Where is the nearest car rental company to AKL, other than the airport (they are out of the size we want for our trip)? Thank you!

I’m not sure about their open status but there are Alamo locations at the Walt Disney World Dolphin and at the Car Care Center near Magic Kingdom parking.

Yes, Jambo DVC villas. I don't think anything will be open until the whole resort opens, based on the conversation I had with MS this morning. I posted this on the Jambo thread:

I talked to MS and he first said he was told Jambo was opening July 1. I told him it disappeared from the website (he didn't know), and so he reached out to a manager. Then he said they don't know what date it will open the DVC villas, that Jambo House is owned by Walt Disney Travel and DVC only rents a couple floors from them. They need a decision from Walt Disney Travel on Jambo House. I asked then if that means that the hotel side would open at the same time as DVC rooms, and he thought so. He offered to help me change or cancel, but said if I really want Jambo I should hang on. No idea when they would know, but said MS would contact us by 7 days before arrival if we had to move or cancel. He said they are currently working on reservations before July 1.

Hi, we too had reservation here, we are still on hold(2hours) CM is trying to find a resort for us to move. We found out both of our resorts won’t be open till 2022..?? Sorry. We keep ya’ll posted

They told you for sure Jambo won't open in July? The DVC website still shows July 10.

Yes. Still on hold . CM still has us on hold. Our reservation was in December 2020.

For heavens sakes, then why does their website say:
All Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World are now open with the exception of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House which will open July 10.

So what do you all think: is it better to just wait and see if AKL opens up or is it better to call Disney and be proactive in switching resorts?

Obviously I don’t want to stay anywhere else, but I’d hate to see on MDE that they suddenly our resort had been changed.

may want to call, the sooner the better to move your reservations ..., yesterday we found out AKL wasn’t open during our split stay in December . We were on the phone all day and night. We are now staying KV . Sorry for the bad news... Good Luck

I’m getting mixed information and hopefully someone can clarify. Are Jambo DVC rooms opening next month? Or near future? I keep reading Jambo is not opening all and some people including a dvc rental rep say they are opening 7/10.

Ugh. Just had an online chat with a CM who claimed that according to "the system" AKL Jambo (DVC and non-DVC resort rooms) and the Wilderness Lodge (non-DVC) would both be closed until 2022. That seems extreme not to mention extremely disappointing since we have an AKL CL reservation for December 2020.

That seems extreme not to mention extremely disappointing since we have an AKL CL reservation for December 2020.

Ugh is right. Then why is Jambo still bookable even for this summer? That significantly reduces DVC capacity, how do they handle the points and availabilty? I don’t think they can do this, honestly. It may be that is what it has now because they don’t want people booking it in 2020 and 2021 until they know they need Jambo capacity for DVC.

Well, they are supposed to monitor and open Jambo when people can’t be moved. CL is the only real issue as nothing else matches.

I think those things can happen as long as guest is there to meet them.

I switched my dvc stay from jambo to a boardwalk view studio today. After reading the article on wdw news saying they would be open to dvc only but just having the pool open and nothing else.

I have no interest in a hotel that isn't even going to supply food to its guests. Im not walking to kidani to do these things and honestly that hotel isn't equipped to handle that kind of traffic. So no bar, no food and no shop. Why even open then?

And wouldn't you know....We finally got an AKL CL Studio for 4 nights in a row for this September. I remember the excitement when I told my wife "Finally".
