The ABC's of a BSN Celebration! Trip Wrap up; Final Thoughts (7/11)

I had to edit it down so hopefully it won't be sideways. I used my phonView attachment 586899

The boys weren't as happy and the little guys are always goofy.

I am very fortunate that my kids all live about 5 minutes away and my grandson is only about 15 minutes away.
This is such a great photo!! Thanks for sharing! And yes, the guys are ALWAYS less enthused about family photos!

Lo and behold, one was actually available, so we snatched it up as a perfect end-of-the-trip sit down meal.
You could do a lot worse for a trip-ending restaurant.
I have yet to try the famed Short Ribs that @ChunkMonkey raves about.
This has been on my radar for a while as well. As soon as you mentioned Morimoto, I thought of Su-Lynn's short ribs.
we’d split up as Mik and MEK were now besties and I at times like to be a loner.
Huh! Well... looks like it worked out for everyone.
I found them on the Homecomin’ Porch drinking Moonshine Punches from MEK’s refillables listening to some live music and just enjoying the pleasant evening.
Very nice. :)
Apparently, those 2 needed a pre-pre-dinner drink.
 When on vacation...
I had just finished my Frozen Chai latte with a couple of shots of Baileys which was the biggest waste of money ever. Seriously, I think it won the prize for "Most Disappointing Disney Purchase Ever". Live and learn.
What was wrong with it? Just not very tasty?
we headed for Jock’s where we were promptly told it’d be a 30-minute wait for a table. Fantastic.
I can't tell if you're angry or happy with that time.
To pass the time we got to enjoy the antics of a local celeb “Eddy Maserati”. I had no idea he was thing, passing him off as “quirky” at best
Never heard of him. :confused3
Had I known that my green Reggie’s Revenge (the one I literally RAN back to get a couple trips back, remember that particular debacle?!) was cracked I would have. I didn't discover that until a few weeks after we go back.
Oh, that's too bad. Yes, I remember the run back for it.
IMG_6691-L.jpg
Recognize that of course, but not the rest of the photos.
(A hit tip to R2-D2)
Ah!!
Is this how a Greyhound, or any other mixed drink should ever be served? A mix-it yourself monstrosity?!! I mean, WTH? Here’s some booze and juice served separately in glasses and some ice in a paper cup?! Okay……
What the heck is that? Are they trying to tell you to just stay home and do it yourself???????
We were seated immediately at a pretty crappy table,
Too bad.
it’s no secret I’m obsessed with Disney bathrooms.
:rolleyes1

No. No it's not.
Well, this one just made me burst out laughing in my stall. Like legit giggling that probably made the other users wonder what kind of whack-job was in there with them
I mean… who the hell puts poster-sized photos of boyband members in an upscale restaurant that has mosaic art, crystal chandeliers, and silk wall hangings in other places?
Uh... that's... weird.
In fact, I was still laughing so hard when I came back to the table, that I MADE MEK go in there and take some photos for me
:lmao:
so got a Lychee Martini: Absolut Elyx and Soho Lychee Liqueur-$14.00 which was phenomenal.
mmm... that sounds really good!
Meantime, the table next to us provided some people watching opportunities. It was a group of young folks, early 20's?- some were WAY too intoxicated to be out and extremely flamboyantly dressed, and those that weren’t were obviously wishing beyond all hope that they hadn’t ventured out with this particular party.
Oh dear.
Interesting presentation on that!

You could do a lot worse for a trip-ending restaurant.

Yes, could been Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex. Or worse Planet Hollywood.
This has been on my radar for a while as well. As soon as you mentioned Morimoto, I thought of Su-Lynn's short ribs.

I hope you can get there sometime too then!
Huh! Well... looks like it worked out for everyone.

I'd say so!
What was wrong with it? Just not very tasty?
I wrote about that a bit ago. Spent $20 on it and I am pretty sure they never put one drop of anything in it. No buzz, not really even any taste other than the usual Frozen Chai Latte. Which normally I love at $5.69. Will never do that again.

I can't tell if you're angry or happy with that time.

I wasn't thrilled. If they'd served stuff outside... that'd have made the wait better.

Never heard of him. :confused3

Oh, that's too bad. Yes, I remember the run back for it.

I can get another so far. They are still sold according to the menu.

Recognize that of course, but not the rest of the photos.

I will go back and caption.
What the heck is that? Are they trying to tell you to just stay home and do it yourself???????

Right?!! Holy cow... I was just so stymied. I pay $12 for a cocktail and get... this?!
Uh... that's... weird.

I sure think so. Maybe I"m missing something. :confused3
Interesting presentation on that!
Yes, unique to be sure!

The food at Morimoto looks amazing! The potty posters just cracked me up.

It's really decent food. Much better than anything we have here in Salem for sure, but not the best I've ever had either. But I will say, it has the most unique bathrooms of any Asian place I've ever been.

Finally, our party of 4 was called and we headed in. I was sad, of course to not get the diving bell table, but will remember to request it next time I go. I’m usually pretty good about making sure I tell the host staff that we are willing to wait for a better table at check-in but forgot this time around. Instead, we got a corner table inside which wasn’t so bad.
We like to sit outside so we can stare at the water. We don't get that view around here. But since it was probably cold outside, I'm sure it was better to be inside.
I mean… who the hell puts poster-sized photos of boyband members in an upscale restaurant that has mosaic art, crystal chandeliers, and silk wall hangings in other places?
It makes me wonder if this is a popular bathroom theme in Japan.

Yes, could been Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex. Or worse Planet Hollywood.
Pass. On all of those.
I hope you can get there sometime too then!
Me too! Baby steps…
I wrote about that a bit ago. Spent $20 on it and I am pretty sure they never put one drop of anything in it. No buzz, not really even any taste other than the usual Frozen Chai Latte. Which normally I love at $5.69. Will never do that again.
Ohhh, right.
I can get another so far. They are still sold according to the menu.
So far. Better hurry! :)
Right?!! Holy cow... I was just so stymied. I pay $12 for a cocktail and get... this?!
Just… sad.

We like to sit outside so we can stare at the water. We don't get that view around here. But since it was probably cold outside, I'm sure it was better to be inside.

Normally I'd opt for an outside seat too and have on several occasions, but yes, it was chilly, not freezing, but uncomfortable so inside was just fine. I too love the views of DTD, the water, the breeze... Love that!

It makes me wonder if this is a popular bathroom theme in Japan.

I just don't know.... Seemed, while not entirely out of place, just weird in an upscale restaurant.

Z is for: Zanzibar and Beyond

Here’s a bit of mood music to get your mindset in the proper place for some exploring.

‘Z’ brings us to the end of the alphabet and the end of this Trip Report, save one last chapter for some last thoughts. The good news is that there is already a brand new Trip Report found HERE for you should you need a bit more misery in your life. All joking aside, it’s been so wonderful to have each one of you here; I’ve gotten to know a few more of you a bit better, some to the point of getting to see you in the parks for some Disney fun! But now it’s time to retire this tale of a BSN Celebration Trip. I’ve enjoyed getting to relive all of its special moments and fun and sharing them with you along the way!

The last few photos I have are from my favorite “Land” at WDW’s Magic Kingdom- Adventureland. Frontierland is a close 2nd, and I will almost invariably “go left” when I enter the park. Most of my go-to rides are over thatta way, as well as most of my favorite snicky-snacks. Let’s be honest, Tomorrowland is completely devoid of anything remotely worth consuming (yes, yes, I know some of y’all rave about the Cheshire Tail, but honestly, I can get a choco croissant at $ixbucks for less. And that’s sayin’ something!) and the only thing I really enjoy from Fantasyland in terms of foods are the Cinnamon Roll and my beloved PP Float. Go left however, and you can get Dole Whips, CHH (I really hope that opens back up soon!), and Skippers Canteen. You can also get the better coaster, POTC, and JC.

Let’s take a stroll among the scenes of adventure whose inspiration comes from the romanticized literature of the likes of authors Stevenson, Wyss, and Shah, and the mid-1900th century explorers such as Livingstone and Stanley. From swashbuckling pirates with secret hordes of treasure to niles and niles of exotic jungle rivers, let’s go!

Again, less commentary and more photos...

Excuse me while I admire the fact that this looks lit in the daytime. Love how this one turned out.

Been far too long since I've been in the Tiki Room. Super need to fix this.

Sam's been busy.

Is it just me, or does this remind you of the Bayou cabin at the DLR PoTC?!

Sorry, blurriness prevailed. Should have used sport mode.

This looks suspiciously like an AK Safari with plastic animals to 1,000 scale model. Same animals.

The Mother-in-Law

OH, snap! It's Smiley and Ginger.

God, I'm going to miss this!!!!

AND THIS!!!! Just... whyyyyy?!

Trunks and all!

"Plaza of the Caribbean Sun"

I do wonder what flag this is.

Or these for that matter.

"The Tranquil Fountain"

Here's lookin' at you, Kid!

Seriously!! How on Earth have I missed this for like 40 years?!

Best to leave you with a bit of eye candy, no? Sorry, gents, Red was fetching the rum.

I can’t think of anything I’ve gotten that was not good, and given the right trip circumstances, I’d go there again. I have yet to try the famed Short Ribs that @ChunkMonkey raves about.
I am putting Morimoto's on the list for December!
I found them on the Homecomin’ Porch drinking Moonshine Punches from MEK’s refillables listening to some live music and just enjoying the pleasant evening. By now, at the end of our trip, of course, the temps had warmed up and it was nearly perfect without a parka.
Moonshine Punch on the patio sounds blissful!
I put our name in nonetheless and luckily we found some cushy sofas to wait on while we listened to some live music on the stage that’s between Jock’s and the Boathouse. To pass the time we got to enjoy the antics of a local celeb “Eddy Maserati”. I had no idea he was thing, passing him off as “quirky” at best, so no photo. I aspire to be like him putting all judgement aside and embracing the ‘tude of living in the moment enjoying the sights and sounds to the fullest.
I had to go look him up. Pure joy!
Instead, we got a corner table inside which wasn’t so bad. Honestly, I had made sure to put this into the itinerary because of the theming and BGM that I love so much.
I need to go there this summer!
While we waited, Kari and I, the backstory/theming geeks, googled the Easter Eggs found there that help tell the Jock Lindsay/Indiana Jones story. There are many. The site we used to do a little treasure hunt was this one:
Right up my alley....I love delving into all the details!
This, to me, is just… odd. In fact, I was still laughing so hard when I came back to the table, that I MADE MEK go in there and take some photos for me cuz I didn’t want to when someone else was in there. She too thought it was bizarre. So, Morimoto Bathroom, I dub thee, Bizarre Boy Band Bathroom- you win in some fun categories.
So strange!

Same, my friend, same!
Been far too long since I've been in the Tiki Room. Super need to fix this.
Tiki room is a must do for me....preferably with a pineapple upside down cake to enjoy!

If you like Bimbap Bowls, theirs is quite good, and it used to be mixed at the table. Not sure if they still do this. The Cobb Salad at HBD is so maybe tableside services are going to return. ??

Moonshine Punch on the patio sounds blissful!

The chairs there are soooooooooo comfy!!

I had to go look him up. Pure joy!

I know!! Rumor has is that this guy does in fact own not one, but a couple (or more?) Maseratis. I've been known to break out in dance around Disney, but not to that level!

I need to go there this summer!

It's a great hangout!!

Right up my alley....I love delving into all the details!

And there are many!

So strange!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Mik thought I was silly for thinking it was crazy but maybe it appeals to that age-set?
Tiki room is a must do for me....preferably with a pineapple upside down cake to enjoy!
I do it about every 3 or so trips, and every time I come home without having done it, I am sorry I missed it.

 Already there! And rather enjoying my "misery" very much!
But now it’s time to retire this tale of a BSN Celebration Trip. I’ve enjoyed getting to relive all of its special moments and fun and sharing them with you along the way!
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us all! :)
my favorite “Land” at WDW’s Magic Kingdom- Adventureland. Frontierland is a close 2nd, and I will almost invariably “go left” when I enter the park.
I really had to think on this. What's my favourite land?
And... I just might have to agree with you. There's a certain vibe there, isn't there? May not have the best rides (Hello Liberty Square and Frontierland), but... just seems a bit more intimate? Not sure if that's the right word, though. Maybe immersive?
Let’s be honest, Tomorrowland is completely devoid of anything remotely worth consuming
Excuse me, but... What about Aunty Gravity's? Strawberry smoothie? Chocolate milkshake? Floats?

Okay. I can get those anywhere. I withdraw my comment.

Really, though... Tomorrowland really is pretty devoid of good snacks, isn't it?
You can also get the better coaster,
I wonder if that will change once Tron is up and running??
Like the framing on this one. :)
Is it just me, or does this remind you of the Bayou cabin at the DLR PoTC?!
Yes!
The Mother-in-Law
::yes::

God, I'm going to miss this!!!!
At least there are still people being poked, albeit different ones.

I do wonder what flag this is.

I love the nooks and crannies of Morocco. I'm not looking forward to seeing the changes on my next visit. Your photos are once again outstanding. I'm not sure what my favorite country is. On my very first visit it was Mexico. I was in high school and thought it was the coolest area. So many pretty colors everywhere.

Sorry Jock Lindsay's was a disappointment. I still hoping to try it someday and Morimoto. I know Danielle has been to Morimoto. I need to ask her if she visited the bathroom. She was a big KPop fan in High School but that has cooled now.

I love Adventureland too but I don't know if it's my favorite. You do have some very valid points. I'm hoping CHH is open soon. Danielle did say she saw where hey are brining in some CPs to work there but I don't know when.

Thanks for sharing another report.

REALLY?!! I think it's actually a very pretty spot. Not quite like Pandora, but very oasis like in the rockiness of Batuu elsewhere.

Well, I got another new computer and now it's the Dr. Strange area from Avengers Campus.

Yes, they are now. On all rides.

So is Disneyland. They just ripped off the band aid on June 15th.

Yes, it sure is. And capacity is up too.

Ours is open now too, but I don't know about capacity.

Seriously? Come on! That's half the experience. I hope they change it as I really has not been backed up by data to show it's an issue.

I'm guessing that they put is back on June 15th, plus I hope that they put the Rey Room back in the ride. They were skipping that too, so that the whole experience was under 15 minutes.

Well, of course!!! I'll even buy you a drink at the Cantina after we conquer the Order.

Sounds like a deal, and I won't even order a mug drink!

We checked in and, to our delight and surprise, the friendly CM told us that we’d been upgraded to a Family Suite! Beast! Best part? It was exactly the building/location/section etc… I had hoped for. Cars, Building 3.

That's awesome!

we skeddadled to our room and instantly fell in love with the size and décor of the suite, and the fact that we had 3 beds.

So I'm guessing there was the bed you showed, one in the couch and one from the kitchen table?

I must say, if one must do laundry on vacation, and let’s face it, there are times it can’t be helped <Sanaa bread service on shirt fronts happen>, the laundry at the Cozy Cone pool is a very quiet, convenient place to do the most expensive load of laundry on the planet.

I actually prefer the one in my DVC room, but then I'm spoiled.

Protip: Take a little bit of laundry detergent powder in a doubled baggie. It’ll save you a couple bucks. It’s got a quiet bathroom too. #mostimportantthings

I actually just bring Tide Pods and some bounce sheets.....

I read your Wine Bar George update and after a massage, I'm just too tired to multi-quote. I've never been so taken with the menu as to consider it. I'm glad you all had a good time, and redeemed yourselves. I would have ended up ordering dinner at the Boathouse and saying sayonara to Wine Bar George.
