I usually get the gifts but nothing here (Nor Cal) so far. I'm psyched about Austria, although I was pulling for a Scandinavian adventure. Oh well, maybe 2015.

We got the DVD package today. I was hoping for Japan or Brazil or Moscow/st p but am looking forward to Scotland and seeing the 2014 dates! It's all good!

Keeping our fingers crossed for Hawaii!

Keeping our fingers crossed for Hawaii!

They had Hawaii many moons ago, in fact I believe it was the first year of ABD's incarnation and all the information I could find on the internet says it was scuttled because people were not happy with it. I think the complaint was it was too resort based but I don't remember for sure.

No package for us yet? :(. We got the Brave DVD last time. Do you think they forgot us? Lol

The first time they sent out packages it was something like 4 weeks from the first reported packaged being received until I got mine. Give it a few days, I received mne today.

I got the package in the mail yesterday as well - so exciting!!!:cool1:

So, does everyone think that Austria is the ONLY new itinerary being released, in addition to the few changes they listed in the note? I'm very excited about Austria- I just don't remember if there is usually more than 1 new trip launched each year.

Thanks sayhello Excited to hear about a release date! Can't wait for the 22nd to see the dates. DW and I are planning our first ABD trip for next year.

The letter sure makes it sound like Austria is the only new itinerary. Usually there's two or more new itineraries introduced at the same time, but it sounds like they're making a lot of changes, so maybe they decided to be conservative this year.

You're welcome, DDuck4Life! Just remember the warning I give everyone -- ABD's are addictive!!! ;)

You have NO IDEA how excited I am, I have already moved my money around for the deposit, and narrowed it down to Italy for sure, but just not sure which Italy trip.

Sounds like some awesome Germany trip is going to be announced, since they included the Sound of Music... ugh I feel like a kid on Christmas, just announce the dates already! I so do not want to wait until May 22... lol :)

I have never booked a trip like this in my entire life, and I am so excited , sad thing is once I booked I have to count down the dates (I want to do an adult only trip) but at least making payments will keep me excited and make the time pass.

Thanks, and until then... we have 12 days! :)

Austria! Duh! I was thinking Germany...

oh dear... I have always wanted to go to Austria....

No I am sticking to Italy... sigh

OK just read the ENTIRE thread, and I am so beyond excited now! and it is over a year away for me to go, but all the feedback I read on here, how can I NOT be excited.

I should be working, but instead I am reading all the exciting stuff about ABD... I can't wait until I get gifts :)

I think I am going to stick with Italy (as technically it is a Christmas present for the hubs, and he said Italy, France or Germany are in his top three Europe destinations) although that previous Austria trip, sounds truly magical.

I am sure I will be posting on here like a lunatic until May 22, I will just feel better once it is booked :)

The Viva Italia trip is one of ABD's most popular trips (just look at the number of departures!). It also looks like they're making some changes to the itinerary this year... it will be interesting to see what!

So I'm sure you & your hubby will love Italy. You can do Austria the next year. ;) ABD's are totally addictive!

The last version of this trip from the 2009 brochure was:

Storybook Kingdoms
Prague, Salzburg and Vienna (8 days/7 nights):

  • Take a privately guided tour of Prague's highlights, including the world's largest ancient castle
  • Sweeten your day with a fresh strudel demonstration and tasting
  • Stroll through Salzburg's Mirabell Gardens - as seen in "The Sound of Music"
  • Follow your guide through the medieval village of Cesky Krumlov - a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Discover the mysterious trick fountains and grottos of Hellbrun Castle
  • Boat across an underground lake, and slide on the chute of a former Salzburg salt mine
  • Experience the Vienna Zoo after closing for an exclusive feast in the Emperor's Plaza and a privately guided tour
  • View the castle-lined splendor of the Danube River
  • Private marionette show with special behind-the-scenes demonstration
  • Explore Vienna's Festschloss Hof: Hapsburgs' country estate, carriage rides, petting zoo, schnapps tasting and pottery making for Junior Adventurers
  • Enjoy a violin lesson from young Mozart as you dine in one of Europe's oldest restaurants
  • Live the royal life at Schonbrunn Palace - with special activities straight out of Imperial times

We did this trip in 2009 and had a wonderful time. The salt mine is a lot of fun. The Danube trip was OK. The Mirabell Gardens were right outside the backdoor of our hotel and you strolled through them at your leisure. There was no guided tour of them. The last night at the Vienna Zoo was absolutely amazing. There is a lot to see during your free time in Vienna and the guides were very helpful with securing tickets to the Vienna Boys Choir and the Lipazoner(SP) Stallions show. We went at the tail end of Oktoberfest and the guides made sure we knew where to go to enjoy the festivities.

I would highly recommend this trip.

I'm sure they are quite addictive, I haven't even been on one yet and I already want to do another. :lmao:

Viva Italia is the one we were looking at as well. Hopefully the changes are for the better. I love that it's a popular destination gives us more flexibility in the dates we can go.

How soon do you recommend booking? As soon as the dates are released?

How soon do you recommend booking? As soon as the dates are released?

A popular adventure fills up quickly and the price per person increases as well, sometimes in just a day! They came up with a DVC member perk wherein a member will get release date prices regardless when they book. I guess this came about because the ABD senior veep used to be one of the DVC execs. I guess unless you are a DVC member, your best bet would be to book on release day and commit within 14 days since the deposit is not refundable beyond that time. Hope that helped. :)
