I’m not sure how often they change the sheets if you have maid service, but you can always phone housekeeping and request fresh sheets and change them yourself. That’s what we did on our two week trip when we opted out of housekeeping.

Thanks! I didn't realize that was an option.

Does anyone know.....does housekeeping clean the floors during a typical week long stay or only before your stay begins? If they do, is it daily? Trying to determine if I should decline housekeeping (or bring a swiffer). Dirty floors that turn your feet black would be a no-no for me.

You will probably receive many different responses to this as the floors seem to be cleaned (or not) very differently. Ours were fine when we arrived but many others experiences were different from ours.

Bottom line, if floor cleanliness is important to you I would recommend you bringing a swifter whether you decline mousekeeping or not.

I declined housekeeping and brought a swifter with both wet and dry pads for it. The floor appeared clean to the eye on checkin. We removed shoes in the doorway but still occasionally swept the floor. When I used the wet mop after a few days it was black! I swept every few days as needed and wet mopped it around every 4-5 days. I know that floor was cleaner on checkout than checkin. It took no time at all to do that. I did it when I was waiting on my daughter to get ready. Just the main walkway and bathroom floors. I took Clorox wipes to wipe counters and sink, etc every day or two. I changed sheets after day 5. We had one room 5 nights and another for 10. I spent very little time keeping our room clean and got $130 in e-gift cards. I didn’t have to worry about housekeeping messing with my stuff and only saw security checks twice with almost daily afternoon naps.

Great info! Thanks!

If I have to pack a swiffer and clean my own floors I'm not on vacation. If I arrive and the floors aren't acceptable I would expect mousekeeping to clean them.

Would you find dirty floors acceptable at any hotel? If it wasnt remedied I would not return. Why find it acceptable at Disney?

Foregoing mousekeeping may be a little different but you should arrive to a clean room!

Just stating my opinion.:)

If you’re going to quote me, please quote my entire post rather than just portions. Please do not infer I accept living in dirty hotel rooms. This was my full response...

I did not say I would accept a dirty floor, I said mine was clean when I arrived.

The OP was at Disney for 15 nights and chose to forego mousekeeping. I totally agree with her in that if I was going for 15 nights and my choice was not to have mousekeeping clean the room then I would bring something that would clean the floors as I felt they needed them.

We were there for 8 nights in January and while the floors WERE clean when we arrived, even with just 2 of us in the room and removing our shoes once we entered the room, the floors got dirty.

I cleaned my floors myself because I chose not to have mousekeeping clean my room.

I also realized that I was in FL and there can be fine dust particles at certain times of the year. I've heard it's just FL which is different from the climate I'm used to.

Whoa. I didn't mean any harm and just shortened it to save space. Really wasnt trying to infer that you accept dirty rooms. Really just trying to make a point that no one should accept dirty floors, they should remedy the situation. I also stated that if you decline mousekeeping it may be a different story but you should at least arrive to a clean room.

Didn't mean to offend you.

Need Advice
I have two packages reserved. The first is from September 21-26 and the second is from October 11-16.
The September package includes free dining and park hoppers.
The October package is paid dining and base tickets.
The difference in price is around $100.00
I have to make a choice. What would you choose the September package or the October package?
Crowd wise which is the best package?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally I would keep the Sep pkg as Sep crowds are normally the lowest you’ll see all year. Just looked at a Touring Plabs and they estimate your Sep dates to be lower crowds than the Oct.

Are both packages at the same resort? Assuming they are September would be my choice definitely lower crowds.
