i'm considering doing something similar to this for our cruise:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=41701263&postcount=2362

maybe more of a travelling mickey than a roaming gnome though. what do you guys think? just a bit of a laugh, but would people join in and keep it going? i just like the idea of seeing how far he can go in two weeks.

Sounds like fun .. count us in :goodvibes

That is cute... can we do more than one? I would love doing that as well. Maybe we could have several and start a new dis tradition...lol
I don't see any reason why everyone who wanted one couldn't do it ... it would be kind of like signing everyones yearbook at the end of school. I am willing to sign more than one :goodvibes

I was more getting a feeling of what people thought, instead of actually signing anyone up. I was wondering whether people would keep it going or if I'd go to the trouble of doing it and it'd get lost somewhere along the way because someone thought it was a naff idea. Think I will go ahead with it though, sounds like people are game for keeping him going :)

Not sure what "naff" is ... care to define ;) Could you also include "tat" or is it "tatt" :confused3 ... thanks :flower3:

It's often called "Mickey Tag," played with a Mickey Mouse head-shaped magnet. I like the full sheet magnet specific to our cruise details - and lots of room for signatures.

I suppose we could give it away at the end to a lucky winner attending our Group Lunch on the final Sea Day - sort of a door prize.

We can incorporate Chris&Jeremy's Mickey gnome image on the magnet.

I'm thinking it might be something Karen wants to keep :confused3 but we could also start one as a door prize for those who would have more difficulty printing up a magnet sheet or whatever it's printed on.

I was thinking the same... how fun it will be to see how each person makes theirs and find it on your door to sign and pass along. It could be more fun that way and less likely to have it come up missing as everyone that wants one has his/her own.

Naf is a slang word. Means things like tacky, rubbish, uncool, old fashioned, so I guess tat is a good meaning too!! In a bad way it can be used as 'naff off', said instead of the horrid ''f' off'!

I like it. We defenitly keep it going. And will do more than one.

Glad people think it's a good idea, last cruise I decorated a White board with the intention of getting fellow dissers to sign it but it broke on the way in. So I'm loving the idea that we can get something like this going. It is something I'd be looking at keeping afterwards but there's nothing to stop someone making another one and using it as a prize.

I'm hoping that it ends up doing the rounds of deck 6!!! Really nice thing to be part of!!!!

It might be especially fun for those with kids, kind of a "Flat Stanley" for the ship, maybe we could write where we are from so the kids could see all the different nationalities.

I'm not sure if Disney still does it, but on our 10 night cruise the kids were given a DCL passport and they could ask Cast Members to sign it along with where they come from. We saw some kids with them and we went to the kids club and asked if we could participate ... they thought it was a great idea, and told us if we filled the book there would be a prize. We bumped into "Ducky" around the ship and asked him to sign it, which he did, and then proceeded to to draw Donald. It was our best souvenir of the trip and we paid nothing for it ... who says Disney doesn't do free

Hey everybody! We just got back last night at 1:30 AM from WDW. We had a blast watching the fireworks and Lorelei was so much fun to watch meeting the characters :goodvibes

I have so much catching up to do! Welcome to all the new cruisers  Hope everyone gets their upgrades. Good luck to you all. Roaming gnome sounds like so much fun... I love those type of keepsakes.

I picked up the scrapbooking borders and matching chipboard stickers for you two ladies. Deb I was just going to bring them along on the cruise, would you rather I sent them to you? My DH told me I was a sweetheart for picking them up for you guys ... I just smiled ... yeah it is such a hardship to go scrapbooking shopping with other people's money  .. and also pick up a few more goodies for myself ... cuz I'm just that sweet :rolleyes1

It would be fine if you want to hold it til the cruise because I won't be using them til after the cruise. Thanks so much for picking them up and your husband is right, you are a sweetie for doing so! Just let me know how much I owe you and I can either give it to you on the cruise or mail you the money. Thanks again!!!!

That is just awesome... I love Ducky.. he is a very kind man.
He drew a picture for my daughter for me. It was so cool... She is an optometrist and had a chance one time to give Mickey an eye exam. It was so cute... Mickey bent over a little, covered his eye with one hand and was reading an eye chart she was holding. I took the picture to Ducky and asked if he could draw something like that for her. He did...:worship: it didn't have her in it but had the same Mickey holding his eye and the eye chart being held by a big Mickey type hand..... She so cherish's that drawing and has it hanging in her office... It was her birthday present as I can never find her anything special anymore..... I scored!:banana::banana:

For those of you with kiddos still looking at what to do in Madeira:

We booked a private half-day taxi tour with http://www.danielmadeirataxis.com/

They have been great with correspondence, and are even providing an infant car seat (for 15 month old) and booster seat for our 5 year old. They are also going to incorporate in a stop for the toboggan ride at our request.

I just knew the kiddos could not handle a full day tour, and we wanted to tour early when kids are the happiest. Thought I would pass along the info - car seats, half-day, and small vehicle were all pluses for us... along with the positive reviews I have read over on CruiseCritic and other boards. I asked her today if they still have availability that day, and they do. :thumbsup2

This is who we used last year and are using this year for the Madeira tours I am organizing. I recommend them very highly.

We had two vans with children under 2 for the tours and it worked out very well for them.

Okay, after seeing the price for this IGT Category on the cruise I caved and you can add me as a new guest on board. :sail: Will be traveling solo. Looks like I have a LOT of reading to do to catch up :). Not sure what my cabin is yet but I am early dining.

Please give some info on your Gibraltar tour including cost.

I had a lot of people respond to the Gibraltar tour with Paul and I hope I got back to everyone. I have even more respect for people who organize these events now as it was very difficult for me to keep the people who PM'd me and emailed me privately straight. Right now I have our group of 4, a group of 2 and a single of 1. Is there another single out there who would like to join us to make 8 in the van? Please PM if so.

Thanks
