Restroom work in Club/Lab Disney Magic

Did others receive an email from DCL this morning about work on the bathrooms within Oceaneer Club and Lab impacting upcoming Magic sailings? It sounds like only one of the sides of kids club will have a restroom available and there will be construction work or other limited parts of the club/lab. Wondering why this didn’t happen during the 2023 dry dock. I am going to be upset if the club/lab are majorly impacted but not sure what the actual impact will be.

^^^ that was my thought as well.

The Club and Lab are connected on the Magic. Did the letter mention CMs would escort kids to the "other" space for restrooms? Or maybe if both spaces are in secured programming, kids will just be directed to the open restrooms - only needing an escort when 1 side is Open House.

I honestly wouldn't let it worry me, other than helping my child make sure s/he knows where the available restroom is located so they can get there in time. And maybe making extra sure that they use the bathroom before drop-off.

I’m not worried about the restroom issue so much as the statement that areas of the club or lab will be blocked off - leading me to think construction may be happening and space will be limited.

Kids entering secure programming are being encouraged to go before they head in and to let counselors know early so they can be directed to the nearest restroom, like @lanejudy said this could mean moving everyone through the “secret passage” if we need to

Please if you’re giving ducks to the kids it’s better not to bring them into the Oceaneer Club /Lab but to keep them safe and happy in their suitcase! (Dealing with a pretty bad problem of a few ducks that went down the toilets somewhere on deck 5 on the Magic so they’re ripping it out and updating them anyway asap) The manager office got flooded and the nearest restroom for counselors is out of service so we have to run a deck down now.

When we’re in secure programming we now have a special duck drawer to keep them safe while they’re in here but there’s no way we can watch for this in Open House.

If you expect little kids to be able to successfully tell people “early” that they will need to use the restroom - that is a plan for disaster.

We know believe me, most kids are pretty good about coming up to us to let us know but we get the occasional PA (potty accident) in the spaces.

How long is the work expected to take? Are areas other than the restrooms blocked off? If kids are flushing ducks, they could conceivably flush them anywhere and not just in the kids club so it seems like a larger problem. (Why flush ducks??? Ugh).

I would imagine it will get worse as kids won’t come tell counselors in time given that the restrooms may be farther away or require an escort. Do you know how long the repairs will take or if other areas of the club or lab are blocked off or inaccessible?

As far as we’ve been told when the work teams come in they can’t be in the same space with the kids and they have to access the piping in the walls. Random stuff getting flushed actually happens more often than you think and they come in at night to fix whatever got thrown down the loo which is a lot of underwear for some reason. No word on how long this will be until turnaround day when they can open it all up while guests disembark

Got it, thanks. Hopefully most work can be completed during turnaround.

Hi is there any update? Some are reporting that on the most recent sailing half of the entire club was closed (the Toy Story side) for the whole sailing.

I came here to ask the same question, we sail on Friday and my kids are going to be disappointed if they can only go to the lab on a 7 day cruise.

We got off the magic yesterday and I can tell you that only the lab was open and there was no open houses for oceaneers except the first few hours onboard. Also, and this was not known until we were onboard, only about 1/4 of the nursery space was open and there was no open house at all. They told us when we first got on that we could look over the gate and the space for those babies was so tiny that I was not putting our 14 month old in there at all! This was disney cruise #8 for us and by far the worst experience we have ever had (so many more issues than just kids club). I hope your sailing goes smoothly and is much more magical than ours!

Did DCL send any notice of the partial closure of the nursery?? The email I received certainly didn’t indicate that half of the entire kids area would be closed.

We’re enhancing our restroom facilities in the Disney’s Oceaneer Lab and Disney’s Oceaneer Club. We will be refurbishing one restroom at a time, and children will have access to the alternate bathroom within the Youth Activities spaces. Certain areas within the Youth Activities space may also be unavailable while the work is completed.

Our Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are connected, allowing children the ability to move between the two spaces at times throughout the day to enjoy the various activities and offerings in both areas. Specially trained Youth Activities counselors will be on hand to direct or escort your clients’ child between the two spaces, as needed.

Kids of all ages can experience the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab during Open House hours. During all other operating hours, children must meet the age requirement (3 to 10 years of age) and be fully toilet-trained to check in to Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab. Children who do not meet requirements may visit and participate during the Youth Activities Open House times.

We appreciate your clients sailing with us and look forward to providing them and their family with an enjoyable cruise.

This was the email we received….nothing about the nursery and very misleading about the kids club!!!
