Scott & Vicki's Art Deco Wedding and Disneymoon May 29, 2011 *Wedding Day Report!

Two posts in one evening I am on a role! :cool1:

I am in looooooooooovvvvvvveeee with movies, DF and I both are so we decided to use of a lot of the movie feel in the wedding and it fits well with our theme.

Let me start with our engagement photos. We rented out an old theater and shot our photos, here is a taste of it for you!

Going with the whole Art Deco movie theme I have come up with many different ideas with the help of projectwedding.com and a few other sites

Our Program Idea

We made a few mock ups and they turned out great I can't wait to print the final product

The Ceremony location is going to be held at an old theater in town

I will be using this idea for our escort cards

Now something I am really proud of is are movie posters. We have made 4 themed from different movies. Some about our bridal party others about us. Heres the inspiration for the first one we made

Here is a hodgepoge of randomness, stuff I have made and plan to use for the day.

Here are some my DIY projects

This one surprisingly didn't take that long, I enjoyed making it! We are going to use the parasol for our Thank You cards through shutterfly :)

Hi! Great update.. all your details look fantastic, the art-deco/early 20th century theme is really original! :goodvibes

You've reminded me I need to start thinking about a candy buffet for our wedding too.. must find somewhere that sells glass jars like that!

Emma princess:

LOVE all your ideas! :) So glad you came back!! I am also an at-home bride and will be having our honeymoon at POFQ too!!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more of your ideas! popcorn::

I love all your posts! I love the theater location--it's so unique and gorgeous!
I'm in love with Art Deco too, so I'm incorporating that into my wedding as well...but kind of with a modernized twist,

Can't wait to see what else you share!

Thanks hun! TJ Maxx all the for the jars girl! and get this...they were all under $10 they have a fantastic selection. I started by candy little by little over the past few months. You have to figure about a half a pound of candy per person. I also found the scoops and candy bags from a seller on ebay let me know if you are interested I can send you the link I got a great deal!

Thanks, Thanks!! I didn't realize how beautiful that time period was at the beginning of my planning it wasn't until I started checking out blogs like ruffledblog.com and rocknrollbride.com that my eyes were open to the awesomeness that is Art Deco, I can't wait to see it come together!

So a little bit of disappointment befell me yesterday. Here's the rundown. 3 years ago when DF and myself first went to Disney together we tried to get a reservation at Le Cellier, well it being less than 45 days out we didn't stand a chance of getting something, so I had high hopes we would get in this time it being over 4 months from now, well I was booking our ADR yesterday and on all the days that we are going to be there, they were completely booked for lunch and dinner:sad2: Oh Le Cellier will I ever get to meet thee!

le-cellier-disney.jpg

I will definitely be checking again closer to the day, something might be available, that's how we got into Cindy's 3 years ago, they were completely booked and I called the day before we left and we got in, keep your fingers crossed for me :goodvibes

Speaking of dining, the only thing I have not booked for our trip is breakfast, any suggestions. Last time we went, we only had breakfast at Cindy's which was quite good, but we are doing this for dinner this time around, anyone have any suggestions???

More Wedding Stuff

I just bought our cake cutting set on ebay yesterday, hopefully I can get it engraved somewhere like the picture

img70m.jpg

I think I posted pictures out our cake earlier in the thread, but I have completely switched gears since then here is the new design

We bought these flowers to use for it

I found the jars at the dollar tree and I got the lights at Joann Fabrics. I plan on getting the plexiglass at a hardware store.

I picked up our sand ceremony set at David's bridal. I plan on using black, silver, and purple sand to fit our colors

Hair and Makeup

I am torn between two looks, maybe you girls can help me. I found these pictures online of another bride, let me know what you think :)

Make Up Ideas

Since our colors are purple black and silver I am thinking of incorporating purple in my make up like this

...but I totally can't resist going the classic route to fit the theme

What do you girls think?

Found your PJ through Emma's PJ! I absolutely LOVE all your plans for the wedding! So creative! I love weddings that are unique to the couple and really represent their style and interests. So awesome! We tried to do that for our wedding (July '09)...it was very Disney, of course! We also went to WDW for our honeymoon followed by a Disney cruise. Have you decided against that at this point? If you want to find out how WE felt about the honeymoon portion of our cruise, my honeymoon TR is in my signature!

Can't wait to see how the rest of your planning turns out. :thumbsup2

Oh and definitely keep trying for Le Cellier! On one trip, I was trying to get an 'Ohana ADR for months and checked almost everyday online. Finally, like 2 days before our trip, one popped up at exactly the right time!! Also, if you can't get an ADR, I would try to show up at Le Cellier when it opens at noon. We were in Epcot on the 4th of July, which SHOULD have been the busiest day of the year and I was shocked that they were taking walk-ups at Chefs when we checked in for our noon ADR. Granted, it wasn't Le Cellier but it's worth a try....

Hmm I think I like the second look.. you look just like Princess Tiana! princess: - and the purple eye shadows, that'll be wonderful with your theme, could you maybe do that for the evening reception, and the more classic look for the ceremony/photos? :goodvibes

Emma princess: x

Love what you are doing - cant wait to read more. My vote is for the first look regarding the makeup. I think it really stands out and the colours are lovely. Can imagine it looking fantastic on photos.

Thanks!! We did end up going against the Disney cruise. I went back and forth with this for months, but we decided to save it for another time and just do disney. Hopefully some time in the future I will see myself on the Dream :goodvibes I will definitely keep at Le Cellier, I think the fact that I can't get in is making more intrigued and therefore more motivated

I think your right there is no saying that I can't have two looks...an excuse for more pampering....I love it :thumbsup2 Oh and that's a picture of another bride, but I do enjoy Princess Tiana, last time I went to Disney the movie wasn't out yet so this time I am determined to get a picture :)

Narcoossees Wishes Extravaganza!

So being the bride that I am I wanted do something special for DF's and my first day in Disney. At first I wanted to do a Wishes or Illuminations cruise, but that turned out to be kind of expensive, then I thought about planing a private dining experience, again kind of expensive so I started looking around the boards and the Disney website and I came across Narcoossees and I thought how romantic that would be to have dinner at the GF the first night and on the Narcoossees page it says that you can book your dinner ressies to occur during the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, and I knew this was the one, to add to the magic I am getting a cake delivered to our table, I am super excited about this :cool1: I mentioned that I am doing a Mickey's delight cake earlier in the thread. My plans are for chocolate cake and peanut butter cup filling yummmm:love:

I just sat down and read your entire pj. I am LOVING your plans so far! Everything is going to be beautiful!!!

Cake Cutter Came In Today!!!!

Yeah our cake cutter in today! I originally saw this design at pottery barn, but it was kind of on the expensive side, so I went to ebay and found it for half of the price.

photo-24.jpg

I thought I would post the progress of our invitations. We orginally had a different design as posted earlier in the PJ, but we decided this fit our them better

DF hard a work, lol

photo-26.jpg

On the Disney front I finally finished booking all of our dining. I got an offer from Disney through email that was pretty good for deluxe dining, it turns out it was only $300 more to upgrade from the other dining package :) I looked at a bunch of dining reviews in the restaurant section of the disboards so hopefully I got some good ones. DF is not really into the character dining so I tried to get less of those this time around, but I had to put us in at O'hana I have been hearing some awesome stuff about there. I went ahead a booked breakfast I am super excited about this, now only if I could get us in at Le Cellier

WOW! I really love all the work you've done with the theming for your wedding, and looks so excellent!

And I think you and I have a bit in common - I'm also currently in grad school, and planning a wedding :) We are having an at home wedding but honeymooning in Disney, staying at POR. AND we decided that for our first night there we would like to do dinner at Narcoossee's, hopefully during the fireworks. I am very interested in your idea about ordering a special cake for your DF. How exactly did you go about doing that? Do you mind sharing how much it cost? My finace absolutely LOVES cake so this would be perfect for me to do... plus, he proposed on a cruise by ordering a cake, so it would be fitting that I give him one on our honeymoon. I love the idea!

Ok, so I was just on your PJ and said the same thing! I see major similarities in what we are doing :) What degree are you working on? I did political science for my undergrad and I decided I might as well continue with it in Grad school. FI was set to graduate this May just like yours, but he is extending his program to bring up some of his grades, it really is a small world, lol. We are also eating at Narcoossee's on our first night. If you are trying to get in during the fireworks just call Disney's Advanced Dining and ask the cast member you speak to when they occur and they will set you up during the correct time. I have not ordered the cake yet because I was told you can only order two weeks in advance and no later than 48 hours to the day, but all you have to do is call the Disney's "cake hotline" 407-827-2253 or Grand Floridian private dining 407-824-2578 or 407-824-2474 and they can set you up with someone who can make the cake for you. Check out these two threads, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1859670
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2413710 I got all my information on how to order cakes in Disney World from here. You can get your cake delivered almost anywhere in Disney for a fee, but since we our getting cakes directly from the source (Grand Floridian Bakery) I don't believe they charge extra to have cakes delivered to their own restaurants. I am not sure exactly how much it costs, but from what I gathered from the boards it will be around $45 depending on if I want the chocolate topper on top which is an additional $15. Thanks for following along I can't wait to hear of your plans as they progress :)

A few little updates today, so after much debate I have decided to do the dollar dance. DF and I had a very hard time deciding this because I was worried people might think it's a little cheesy but after much consideration we decided to do it and I figured this was an excellent opportunity to buy a purse to hold the dollars! Since our theme is Art Deco I went on a mad ebay search for vintage purses and I came across this

B7Q6K3gmkKGrHqUOKnIEy3HFROG1BMztniuSgg0_3.jpg

I was thinking, this is so perfect! Then I saw that it was almost $300 :scared1: so I almost fell of of cloud nine and then I stumble across this

photo-27.jpg

photo-28.jpg

CBTCfgCWkKGrHqZiE0EEUhcgBNHCZZf5eg0_12.jpg

Almost identical to first! and get this only $15. I guess the first one was actually from the 1920s and the second was a replica, either way it didn't matter to me. It's the perfect size, big enough to hold dollars, but small enough to sit right on my wrist :)

I'm working on my master's for library science, to become a school library media specialist. My undergrad was in English and Secondary Education, but after I did my student teaching I wasn't sure that was what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life, so I looked into other options.

Thank you for all of the info on the cakes! Those threads look super helpful :)
