Outlander Season 4 (Spoilers)

They talked about this after the episode, and the producers didn't like it either. Especially the female producers. But they had to go with it, too important to the plot line. They could make it up to us by skipping one of the other rapes.

I have a terrible memory, so I don't remember that happening to Bree in the book! Very sad, and all I thought is that Jamie is going to go medieval when he finds out. All I remember about Roger is that he has some terrible occurrences happen to him as well.

I liked that they kept close to the book regarding the first meeting between Bree and Jamie. It was very emotional. How will Roger recover from getting hit by Jamie?

Poor Roger. He has some terrible trials and I'm sure they won't skip any. Loved the very emotional scene with Bri meeting Jamie, but couldn't understand Jamie's dialogue. Will watch again, with the sound way up!

That's a good idea! I watched it from a hospital room (as a visitor), but forgot headphones - played it softly and had to replay several times between interruptions and trying to understand what they were saying! Lol

How do you use the spoiler bubble?
Spoiler (highlight to read): I found myself wishing Bree would've just told Litzy what happened instead of telling her to go back to sleep. Not a good communicator!

that Roger deserved to get punched in the face because he left Bree when she was vulnerable. He shouldn't have left Bree, how will he make up for doing that?

How do you use the spoiler bubble?

When you write a new message there's that toolbar right above the text box. Just to the left of the camera icon is what looks like a page and if you hover over it it says "Insert". Click on that and select Spoiler from the menu. You'll give the spoiler a title, then whatever your spoiler is, just make sure to type it in between the two SPOILER boxes.

Agree that he had what was coming to him with that beating but it leads to a whole lot of hurt that affects more than just him so next week will be exciting for sure!

I must be in the minority but I don't think Roger deserved what happened. He and Brianna had a fight and she told him to leave. When we were much younger DH and I had those kinds of fights and one of us would leave BUT we always came back as did Roger. He had no way of knowing what would happen next and that no one would do anything. It is one thing to be a historian, but not being from that time period you can't quite get it. He did go back but a series of misunderstandings occur as they did in the book. Brianna thinks he left for the stones, Lizzie jumped to all kinds of conclusions, Claire doesn't tell Jamie who raped their daughter, and that led to the ending that occurred in the last episode.

I just thought it was kind of funny that the first sight Brianna has of her father is while he is relieving himself behind a building.

If Roger has escorted her back to the inn. He probably would have left her at the door. It would not have been proper for a man to see a woman to her chamber during that time.

I love the books. I love the series. I am OK with the changes. They are different mediums. You simply can't film everything the way Diana wrote it. No one could. I missed the fully Lollybrook story. But Laura just wasn't available for filming. They explained in their podcast. They waited as long as they could hoping it would work with her. I'm fine with the way it was filmed. I will always have the "book version". That will never change.

For example, Matt explained they wanted to film Willy falling into the Privy. They just couldn't figure out how to film it. A 12 yo boy is big. A toilet seat hole is rather small. In order for him to "fall", the hole would have had to be very large. A large privy hole would have looked ridiculous. So they did a "nod" with they opening credit (throwing snake out of privy.)

Also about the episode without J/C. They wanted to give the actors a break. Remember, they are people who work really hard.

Roger should have taken her back to the inn and made sure she was safe. In an earlier season, Jamie slept at Claire's doorway to make sure no one came in, why didn't Roger at least do something similar? Hmm. Roger didn't even try to keep Bree safe. As a guy who claims to care for her, he left her when she was most vulnerable.
Even nowadays this is a concern and Roger should have known better.

Eh, I'm kind of agreeing with tazdev3225. I think it just didn't even occur to Roger how dangerous it was for a woman at that time. Jamie knows, of course, how bad it is. Roger is a product of the 1960s where women didn't need to be guarded every where they went and Brianna is very independent anyway. I'm sure as he spends more time in the past, he'll get used to how dangerous it is.

Neither Roger nor Bree were aware of the danger. I mean, everyone in that tavern knew what was happening, and no one was concerned enough to even raise a brow. I think the door was open the whole time? That is nuts! Jamie beating up Roger jogged some of my terrible memory...poor, poor Roger :sad2: Although, I may as well be going through the story for the first time as I was again surprised by certain revelations

Thank you!

I don't like the way Bree and Roger "argue and go or send away". I know there were extenuating circumstances, but one of the things DH and I have always done is apologize to eachother after a spat. I mean, they're [technically] married and just had a beautiful night together! And Bree was angry with Roger for not telling her something, but she does the same thing!

Whoever did the makeup for Roger after Jamie beat him up did a fantastic job!

Maybe Roger's brain disappeared at the time, lol. I'm sure he won't be doing that again. Just realized I'm talking about Roger as if he is real. :rotfl:
