When we were at WDW 11/11 to 11/18 (just for a frame of reference), Disney+ had released and besides some kiosks or tents in Disney Springs, you saw lots of signage, but that was all that told us that Disney+ was live. I half-expected "I was there" pins or something similar. In most the shops the Mandalorian merchandise took up a corner and the new movie merchandise dominated the other walls, two corners and the free standing shelves in the middle. The last corner was reserved for merchandise from the last two movies.
The Mandalorian merchandise during that week (2 episodes, mind you) consisted primarily of t-shirts, a helmet coffee mug, a Mando bobble head, and The Mandalorian's ship in the hot Wheels line of Star Wars vehicles. I got one of these for my son.
Clearly the new movie dominated your buying dollar and rightfully so. There's a chunk of change in the production of it. Yet now, with the Mandalorian so huge on Disney+, I wonder looking back if they were either stifling merchandise to prevent spoilers or simply did not consider how large a show it would grow to in a mere 3 episodes now. In retrospect, "The Child," was revealed in Episode 2, and I was on property not knowing this yet for my last 3 full days there, and there was no Baby Yoda in stores.
Is there now?
On that Monday night back at home I was able to binge the first two episodes and got completely hooked. My son said, "Baby Yoda?" I looked at him and was like, Whaaa? Meanwhile my wife from the other room fired back, "I already knew... it's all over Facebook." (I don't have an account.)
Oh and I agree with other Posters, I do know people at work who are putting off Disney+ until Christmas.
