Wish I could like this post many times! We had so many of the same experiences today. Sorry about the disappointment- we were disappointed as well. We are not locals and made a long-distance drive and have been frustrated by the crowds. I actually did not feel safe with the arrival into DHS today. For social distancing, it’s tough to have everyone arriving at the same time to try to secure a BG. It was madness and certainly not a safe feeling at all. Once the system debacle happened, we got into a loooooonnnnng line for GET. After some time, other guests started coming back through the line to let us know they couldn’t do anything for us. We decided to leave the line and salvage the day. Later on, we got back into a shorter GET line go see if we did something wrong (although I knew it wasn’t on our end), and received the FP for any ride except MMRT. We already rode Smugglers Run at that point so we used it for Slinky.
It was crowded everywhere, not just Galaxy’s Edge. Because of the glitch at 10, people just waited around for the next drop at 2. I wish that Disney would have just decided to NOT open BGs at 2, if the ride was having such issues. GET was telling people, over and over, to try again at 2 and there would be lots of spots because so many were shut out at 10. This got many hopes up, only to be dashed when hardly any BGs opened at 2. I will never condone the nastiness that some were directing at the CMs, but also a little empathy toward guests would go a long way. I know they are frustrated and tired of dealing with angry guests, but these trips are expensive and many folks we talked to in lines today were not locals.
On a positive note, this was our third park of the trip so far, and we are still feeling the magic! I am so grateful to all the CMs who are working, and we’re happy to contribute to the Florida tourism industry. Patience and grace are really needed right now, while the new reality is still being worked out.
