"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

This is a late reply, but it's an amusing/frustrating story. I live in the Buffalo area (very close to the border for those who don't know). When the road border was closed earlier in the pandemic, there was a booming business in people taking helicopter rides ~10 miles across the border and...

Does shopDisney ship to PO Boxes?

I'm a driver for one of the big delivery companies (not USPS), and this is how it works at the post office on my route.

    Recent Refurbishments?

I checked in on the progress recently to see if there was maybe a chance of a soft opening by the fall so I could walk over to Wilderness Lodge... it won't open until 2022. o_O

Fort Wilderness to Rise of the Resistance Boarding group

Another tip that seems to be generally accepted is to use your cell phone service instead of Disney's WiFi, as long as you get a decent signal. There will be a giant horde hopping on that WiFi right at park opening.

Getting back from MK After Hours

One way or another, they won’t strand you. I was one of the last out of the park for a 3 AM close one time, and eventually you just get your own private bus. :rotfl2:This was staying at Pop, though.

Fort Wilderness to Rise of the Resistance Boarding group

You just have to be in the park at opening. Building in some cushion to get there in time is probably not a bad idea, but being there 45 minutes before opening isn’t any better than being there 15 minutes before.

    Resort Hopping from the Fort

Different chunks that can be combined in different ways: - take advantage of the new pedestrian bridge being built right now between MK and GF. You’ll be able to walk all the way around Seven Seas Lagoon, except for between Contemporary and Poly. - Wilderness Lodge is sort of a sister resort to...

    Is it always this noisy?

There are some peculiar acoustics in that area. When we were in the northern end of the 2000 loop, you could hear the Electrical Water Pageant like it was basically happening right outside our tent. Looking at maps, I still have no idea how it happened, but we heard it clear as day every night...

It’s been reported that they are non-upgradable tickets.

    October Trip Reports w/activity calendar

What’s the verdict on the new gravel? Is it still “soft” enough to walk around barefoot? Does it collect inside like the coquina did?

What to Pack for FW Campsite!? Please help - TIA!

I compiled this thread a couple of years ago. It’s a “kitchen sink” list with nearly all suggestions and past lists I found mashed together, so not everything will apply to you; reading through will hopefully give you some ideas, though. One thing not to forget is a hard-sided container for your...

    Tenting at the FORT

Honestly, in December, your bigger concern is probably staying warm at night rather than keeping cool during the day. 55-60 outside at night felt pretty cool to me, and I’m from up north. Not that either is a big problem, but it’s probably going to feel cooler than you expect at night. The days...

I Think The 500-Day Booking Rule (as we knew it) Has Changed

As of this moment, it’s 11/1-11/21. All other things being equal, I would be there with you guys in a heartbeat... and it may still work out that way. Tent camping with no AC, though, my first instinct was to shift to November instead of earlier in October. We are hoping to be bringing two or...

I Think The 500-Day Booking Rule (as we knew it) Has Changed

This might be what happened to me for Halloween 2020. I looked online at 7:02 500 and 499 days out, and... no sites at all. Now, we’re arriving 11/1.

Total Disney Newbie. Share your wisdom!!!

I’m from Buffalo, so I feel like we’re kindred spirits with the cold. I wouldn’t automatically bring heaters and electric blankets, but you should at least prepare to. The thing that surprised me on my trip in November 2017 was that, even though the actual temperature didn’t go much below 60F at...

    Main Street Inspired Kitchen

I know this is a bit of a zombie thread, but I'm thinking of similar things for my house, so I figured I'd drop some ideas here. These salt and pepper shakers really nail the look of MSUSA I think: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PS9K1C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-LqgDbH6STF7E and if you check out all...

    First Camping Trip EVER... Help?!

Agree with those who say that setup/tear down time will be a big concern on such a short trip. I’d also recommend an instant cabin tent... more like a little room than the three-foot tall dome most people think of when it comes to tents. And “person size” is the amount of people you can pack in...

Do you plan your gas fill ups?

Fortunately, we drive a regular-size gas vehicle with nothing in tow, so we don't have to worry about room at the station or finding diesel. The only hitch is that we normally drive through the night. I do worry about finding that 3am fill-up, but it really hasn't been an issue so far...

    2020 Rates

Mousesavers shows consistent rates for 2019 for busy times like Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/NY. Depending on when your trip is exactly, though, that could change. The dates Disney quoted you are based on when Easter is this year...
