My question is, are you saying you saved your chairs and then went on the 5K? If that is what I'm understanding then i would say you were in the wrong in this situation. After leaving the chair and going to the meet up spot for the 5K, getting started, completing the 5K and going back to your chair would probably be an hour. Maybe a few minutes either side of that number but a very long time to consider placing claim to a chair. I think that is rude and not the other way around. I know you feel differently but that's what is saving a chair and by DCL rules you can not do that. Maybe either get your chairs and stay there or do the 5K and then get chairs. They may not be exactly where you want them but that is a choice you need to make. Do one or the other. You can't do two things at once.2 - We got our chairs on CC before the 5k. Came back and granted all the chairs were VERY close together on the beach. When we got back, there was a couple next to us with a kid. There was barely 5 inches between our chairs (with empty chairs around mind you). OKay, no worries. We go Get in the water for a bit and come back and their family had joined them. Well, the family had taken the chairs on the other side of us and tried to take our chairs even with our stuff sitting in them! (Yes, they were sitting in them, with our stuff still in the chair) So we asked for our chairs. We sat there a bit and the grandmother (now they are a family of about 4 adults with a set of grandparents), sets her chair RIGHT in front of my sons chair (1 of our 3 lined up in a row) and there was no room for his legs to go straight out. So the family is then yelling across us to talk instead of just moving their chairs closer to talk. I mean.......it’s a BIG beach area...... 2 of the adults were constantly coughing (sounded like a smokers cough) right on us. Not only this but the grandmother kept glaring at us as though we came and invaded their personal space and crashed their paid party. Needless to say, we moved Down the beach.
Was there actually room in the elevators for a wheelchair and companion? The doors close at a certain time from opening, I don't think anyone could make them close faster.Every time an elevator door opened, the occupants immediately told the couple with the wheelchair they didn't have room, then immediately closed the door.
Nope, not what I said. Read it again. We did put stuff down to go to do 5k. Came back, no one around. Grabbed clothes and went and changed. Came back from changing clothes and a couple was right next to us (maybe 5 inches) separating us actually when I sat in my chair. To his left was his spouse and they had a daughter. Beside them were empty chairs. on the other side of us were empty chairs, behind us were empty chairs. While I thought it odd, I also said....okay, whatever. We sat a while (my DH and I as my son ran off as he made a friend) and listened to them chatting as they were right in my ear. She’s coughing all over the place. DH and I decided to go into the water to cool off and we weren’t there long and come back and we were then surrounded by the rest of their family (we were now in the middle). So nope, we did nothing wrong. We did the right thing by moving to another area of the beach. And we had NO problems there. And yes, I’m aware of how long it takes to do the 5K since I did it. Let me say this. If I saw someone’s stuff on a chair at CC (or anywhere honestly), I would In NO way move Their stuff. That beach is large enough that I can find an empty chair WITHOUT the need to move someone’s stuff nor would I ever. So honestly, RUDE would be if I felt entitled to an “up front” chair. BUT we aren’t those people. If we needed to walk down a bit for a chair, Fine. if we needed to be behind people for a chair. Fine. There are PLENTY of chairs at CC that I’d never sit in a chair with someone’s stuff in it NOR would I move anyone’s stuff. Just saying......so if me putting my items in a chair at CC where there are HUNDREDS of chairs and would expect no one would touch my stuff is rude?? Then I guess I have “rude” expectations. Is this the same as on the boat? NO, I”m not one of those who would put things in a chair, leave for 3 hours for a movie and expect my stuff to be there. We’re more considerate than that thanks. Also considerate enough that I don’t take space on an elevator to go up or down one or 2 flights of stairs when others may need it more than I. Again, just saying. My question is, are you saying you saved your chairs and then went on the 5K? If that is what I'm understanding then i would say you were in the wrong in this situation. ETA-I agree with everything else you said.
I'm not sure if there was enough room, but nobody was making an attempt to squeeze in to make room for this couple. In any case, I had a great time on the cruise, and I really hope this couple did, too.Was there actually room in the elevators for a wheelchair and companion? Okay, so I read it again. Your story has changed. First it was ' We got our chairs on CC before the 5k. Came back and granted all the chairs were VERY close together on the beach. I’m not getting into a tit for tat with you. I merely provided MORE detail in the second one. So much for attempting a readers digest condensed version. It‘s folks like you who make me not want to post on here. I’m done already. Thanks to those of you who seem to understand my point. Peace out.Okay, so I read it again. Your story has changed. Which happened? Did you come back from the 5K and people were there or did you change and when you got back people were there?
I can only go by what you said in the first version as that is what I read. All in all you still saved chairs and used an excuse to say it was okay. Your saying because there are so many chairs on CC that it is okay to reserve them for your use. That is the same entitlement as anyone on the ship who saves a seat, there is no difference. There could be a thousand chairs but you still saved one which someone else could not use.
I don't know you and have to assume you are a very nice person, I have no reason to think other wise but I still see a bit of the pot calling the kettle black here. You don't see it and some others may not see it but black it is. Everyone has a reason why they think they should be able to go ahead and do what they want but if we are going to call out one group we have to call out all. JMO.
It's not just shorter cruises. We've had problems with kids running up and down the halls and playing on the elevators on longer cruises.
I've got to ask, I'm really curious as to what you mean by "Don't stack your plates at the table." Everything else you mentioned I heard myself saying to my kids, but that one threw me off and I wasn't sure what you meant by it!People in general have no manners. It is always jarring to me when I go on vacation because I really see it. So depressing. It makes me harder on my kids and how they act. I feel like I am doing my small part to make the world a better place. Very, very small part. Lol.
Me to the kids all day long: Feet are for floors not furniture (this is my biggest complaint lately. I see grown adults doing this everywhere). Let people off the elevator first. Stay to the right when passing people. Please and thank you. Wait your turn. No pushing. Give people personal space. Hold the door open for those behind you. Stand and let young children and older people sit on the bus/monorail/boat. Don’t lick your fingers (haven’t had to say this one in years thank goodness). Don’t stack your plates at the table. Go with the flow. Turn devices to mute or use earphones. Don’t interrupt. Keep negative opinions to yourself or discuss them with others in private. Clean up your mess. I could go on... but It is very disappointing to me that most adults do not abide by these maxims! Disney should publish a list of manners. Unfortunately the issues you had were even more basic human respect issues. So sad.

Now I'm even more confused because I have no idea what that means!Maybe they were imitating Red Panda.
