did in the MK swap. Also, in the MK we ended up with a great variety...which is nice!!

ETA...the single elements would be specific characters, right? Like...everyone does a single Pooh element or a single Minnie element. Maybe some groups like that for popular characters and kits for groupings?

I will do mini kits for groups of characters like:
The Fab 5
1. Mickey
2. Minnie
3. Goofy
4. Pluto
5. Donald

Princesses
1. Cinderella
2. Belle
3. Ariel
4. etc
5. etc
6. etc
7. etc
8. etc.
9. etc
10. etc.

Crystal Palace
1. Pooh
2. Tigger
3. Piglet
4. Eeyore

Then for the single elements I will do individual characters (pick your element at signups):

Mickey
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Minnie
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Mulan:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Or, we can do a mix and match - at sign ups you tell me which character(s) and which element(s) you want to make and we just start listing as everyone signs up: Then you will receive a mixed set of stuff to get back. Kinda like the surprise swap only you will be able to post pictures. The surprise will be when you get your box back to see which pieces you have actually gotten out of all the pieces. Just brainstorming.....what do you think? I'm afraid if we do single elements for each and every character we are going to end up with 100 groups. I'd love to get a good variety of single elements for the characters but not sure how to accomplish it without having a group for each.

Example: signup for single elements- make 5 of each listed:
Tyniknate Lilo - altered clips
Mulan - library pocket
Jiminy Crickett - photo mats
Pluto - journal box

Lovemy3kiddos Minnie - border
Mary Poppins - paper piecing
Captain Hook - tags

etc etc for each person. Then - when I get everything I would sort so everyone gets a good variety of what has been sent. I, for example, would have made 20 total pieces (4 characters X 5 pieces for each = 20 pieces in return) Erin would have made 15 pieces (3 characters X 5 pieces each = 15 pieces in return). I think we would set a cap at 5 characters/elements per person so this didn't get too big.

If you have another idea on how to accomplish the individual characters with single elements I'd love to hear it.

Ok so I like the single element due to the ease of making them - making me more open to sign up for more groups (i find mats and journal boxes don't get used too much in my albums as well) but I am in for whatever -- this is my fave swap..

we frequently dine at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Donald's-altho i've not been to tusker house yet, Hoop dee doo, Cape May ..

I've not done the Halloween/Xmas party in years so I don't have a vote on that and I really like the idea of the open group for princess and villians

That may work...only is it harder to set up a page with a single element? So, if it were a grab bag type deal, we would end up with a lot of single items...just a thought...I will work with either way you decide to go. But, just playing devil's advocate!! ;)

I think just doing single elements of the fab 5, pooh characters and maybe a few others you see a lot would be plenty and allow you to avoid tons of groups. No matter what, this is one of the bigger swaps on here....destined to be huge!

I find that I don't use the pieces from single elements together even when they are done as groups. Each person has their own style, the papers may not match, etc. No biggie - just thought it would be something different, but it may not be best for everyone.

OK - I guess I will try to hash this out tonight and post groups tomorrow - that will give us lots of time to adjust things as people would like before signups.

we did Chef Mickey, 1900 Park Fare (breakfast) and Cinderella royal table

I like the element idea too....to make photo mats and journal boxes are pretty quick and easy to make up on our own after we get the groups...just my 2 cents.

no vote on the holiday stuff as we haven't done those.

Also, what about the very hard to find characters - does anyone want to include them? Like Marie or Flik? I know they used to be somewhat common to find, but now it is a rare treat.

Marie and Flik appear most every day now here in the parks, so definitely include them! Actually, if you would like an up to date list of the characters, I can let you know who is current and who is not. During the last 8 months, I have met over 95 (!) different characters... with many more to come! :)

oh if you're going to be doing groups involving character meals you may have sucked me in....DH and I are trying Tusker House this summer!

I love the idea of holiday elements...so I vote yay to that...

I like single element groups....it helps me set the page with my own vision...although mini page groups make for a quick and beautiful page!

Sorry if I'm not making any sense....I'm on pain meds due to some back pain- be careful standing up from a sitting position people, it's dangerous! I'm also about to head to the dentist and I am beyond nervous (I have the most awkward cavity ever-on the back of my front tooth. weird) :scared1::scared1::scared1:

and back to our regular swapping chatting :)

Hmmmmmm I might join a few groups. I like single elements as well and love the idea of character meals.
