A basic will is important when you have children! Gotta name guardians, trustees, etc. Ours was last done in 1990, and we have been talking to an elder law atty about making a new one, with the whole end of life documents, power of atty, etc. I have been calling around for quotes, and with a special elder lawyer, will plus supporting documents, the lowest I could find was $1100. Trusts are significantly more, but I am not looking for that now. You shouldn't need that level of lawyer, so it should be less than that, and could probably draw something up online.
I'm sure lawyer pricing is dependent on the region you live in also. I've been dragging my feet on it since I heard the cost, but DH is 65, grandchildren on the horizon, we need to do something.
Travel concerns - DH has a scuba trip to the Philippines in May. He's flying direct to Manila from the US, some of his group are going through Hong Kong. Curious how that will go.
