Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

Yes I saw that you had some craziness going on i hope M is doing good. We are just trying to keep up with all the eBays!
Yeah I didn't think she was going to make it a few times between May and September. She's holding her own now, hoping it stays that way for a while.

Missing my DisFriends as well.

Life is some strange normal here. Our Covid numbers are very low in comparison to the US. But that has come at the price of strict lockdown, masks and who-knows-what-has-happened-to the economy.

We have a pattern of lockdown-open-covid outbreak-lockdown etc here.
Work from home has become the norm.
Everyone has become a flat 2-D facsimile of their 3D self.
3D selves have all gained 5 - 10 kg from the inactivity.
International travel is a thing of the past right now. The Australian Government aren't letting anyone out for recreational reasons.

I wake up, eat breakfast and then meander into the living room (which is now my work space). All this happens within an hour. I have to admit that I do not miss the commute one bit.
On the flip side. I'm now back at work full time and working from home means I'm working long hours. So I have very little spare time. But that was last year. I'm hoping to rein in the overtime work hours and have some balance towards fun things like the Dis.

There is talk of heading back to the office for February. We will see how that goes.

Hope everyone is staying safe. I will also hold the thought of a big DisMeet someday!

Hello fogies. Hope you are all well.

Here we are in the middle of January and life continues. Melbourne is starting to open up again. Corporate offices are now allowed to have 50% of their workforce back in them.
Covid is being tracked here. Our numbers are low compared to the rest of the world. We did have over 2 months of 0 community transmission and 0 deaths before Christmas. It was broken by an outbreak in Sydney that travelled down to Melbourne. Thankfully the authorities managed to get the spread under control. We now have 10 days of what we call double donut days (0 community spread, 0 deaths).

And in the midst of all of this, the authorities are letting the tennis players into the country and into Melbourne. Of course......the second planeload is covid infected. :crazy2:
It is a strange world we navigate through now.

So. Next week. I will head to the office next week for one day. Here's hoping!

Definitely a crazy world these days. Hope your day at the office goes well PIO.

Definitely a crazy world these days. Hope your day at the office goes well PIO.

The day in the office went well. It was strange. I felt so much less productive there than at home. It was all the travel and socialisation.

Sadly, I felt sick that night. I decided to go get a covid test the next day. Results came back within 18 hours of taking the test (negative, thankfully) so that was peace of mind for me and my co workers.

Hi everyone! I miss seeing family and friends. We have had our first vaccine and expect to be contacted about the second injection. So, good things are happening, slowly.

Stay safe!

How is school going? More importantly....I hope you are staying safe!
...one of my coteachers left early today - she got a phone call from her daughter saying that her 5-y-o granddaughter tested positive for Covid...and my friend was at their house on Saturday...she WAS wearing a mask, but I'm a bit concerned, since we share a room and the computer.

How are you feeling?

Oh no!

Are you okay? Is your co teacher and her family okay?

How have you and your family been PIO? I think 2021 is going to be more of the same too. These aren't the fun years for dealing with timeshares, I've canceled so many trip I've lost count.

So sorry about the timeshare and the cancelled trips. :(

Yes. 2021 looks like more of the same.

We are doing well. So far, the Australian and State governments are cracking down on anything Covid. We have managed to keep covid under control here and life is starting to approach that covid normal nirvana.
Both hubby and I are back in full time employment. Work from Home was the norm for last year. I am starting to head back into the office at least twice a week. We will have the flexibility to work at home for up to 3 days a week. I miss my 3 day working arrangement but I can't deny that being employed in Covid times is a blessing.
The boy is starting 3rd year at uni this year. He grows up so quick!.

We are unlikely to head overseas this year or next; so hubby and I are looking at a raft of home improvements for these next two years. We need to fix up a ton of things in the house and upgrade kitchen/bathrooms. That's where our travel fund will be heading to. :(
Still, if I get everything on my list ticked off, that will mean that the house will be solid for the next 10 - 15 years.
