DIS-Meet Junior – June 2014 Girls Trip ~ Updated 1/21: See Ya Real Soon!

I think it's so funny that we were in Two Harbors on the same weekend! Both my parents grew up there, my grandparents are buried there, and I have various aunts and uncles that still live there. And now my inlaws- who have lived near the cities their whole lives retired there. So many more trips in our future!

Breakfast looks like so much fun!! Both girls look like they are totally enjoying themselves with the characters.

Photos of Goofy never seem to come out right. His nose covers his pupils and makes his whole face look weird! :rotfl2:

Ok, I am really glad you mentioned this and it isn't just me that noticed that ... he looks kinda scary with no pupils, like he is dead inside or something

Thanks @Dugette for taking over before the trip!! <3 Can't wait to get back to working on this TR either tomorrow or next week.

Enjoy your trip!!!

Aw your photos are so cute! Your kids are adorable! Can't wait to heat about your next trip!

Have a great trip!!!

The trip was amazing!! We had such a great time with Dugette & family. lots of fantastic meals and rides and characters. I already booked a return trip for June :)

Okay back to this TR now that we've been on yet another adventure together!! Dugette left of with us heading out of AK. We drove our miniature car over to the MK, and I think we were able to bypass where we were supposed to park and drive up to the front, finding a vacated spot from early morning park goers (haven't tried to do this lately, but they have stopped allowing this at most parks). We hopped on the monorail and Aria wanted to sit with Izzy

Upon entering, it started to downpour. Somehow 7DMT was still running, so we used a FP on it (I rode?) and got a RS for later. We also needed to get the girls to take naps in the strollers so with rain gear overhead, we did that. Next we attempted some same-day FP's and looks like we grabbed IASW, Buzz and Pooh. We also waited out the torrential rain while the girls were asleep under the Philharmagic cover. Most rides were closed at this point, so we decided to each do a show while the other watched the girls - I ran over to the Hall of Presidents.

It was packed!

Then Dugette watched Philharmagic. Our A&E FP was open, so it was time to wake the girls up :( here is my waiting spot in a back corner of the FP kiosks near Philharmagic. It was pretty loud but the girls had napped well.

14883642_10100565477944811_4521041406960049576_o.jpg

Dugette brought the A&E dress I had let Izzy borrow so we stopped at some bathrooms for outfit changes. Unfortunately Izzy wasn't very happy about being woken up, so the A&E meet didn't go so well :(

Aria was also a bit tired still lol

Again this was back when they met together and then we got a third princess out of the meet, so she met Aurora next. I'm pretty sure Izzy refused to go up there.

14859923_10100565483947781_7779259044332151369_o.jpg

But Dugette brought her up and she was okay after a minute

I will admit that character meets overall, are much more fun now that Aria can talk with them and have a much more meaningful interaction.

Next we headed to It's a Small World with a FP

14713803_10100565484282111_6448952288541886508_n.jpg

See the empty row behind us? There was a little boy, maybe 5? who refused to get on the ride. He was SO SO scared. The parents tried to pick him up and physically put him in the boat but he wouldn't let go of the rails, and eventually our boat pulled away without them.

14590148_10100565484322031_2084667119132543291_o.jpg

The girls really enjoyed the ride though after that.

14633310_10100565484421831_3191204577552856496_o.jpg

We noted that Ariel's ride had a very short wait so we headed there next.

14612371_10100565484586501_4463582216589887833_o.jpg

And then I took the girls on Pooh while Dugette rode 7DMT sans rain

We never had a chance to use our Buzz FP as we needed to hop on the monorail for dinner! We were excited to head to Ohana together. Stopped for some photopass on our way out

14567991_910753549057026_6380211393912428954_n.jpg

Then enjoyed the monorail ride over to the Polynesian

Izzy was being silly

14690951_10100565485354961_6894964953643208387_n.jpg

And Aria crawled back into her stroller

Continued in next post -

Once inside the resort we noted some sketches for the "upcoming" new lobby area (really aging this report, if how little the girls are isn't any indication!!)

I enjoyed some fruity beverage :-D

14882139_10100565486003661_7806149594395018406_o.jpg

Izzy really enjoyed the potstickers, Aria liked some of the meat and bread, and I liked the noodles. It's a good thing they have lots of options!

14884527_10100565486043581_8008879255374324590_o.jpg

This meal isn't a HUGE favorite of mine, because I don't eat meat/shrimp/etc (I do eat chicken breast). They do have a vegetarian option if you ask, but a vegetable and tofu bowl isn't really my favorite either. The noodles and chicken are generally what I stick to).

14570836_10100565486088491_2350062050128183202_o.jpg

However, with that vegetable bowl, this time they brought out hummus and chips as well! This was delicious.

14633560_10100565486128411_5775951985183280878_o.jpg

Here's a pic to show we were in the center area which was a nice place to be, well lit and all. This last trip we were off to one side and it was really dark?

14859706_10100565486153361_1991838283608058221_o.jpg

The girls were really enjoying dinner

Aria was being silly

14856185_10100565486377911_4782975189642652821_o.jpg

Soon the best part of the meal came - dessert! The kids each got cupcakes and then we had the banana bread pudding. YUM.

14853213_10100565486627411_7135752925714371934_o.jpg

Aria's first ice cream was at Ohana at 8 months old, so naturally she had to have some ice cream this evening too!

14859663_10100565486677311_5508081395386385613_o.jpg

Apparently I didn't take any more photos from the evening, but we did a little bit more - heading back to the MK, rode Pirates, then Dugette upgraded her ticket to an AP, and then we headed out. While it wasn't really very late when we got back to the condo, once again it was storming so no swim time :( Instead I think we packed up a bit and then headed to bed, as it was already time to check out in the morning!

Yay! Can't wait to see you guys! I hope everything goes smoothly with your flight/travel plans and we'll see each other in Epcot!

:disrocks::disrocks::disrocks:
So bummed we just missed each other with the long transportation times and limited meeting window. Next time, maybe! In fact, I need to review your 2017 schedule now that we are planning to be back... :rolleyes1

I hope the airport situations turns out as well as you hope ... sounds like the potential is their for a very low stress situation (not having to take off shoes, no car seat, etc.)
It was great!!! I LOVE TSA pre-check! It was so nice to not have to lug a car seat and not have to do anything other than put some bags and a stroller on the belt and walk through. Makes me like airports about 1000 times better. :thumbsup2

We loved Spice Road table and there was no issue getting a seat with a good view (we were not right at the edge, but the next table in and had a good view and the people who were close had no issue letting the kids go in-between the tables to get right to the railing see - hope it works for you!
It was fantastic! I would definitely do it again. We were actually a couple back from the rail, but the view was just fine for us and Izzy loved watching the fireworks from the table. Plus, the food and service and patio weather were all perfect too! Great way to end the night! :thumbsup2

And I can totally understand why Izzy was scared of the lighthouse - I mean, just look at this thing!!!
scary-lighthouse-jpg.208477
I have looked at this a bunch of times and it cracks me up every time! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Your plans for the first day sound great! :thumbsup2Izzy's Paris inspired outfit is adorable! :lovestruc
Thanks, the first day went a little off track when our very first FP+ ride was down, but we still had a great time. And I never ended up changing her into her Paris outfit...next time, I guess! :rotfl:

I'm so excited for you all!:cool1: Have a wonderful trip and I can't wait to here all about it:goodvibes
Thank you, it was really great. Ups and downs, as with any trip, but overall a great time and fun memories. :goodvibes

I think it's so funny that we were in Two Harbors on the same weekend! Both my parents grew up there, my grandparents are buried there, and I have various aunts and uncles that still live there. And now my inlaws- who have lived near the cities their whole lives retired there. So many more trips in our future!
Great place to have family to visit! We just end up there for other reasons , but just love the whole North Shore. Funny that we seem to travel there at the same time, though. :rotfl:

Breakfast looks like so much fun!! Both girls look like they are totally enjoying themselves with the characters.
It was a fun time! First (and only) time that I've had breakfast there, but I'd go back!

Photos of Goofy never seem to come out right. His nose covers his pupils and makes his whole face look weird! :rotfl2:
I noticed that when I was trying to pick one to post - that was the least objectionable, but they all were weird. :rotfl:

Ok, I am really glad you mentioned this and it isn't just me that noticed that ... he looks kinda scary with no pupils, like he is dead inside or something
Agreed, I almost skipped posting a photo, as all the choices had him looking bizarre, but had to put something up there.

Enjoy your trip!!!
Thank you, we did! :goodvibes

Aw your photos are so cute! Your kids are adorable! Can't wait to heat about your next trip!
Thank you, I can't wait to write about it! :goodvibes

Have a great trip!!!
Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Thanks @Dugette for taking over before the trip!! <3 Can't wait to get back to working on this TR either tomorrow or next week.
And thank you for picking up my slack upon returning. :goodvibes We've gotta finish this thing up!

The trip was amazing!! We had such a great time with Dugette & family. lots of fantastic meals and rides and characters. I already booked a return trip for June :)
We had a great time too! I love that the girls were able to ride things together, etc. Great meals, good company. And now we have a return trip booked too! :rolleyes1 (not at the same time, though - I'll post details soon).

I can't wait to hear all about it! Welcome back!
Can't wait to re-live it all! I'm still working on my notes so that I'll have a shot at remembering things by the time I get to writing about them! :rotfl: Thanks!

We hopped on the monorail and Aria wanted to sit with Izzy

14570733_10100565478119461_810086978507777148_o.jpg

I think this photo might have been from later on? Izzy has her dinner shirt on and I have this photo next in my album:

Oh, my notes mention that there was some lady on the monorail who saw each of us with one kid and was talking about how it's great to just have one kid or something to that effect. I find it amusing now with Lauren having #3 on the way. :rotfl:

Upon entering, it started to downpour. Somehow 7DMT was still running, so we used a FP on it (I rode?) and got a RS for later. We also needed to get the girls to take naps in the strollers so with rain gear overhead, we did that.
Sorry you had to ride it in the rain! I think I ran the girls to the nearest shelter (between those column things) while you rode, as I have these pics of our whereabouts during the downpour (lots of people congregated there after seeing me hiding out):

Most rides were closed at this point, so we decided to each do a show while the other watched the girls - I ran over to the Hall of Presidents.
It was so weird to see so much closed - I remember looking in the MDE app and tons of things were down!

Also, here's us waiting while you did HoP:

They both were napping soundly. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately Izzy wasn't very happy about being woken up, so the A&E meet didn't go so well :(
Too bad, since she was finally in the right dress. :headache: But, yeah, she was not a happy camper. I think the combo of being woken up and of her semi-fear of characters on this trip was too much. In case anyone is wondering about the picture, I had previously discovered that holding her up / dangling her by her hands like that made her laugh - so, I was hoping maybe I'd get a smile in the picture instead of the sad face. But it didn't work and now I just look like a meanie. :rotfl: But I put some nice (sarcastic) borders on them anyway  :

I have a few other ones with borders from that meet too:

Also, I just thought this one was cute, since the ice queen is giving a warm hug to Aria, wearing her "I like warm hugs" dress :lovestruc :

But Dugette brought her up and she was okay after a minute
It's funny, the photo progression looks like, "Noooo, get away from me! Wait, you're not the ice queen? Great, I like you!" :rotfl:

I also think this photo of Aria with her is cute:

See the empty row behind us? There was a little boy, maybe 5? who refused to get on the ride. He was SO SO scared. The parents tried to pick him up and physically put him in the boat but he wouldn't let go of the rails, and eventually our boat pulled away without them.
That poor family! He was sure traumatized by something (I think maybe from Pirates, since it was another boat ride?), but his parents were really trying to convince him this was different (which it is, obviously) and he wasn't going to hear of it. I think this is one of those battles to give up on until later maybe...:scratchin

On another note, I thought this was a cute pic of the girls, who were not at all traumatized by the boy or IaSW:

This photo cracks me up because you're taking a selfie with Aria in the foreground and I'm in the background taking a picture of Izzy. :rotfl2: Pretty much explains how to be a trip reporter...

Izzy was being silly
She was having a great time riding the monorail:

A photo of me taking a photo of Izzy :rotfl: :

I know I have some additions to the next update too. Coming soon...

Y'all had fun despite the rain! Leave it to a couple of moms to figure out how to tag-team the park during a nap time monsoon! They look so sweet during the meet-- too bad they were sleepy/sad. They look cheerful during the monorail ride, though!

I also have a couple of Lauren's Photopass with borders:

Once inside the resort we noted some sketches for the "upcoming" new lobby area (really aging this report, if how little the girls are isn't any indication!!)
And I FINALLY got to see the "new" lobby area on the trip we just took!

And we were seated pretty quickly in the restaurant
And my notes say that we were running late too, so nice that we got seated so fast.

The guy in this photo was really sweet and kept picking up things for Izzy as she dropped them hah
He was super nice - I remember thinking he was like Izzy's personal assistant, as she was constantly dropping things his way and he was happily picking them up before I could get to them. Clearly, he remembers when his kids were young. :goodvibes

I enjoyed some fruity beverage :-D

14882139_10100565486003661_7806149594395018406_o.jpg
I think yours was the Backscratcher (due to having a backscratcher on top ). Mine was the Island Sunset:

Izzy really enjoyed the potstickers

Random photo I have - looks like the entertainer found a couple to serenade, maybe an anniversary or something?

Soon the best part of the meal came - dessert! The kids each got cupcakes and then we had the banana bread pudding. YUM.

I have an interesting set of photos in which Izzy finds creative ways to eat her cupcake :rotfl: :

Apparently I didn't take any more photos from the evening, but we did a little bit more - heading back to the MK, rode Pirates, then Dugette upgraded her ticket to an AP, and then we headed out. While it wasn't really very late when we got back to the condo, once again it was storming so no swim time :( Instead I think we packed up a bit and then headed to bed, as it was already time to check out in the morning!

I have a little bit more from this evening. I think Lauren went to use the restroom and the girls were just being cute playing with each other. At that younger age, interaction between them was much more limited than this past trip, but it was pretty adorable and I got a bit of that on video:

(click to watch)

I have a few notes about the monorail ride back to MK: We chatted with a grandma (of a little girl named Lila) and she was really nice and enjoyed the girls, I think. I also was texting with a DIS-er (that I don't think is on here anymore) about meeting up, but we just didn't end up in the same place at the same time, since we didn't stick around MK very long that night.

I think this is on Pirates, which I believe we had a FP for:

Looks like Izzy decided to eat a Magic Band while I did my Annual Pass upgrade:

And then the monorail back to the car is where I have the pics of Aria wanting to sit by Izzy:

They were being very cute together this night, bonding and hugging during the ride.

We had left the MK early because we were tired, but we were also hoping to fit in a swim this night. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm as we drove back put an end to that. Izzy and I never got to try the pool at this resort. :sad2:

Also, the girls were having a cute toddler chat in the backseat. I have some video, but won't post since you can't see anything, but there are a lot of little "hi"s and giggles coming from the backseat. :lovestruc Also, that reminds me, I don't think we've mentioned this yet: there were some car rides this trip where Aria would go "My mommy!" (I think this was part of a game in their family?) and Izzy would get all upset and go, "MY mommy!" and then it would just go back and forth, with Aria knowing it's a game and Izzy thinking that she was going to lose her mommy in an argument. :rotfl2: She just wasn't old enough to get it, I guess. :lmao:

When we got back to the condo, they were still being silly together, running around and chasing each other.

Aria and Izzy climbed in my bed to play while I was packing, I think:

Izzy still used a paci at the time, but Aria didn't. However, in a gesture of true generosity, Izzy allowed Aria to borrow one of hers:

Silly kids!

Then it was a little hide and seek:

I have some video of that too:

(click to watch)

We headed to bed after that to rest up for our last day!

Y'all had fun despite the rain! Leave it to a couple of moms to figure out how to tag-team the park during a nap time monsoon! They look so sweet during the meet-- too bad they were sleepy/sad. They look cheerful during the monorail ride, though!
Thanks. Yeah, we could have used the monorail moods during the A&E meet. They were in pretty good moods most of that evening, though, just not as much post-nap. Waking up to meet royalty is rough. :rotfl:

I love how you can see the girls getting more comfortable with each other and a little friendship forming. So cute!

Aw I haven't seen those other pics, so sweet!! I do remember that My Mommy game though and Izzy not really understanding it was a game and getting upset lol!

I'm back with some videos! Trying to get Photobucket to reliably upload videos was making me want to throw my laptop out a window :badpc:, so I'm trying out Vimeo and seems to work well - let me know if you have any issues seeing these videos. Here's our Tusker House breakfast meets. Pardon all of my jabber about "do they have eyes?" - trying to engage little Izzy with what she understood at the time. :rotfl: Also, no Donald video as there's not much to see on that one. Enjoy:

I love how you can see the girls getting more comfortable with each other and a little friendship forming. So cute!
Thanks, I loved watching that happen. :goodvibes

Aw I haven't seen those other pics, so sweet!! I do remember that My Mommy game though and Izzy not really understanding it was a game and getting upset lol!
They were being super cute together that night. Haha, yeah, Izzy was super upset about that game. :rotfl2:

Bummer about the rain impacting thing but looks like you were making the best of it and the girls napping through at least some of it probably helped

Looked like a good meal at 'Ohana - and that hummus looked good. We'll have to remember that for next time as all the kids and adults in our family like hummus and with Judi not eating beef or pork I figure she could ask for the vegetarian

Girls seemed to be having a lot of fun with each other - well, other than the part where Izzy thought she might lose her Mommy. ;)

Just an FYI that the videos are working well for me as far as seeing / playing them
