Sure .... or they reenact the pottery scene from Ghost

I just laughed out loud!!!!! 😂 YES!!!!!!!!! Omg that would be perfect. And you know what, I’d go see it!!!!! And then probably cry like a baby all over again. That was a good one!!!!!!

ok, so parts I cried/got emotional at

- when Chewie got emotional/mourned Leia's passing

- When the Tantiv IV took of and you hear "and Leia" mentioned

- when Chewie finally got his medal🏅

Probably missing some

The big one for me:

"Rey . . . Skywalker."

I straight-up lost it. I'd been wondering a while earlier about the title of the movie, then forgot. I honestly was not expecting the final scene at all and thought the previous scene was the end. But the return to Tatooine, where everything began for both Luke and Anakin, was perfect. Luke and Leia, the twin suns, the great John Williams's Force theme mixed with Rey's theme -- stunning. And to me, Rey's taking of this name and everything it represents symbolizes the really lovely idea that family is a matter of choice rather than genetics.

I loved this final moment. It filled my heart.

I don’t get the argument that a consistent story doesn’t matter just because it’s fictional. There were different writers for different parts of the story, who don’t seem to care much about where it was going before they took the baton. But hey it’s Disney so how can it be anything less than perfect lol.
It’s not inconsistent
It’s fiction in a fictional world
They can do anything they want with fiction when none of it is real
Disney being involved has nothing at all to do with that
In over the Disney did it so it had to suck argument myself

Ok, so getting back to the actual movie ....

Apologies if already covered in the spoiler tags and I missed it, but what did people think of Hux being the spy? I thought they played it well with him not necessarily caring / having a change of heart just that he wanted Kylo to lose. Also glad it sort of resolved itself early/quickly and wasn't like in the finale what won the day for the Resistance or anything

Definitely something I didn't even consider coming into the movie so it was a nice little surprise

My 3 yo tells inconsistent fictional stories. They aren't nearly as interesting as the consistent fictional stories told by the professionals.

So just watched it today for the first time and went in pretty much spoiler free. I've been on a social media blackout the last few days. I might buck the trend of this thread and say I didn't love it. I'm glad many did enjoy it. I didn't hate it, but I left the theater with mixed emotions. The film had a tall mountain to climb and I think in some spots it worked and other spots not so much. I really really wish they would have made this film into 2 separate movies. Trying to retcon a lot of TLJ, introduce new characters, flesh out existing characters, etc.....it was just a lot to do in one film. At the very least this movie needed to be 3 hours long like End Game was.

Box office down and didn’t like it but didn’t dislike it so call it neutral.

i am hoping Cats will be better. :)

it wasn’t Wonder Women nor Captain Marvel level but okay.

I don't know about that but I do think it could've been longer and/or it could've been two movies. This film did have a fast pace to it.
Yep. There were several scenes/plot points that I was really interested in or wanted to explore that got jumped over or only touched on briefly.

After seeing it twice and having some time think on it. I think I would put this last of the new trilogy. Definitely like the first two better. I didn’t hate it was good not great.

Was an eh movie for me. And I was a teen seeing SW for the first time 40 years ago, and a fan. And even my SW loving adult son was not very happy with the movie either. And parts of it dragged enough that many were yawning. And for a mid day viewing, did not seem so crowded for me. Glad we did not go to the first showings.

I don't get the argument that there are inconsistencies in the story when it's ALL.MADE.UP! The worlds, the species (aside from human) all of it. The writers can take it anywhere they want to and it is comes out where they want to go, no? Disney didn't "do" anything to Star Wars.

Because then there's no meaning to it. Good stories are the explanations of ideals and philosophies, usually self contained to the one book or movie. WORLD building, where such things expand into multiple stories build on those ideologies and central themes. If the writers divorce themselves from the foundational stories then the universe means whatever the writer wants at that point in time, screw the past and the future and that's exactly what Rian Johnson did.
Sure - any author can write a book that says something silly like candy canes give all jedi their force powers and Disney would probably like that from a marketing reason - but it destroys any meaning to the previous story foundation and, further, damages the ability for future story tellers to write meaningful stories based on those flimsy archetypes. You just have future storyline where Yoda appears in a santa outfit explaining "Hmm Rey... brought you candy canes I have... the force strong with you it will be now!"

Or if you want a better explanation - how many people loved that an entire season of Dallas, that was badly written, was ret-conned as a dream? I mean, it's all made up right?

If the writers don't care enough about what they're writing and creating... why should you?

So went with my 8yo grandson and totally enjoyed the movie, we are already planning to see it again. One of my problems as a movie goer is I tend to see plot issues and shake my head. So what some say as a complaint, was a blessing for me. There was so much going on and it was so fast paced that I did not have time to be over analytical. It was only after the movie was over and I thought about it that I chuckled to myself. I just loved the homage to prior movies. So much to say, but staying away from spoiler comments.

SO MANY emotional moments!
The biggest ones for me were...
Han's appearance speaking to Ben. I'm SO glad I avoided spoilers before I saw the film. I would have been super ticked off if I found out about that ahead of time! Thankfully, it was an uncredited cameo to prevent Harrison Ford's name from showing up in the cast list on IMDB, etc.
Leia's death. We all suspected it was coming, but that didn't make it any less painful.
Chewie's reaction to Leia's death.
