9/16/2017 Magic Transatlantic from Barcelona

Sorry to be so late to the party. Life keeps getting in the way.
RedSox68, thanks for all your work, and sorry you had to cancel. I understand scary medical conditions as well.

This will be our 11th cruise, first transatlantic, first time in Europe. Learning about one way airfare has been quite a lesson.

Dave and Kathy, drclaws and DVC Kathy, cabin 7554.

The postcard exchange sounds like fun.

Kathy

:welcome: You are added to both the stateroom list and the postcard list. I remember when we did the transatlantic in 2007, it was me and my DD first time to Europe -- or even overseas! It was so exciting and you will have a great time.

I have booked trips for later this year and the Cuban cruise next year -- and hoping I can at least do them. The ones this year stay closer to home, so that's comforting.

I will miss meeting all of you for sure after having gotten to know everyone -- but maybe next time ;)

Cruise is paid in full! Surgery is done! Cannot wait until the activity booking window opens up to get Palo brunch and dinner. Now I need to start seriously looking at the excursions.

Congrats!

Small update -- Our info on the first page is all correct, except that the second pair of grandparents will not be sailing after all. Could you remove just that phrase, please?

Thank you SO much :)

Well today is meant to be my packing day for a holiday to Disney but so far all I keep doing is looking at tours lol. I can't believe how unprepared I feel for booking day in June! I thought there would be more tours showing but someone on another group pointed out some of the toys (like the Cadiz horse one) say that they are not available in 2017. Its so weird.

So sorry you had to cancel, RedSox68. I was looking forward to meeting you, but hopefully our paths will cross on another adventure sometime. Thanks for continuing to maintain the thread.

I'm completely unprepared for booking excursions... mainly because I have a trip sneaking up on me in May that I'm also rather unprepared for LOL. Also still trying to finish up organizing photos and blog entries for my last trip. But I'm sure it will all work out, and I'm super excited that September is drawing ever closer.

I agree completely with this. I think it is so odd that if you are only looking at Transatlantic excursions not all ports show up on the list. The missing ports appear in European/Med cruises.

When I have access to my laptop tomorrow, I think I am going to send them an email. My window opens May 19th.

Let us know what they say. I emailed a few months back and they just said they would be updated before booking date but that only leaves 2 weeks now. I'm Gold so have a few more weeks to book but expected them to all be showing by this week as it doesn't give long for Platinum cruisers like yourselves to decide.

I sent this email this morning:

Dear Disney Cruise Line,

My husband and I are on the September 16 westbound transatlantic cruise. Our onboard activities/port adventures booking window opens up on May 19. I've been checking Port Excursions for transatlantic cruises, and I noticed that not all of our ports are included.

Someone guided me towards the Europe and Mediterranean port adventures to find our missing ports. I believe that when we check for excursions for our transatlantic cruise that the ports should all be listed for that cruise. I was given an opportunity to take your pop-up survey, and this is where I marked it low.

In addition, the offerings seems to be relatively sparse compared to what has been offered on our previous sailings. Since our window opens up in less than three weeks, would it be possible to do the following: a) add the missing ports to the transatlantic cruise list and b) add more port adventures?

Excellent email. I'm sorry so many are having problems finding excursions so close to the booking date. Disney should have had this sorted weeks ago!

I will fix that right now. Sorry they can't make the trip either. Aanna, can you check page one and let me know which stateroom number should be removed and if everything else is okay. Thanks.

Please add us to your list of cruisers  Soooooo excited to join you all! I was perusing the DCL website last Fri and saw openings for 4 and we booked!
It's me (Susie/MommyMouse), DH Eric, DS's twins 18

RedSox6, I was so sorry to read that you had to cancel. I hope that you will still be able to do your tour of Fenway Park. Even though we are huge Blue Jays fans and occasionally boo the Red Sox we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Boston and one of the highlights was definitely our tour of Fenway. The Cruising Canadians are almost all set. This will be our second Disney cruise, we did the Panama Canal west bound last year. For the first page, could you please add our names Mary, DH Rob, and DD C.J. We are in stateroom 8580. You already have our deck listed. Barcelona was my mother's favourite city in the world and we are excited to have the opportunity to explore it. We are arriving in Barcelona on September 12. We are staying at the Vueling Hotel in El Raval area. We haven't booked any tours yet but we did find this website that has itineraries for self directed tours of Barcelona that you can personalize to accommodate your own interests.

I was disappointed to hear that the horse tour in Cadiz was not going to be available as that was the one port adventure we were certain we were going to do. I am hoping that it might come back. Everyone traveling with us on this trip is super excited about going to St. John's. We are staying in New York for 5 days after the cruise as New York is my favourite city in the world. We have booked the Homewood Suites in the garment district. We might still opt for the Edison Hotel as we have stayed there in the past and loved how it is right in the heart of the action. DH wants to see Groundhog Day on Broadway and DD wants to see Aladdin. The Blue Jays are in town playing the Yankees so we will probably have to make a trek to Yankee Stadium.
I have a couple of questions for all you experienced Disney cruisers. Do you know when they will be posting the itinerary and dates for the 2018 westbound transatlantic? I noticed that the Magic is in Dover in mid September so I was hoping that it may sail for North America from the United Kingdom. When we sailed on the Wonder, they had an internet special on embarkation day. I didn't see it mentioned in the navigators for 2016 TAWB. Does any one know if this is a Wonder only special?
We are all super excited about our second Disney cruise and we know that the staff and passengers on the Magic will be as wonderful and friendly as those on the Wonder!

With regards to the 2018 WBTA I think there may well be going from Dover as it would make sense with the dates so probably going to be Northern route.

With regards to internet - if you are on about the free bit I think its on every ship so is still available just not advertised. Wasn't showing on the 2015 but was definitely there.

Thank you so much for the kind comment. I was very much looking forward to meeting everyone and was hoping for a group picture! Still hoping for a WBTA in 2018.

Curious, if they do leave out of Dover, what ports do you think that might include?

Hi and thanks for the lovely comment. I am hoping to keep the Fenway tour -- it was part of a group tour package with two other ports, but we have decided to rent cars in the other two ports. So if we cancel that package, I am hoping there is still room for us to get just the Fenway tour. When you took it, did you go with a private tour company or a cruise excursion?

The Red Sox are a roller coaster so far this year -- playing badly defensely but then we have much better pitchers. Was thrilled with them winning 2 out of 3 from the Cubs, but don't like the rivalry between them and the Orioles and wild pitches hitting players. Reminds me of the old days with the Yankees.

I will update the first page and add the tour group link also. Do you want to be a part of the postcard exchange? (I might find out you already are when I open the first page).

Will happily add you to page one. And welcome aboard! Two things, can you either provide me your stateroom number or a stateroom category; and do you want to be part of the postcard exchange?

Thank you! I was able to send all my updates on the Panama Canal cruise just using the free MB and it was a longer cruise. I really appreciate that they do their internet by MB and not by time! I'll keep my eye out for the 2018 WBTA.

The pricing is supposed to be released this month, but we shall see.

The Red Sox are doing so much better than the Blue Jays. Thank goodness April is over and they started May out well by beating the Yankees! We drove to Boston from Halifax and stayed in Woburn and took the train in everyday. I don't think you will have a problem booking the Fenway Park tour. We just booked tickets online a couple of days before. I think the tours run daily and are about an hour long. The times etc are listed on the website. You even get to go behind the Green Monster. We were disappointed that the Red Sox were on the road when we were there but now we have an excuse to go back to Boston maybe when the Jays are playing. We were sure that the Sox were going to sign Edwin Encarnacion to replace David Ortiz so we were somewhat surprised that he ended up in Cleveland.
