DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

And so begins day 4 of unemployment. I'm really looking forward to going to work on Wednesday. It's a start to return to normalcy.
Why do I get the feeling that you are not cut out for a life of leisure?
We didn't get home until after 8 PM last night and today is Sunday. Not sure anyone is working today.
At least one of your vehicles is outside.

Made it to another Monday, and hopefully my last unemployed Monday by choice for a decade or so. Boyfriend here most of the day yesterday. My oldest rarely talks to me anymore, but she told my wife that the boyfriend has made comments about marriage. What more can I add in one month? There's already been retirement, anniversary, resign, new job, and garage door spring broke, and it's not even 1/2 way done. At least I got my first retirement check.

I can handle a life of leisure. This isn't it. While I prefer to plan things, I enjoy spontaneity as well. Right now, it's like I'm stuck in neutral.

It's another Monday and our first ever corona virus election day. I'm all a tingle.

Wait....that's not a symptom, is it?

Vote early and often. :lmao:

As for the symptoms, you never know, it could be. Or, it could be added later.

Morning campers.

In the city 35 miles away, they play the annual tennis Henderson Open. But, they used to limit the tournament to people who only lived in that city. They have since changed that rule.
:rotfl:..so Open as in 'Open to a 20 block radius?'
There's already been retirement, anniversary, resign, new job, and garage door spring broke,
Not nitpicking, but I probably put the last one in a different bucket to 'major lifetime events'. Good luck on the Father of the Bride stuff buddy.

Drink a beer to see if you taste is lost. Just don't use Coors light, as it will probably send you into a panic....
DisneyGrandKids sleepover, those Classic Mickey Mouse cartoons arn't going to play themselves
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 gotta love Disney+ for the classic stuff.

I always forget that Delaware is right next to NJ.
I got the Kids "Big Book of 50 states" and checked it out. I now can speak with authority on the amount of Broiler Chickens you produce, the fact that Dead Poets Society was filmed there and the history of the "World Championship Punkin' Chunkin".

Nice work. I myself have no idea how many broiler chickens we produce. We all know it's much better either fried or put on the rotisserie.

I live right next to the area where most of Dead Poets Society was filmed. It's always funny to see how nice the the movie made it look.

Sadly, Punkin' Chunkin' has died away over the last couple of years. The machinery kind of outgrew the field where it was held, and there were liability issues when they started overshooting. The search for a new location continues. It was a big deal for a little bit. The Mythbusters would come and host a special for Discovery Channel.

Although I would imagine in true American tradition, you call it a World Championship but only US teams can enter.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: A championship for all nations, but mostly America.

Depends. Could be a symptom of many things.

I once saw a FB post that had all 50 states summarized in one (or two) sentences. The ones I remember are:
Alabama - thank got for Mississippi, or we'd be last in everything.
Mississippi - you're welcome Alabama

Missouri: Too far south to be a northern state, and too far north to be a southern state. It is rather fitting.
Morning All.

NO. Well, not a covid-19 symptom.

Also, @AirGoofy - I miss tennis. I haven't played since I was 14, so, 28 years, but tennis was a sport I really, truly enjoyed. It is work, and frustrating, and even when you're better than you're opponent, you can still lose.

And I miss sweating while sports-ing. That's how you know you're getting your money's worth.

Oh, of note, even when I played tennis, I sucked at it. I hit the racket frame way more often than I should have, considering the size of strings vs racket edge.

THEN - Disney related - someone is renting AKL Vacation Club points for $7/ point, but you have to leave by 9/30/2020. It's tempting. I can't go, but it's tempting.

Wow! It's probably someone having to use up their points, but still surprising. I've seen a bunch of confirmed reservations for rent, but many are still wanting 12, 14, or 16 a point. That amazes me....if you're going to lose the points or resi, then why not discount (especially those wanting 16 per point)

To answer my own question, can there be more stuff in September? Yes. I test drove a 2017 GMC Sierra with under 30K miles. I'm probably buying a new truck, and youngest can drive my Camry.

I wasn't ready for that news. Maybe my heart stopped beating. It's not official, so maybe he was just drunk or she misunderstood. My first reaction was that they are too young and immature. But, I'm just old now and immature. I got married at 27. Is that the right age? Maybe she needs to finish college first? Maybe she just needs to live her own life? Then again, her move out choice earlier this year was a catastrophe. Ugh.

Have you watched Morgan Spurlock's 2nd documentary on fast food about chicken? It's eye opening.

I've slept incredibly well. Maybe tequila was involved. Maybe there was no maybe.

The technology on racquets has really improved, and it is easier to hit it on the frame now than it was 30 years ago. :lmao: When it happens, the joke is "Paid for the whole racquet, might as well use it". If it's a winner, "shank you".

Seriously, it is worth it to try to start playing again. Some of my closest friends are the guys I play tennis with. It's a lot of fun, exercise, and when you find throw right group, a great way to relax.

Probably distressed points, but that's a great price. I'm guessing they already have a reservation booked. Or, there could be openings from COVID. That's the downside with DVC- not many last minute trip options.

Evening Y'all...
Month-End at work has had me runnin' ragged for the past little bit here. Combine that with now working in a giant fish bowl and even getting on-line to try and keep up is right difficult.

Hope all are well, and I'll see if maybe I can check back in from time to time.
Well, at least until new month-end at least.

Hey guys. I've been busy back at work the past few days after a week of Fridays. I scanned over the last few pages and things generally seem to be going ok, apart from Norm trying to figure out what to do with his spare time.
I have nothing new or exciting to report, other than both girls being back at school. Youngest is attending class everyday with a mask. I'm hoping the in class learning can continue since the at-home stuff in the spring just wasn't working for her. Oldest is all online with university and she's taken up refuge in the basement. I guess she'll emerge by the spring.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing after Grasshoppers in Jock Lindsays has to take Judy Hopps home. And, let me tell ya, at some point in the evening, you're gonna have some hare on your tongue.
Nice one. Although having a preview of it in "the other place" I did wonder if you posted it. Hadn't had a chance to check until now.

Been busy at work. What's your excuse? (Hopefully something better than "work".)
See above.
Work. Nope, nothing better than work. And trying to adjust sleep pattern for night shift. Even more fun.

Morning guys, its very quiet in the household today. Lady K has gone back to the office 3 days per week and the nippers are at school. So its just me and the moggy, and a shizzle pile of work.
Sent them off with a belly full of Mickey Waffles and Maple Syrup this morning, as the waffle machine turned up yesterday from your fine country. As Darcy quite sagely advised, gave it a cheeky wipe over with Sanitizer.

Very nice.
I've always wanted an F-150 (well actually an F-350) but you can't really get them over here. Ford UK do a "Ranger" which is like the Hairdressers' version of the f-150.

I'm from the East End mate, we nick anything that's not nailed down. Good luck with the sleeping, it must be tough. Aren't you permanently tired?

I think I've said it before here, had KFC once in my life and that was only about 8 months ago. Had Chick Fil A twice, both times in MCO. So it wouldn't really affect me.
I did watch his McDonalds one though, I have a bit of an issue with it. If you went to a 5 Star Restaurant and had the same thing every day for a month, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be too clever for your insides either. Its all about balance. I always tell the kids, there's no such thing as a bad food (well cheese in a can doesn't have a lot going for it, and @Captain_Oblivious by all means jump in with a Salad dodging line) only a bad diet. And eating in these places is a choice, no one forces you to go there. It's not McDonalds job to look after your body. Rant over. Where's the Tylenol?

Have a great day chaps.

Morning all. Woke up at 4:45 AM. Couldn't sleep. I wasn't tired or restless. Still don't know if the truck is the right decision, but I'm going with it anyway. The cat prowled out to keep me company while everyone else slept.

Good to see you back Rob.

Schools here are stating back this week or next week, on rotating attendance schedules. We've been under mask sanctions for 2 months, # of cases increase, and death rate dramatic decrease. I guess our socialist prevention tactics will continue to the KY supreme court hearing Thursday, Legislature resuming in January, or the virus is eradicated from the earth.

Mickey waffles sound good. This truck is more than I will ever need, and the most expensive vehicle I've ever purchased. Since it is only 3 years old, I plan to drive it for the next 15 to 18 years. Maybe we will have flying cars the next go around.

You mean I can't sue McDonald's for being fat? :lmao:

This new documentary looks at the industry itself, and one of the chicken farmers interviewed for it lives about 30 miles away, so it hit close to home. He refers to it as "big chicken", comparing it to "big oil", and buys/raises his own chickens to open his own unhealthy restaurant. I found this one way more interesting than the supersize me one.

No, I haven't. I have a general rule that documentaries about where my food comes from fall into the "ignorance is bliss" category.

Good to hear from you, Rob. Feel free to text if you can't check in here.

Remember to throw some meat down the stairs once in a while.

Some day I'll have my own pickup truck. But I have to get 4 kids out of the house first, so it's gonna be a while.

That's a quality rant.

I just prefer brutal honesty: I have a bad diet. I could do a lot better. But I don't like the taste of most foods that are really good for you, and I have no willpower. Pass the cheese whiz!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Nothing of significance here to report. DS is coming home this weekend for a couple of days so that will be a good visit and break up the monotony a bit.

Good to hear from again Rob - don't be a stranger. Good luck with the DD / wedding talk Norm, nice rant Dan - get off my lawn.

Everybody stay safe!

nice rant Dan
That's a quality rant.
Why thank you chaps. My ranting skills seem to be sharpening with age, which is more than I can say for my eyesight. 6 months of screens all the time has taken its toll a little bit I think.

Good to hear from you, Rob. Feel free to text if you can't check in here.
I totally echo this sentiment, Rob mate. Feel free to text Mark if you can't check in here.
(Only joking buddy, you know I luv ya)
You mean I can't sue McDonald's for being fat? :lmao:
Or Yuengling, Miller or Reece's. I'm pretty sure someone over your side have had a go though.
If someone could GMO up a chicken with 6 breasts, 8 legs and 4 wings, we could market it into KFC as a "Bird in a Bucket" meal deal. And then off we go to Golden Oaks on our chicken money.
