Universal will reopen June 5th!

I'll say it now and we'll see if I'm right (or wrong) in a few months. The mask requirement will go to the wayside by the end of August/early Sept. The science of mask usage just does not support the effectiveness for prevention/transmission for non-medical grade masks in regards to Covid virus. Plus the adverse effects can be even worse (C02, cross-contaimination, residual bacteriaa build up, etc.). I and DW will still wear a mask as requested, but eventually masks as used today will stop being mandated. Just look at WalMart and Lowes as to how effective compliance is, and yet we're not having mass break-outs of Covid. Not looking for a flame war, but simply recognizing that the 'mask' requirement is a moving entity which will adapt in time. Full disclosure - we have trips to WDW planned fo Sept, Oct and Dec: mask or not!

If the employees in the parks did not wear a mask, or sanitize the rides or not have a system to continually clean the parks, that would be the deal breaker for me.

I’m not a fan of masks but have no problem wearing them since it’s required for UO.
If Disney would go that same route, I would accept it also.

My next trip is not until the fall and assume some of the new rules may be different when I go.

Safe travels all, many people will be happy to get back in The parks.
I am quite curious, and hope people report back...what it’s truly like wearing a mask, all day, outside in the heat, while ur on vacation.
I’ll say... it’s not been comfortable nor easy imho here in the south for even short periods of time. Definitely not something I’d want to do on my vacation. Choices.. we re waiting till ‘21.
But.. we do what we must. Enjoy all!

With the amount of people that will be in the parks for the time being EP isn't going to matter. As far as the hotels go i will just stay at Cabana Bay

Hagrids didn’t have EP and you’re right, it was already one of the few rides it would even be useful on. A few other rides occasionally but you’re probably right it won’t be needed. Can’t wait.

I’ll be interested to see how long the Hagrids line takes since it will likely not be allowed to spill out into Hogsmead. So it will be basically the same line distance as before, but with 6 feet between every party. So at least half as long a wait.

Completely agree

Dont forget every other row will be empty. Single seats will be empty so parties will be able to social distance. Lots of capacity will be wasted for a while. I think the lines will surprise a lot of people

I think you are almost alone in that sentiment. EP is front and center on their website and is likely why most book there.

I don't think mac is "almost" alone in staying at RP or any of the deluxe hotels and the EP is not the main reason.

Sure, it`s a reason a lot of folks stay for one night, no denying that. We see it a lot on the boards folks come over from the Disto find out the cheapest way to take advantage of the EP for one or two days. Not denying the EP is a fabulous perk.

However, there are some of us that stay there because we love the hotel itself.

For us, we stay for much longer periods of time and the parks aren`t our main reason to do that now. And we know quite a lot of folks who do the same.

I`m sure there are many who will say they wouldn`t go without EP and of course I can understand that......but there are folks who will still choose to go regardless. It`s a home from home for us for sure.

Just another opinion.

And no, I don't think people will be surprised if there are longer lines. I think we all know the parks well to understand how this will affect everything.

This is just the opening plans. It will evolve over the next few months.

I have a 6/8-12 reservation at Royal Pacific, not sure if I want to go if Disney isn’t also open. It’s a loooong drive from Baton Rouge.

Fingers crossed for you......:thumbsup2

I wont be going while masks are required unless it is some completely ridiculous deal and even then it's not a vacation for me.
I cant see dropping a couple of grand in a situation I wont enjoy.

BTW - CDC now says this does not spread easily on surfaces - I would not be surprised if we may yet another study that say's mask not worth it - especially in hot weather since these things dont typical spread easily in hot weather. Maybe we will see mask seasons until their is a vaccine.

As for staying at the premier hotels without EP - I prefer SF and Adventure to RP and Portofino - I only book those when I need EP.
Id assume they will have a separate virtual que for the Ep hotels - but who knows.

I am really going to miss the single rider lines - but I dont think we will see those back any time soon - but I totally get that

That’s the problem right now, or one of them.......differing and changing advice. One set of experts say one thing, and another group of specialists say something else. And I don’t mean the self proclaimed experts on these types of boards.

Regardless of what we may believe personally, the experts still seem so divided on what is fact and what isn’t.

I’ll be happier when they have a definitive answer, which of course may not ever happen.

Yes, we love Sapphire Falls too.......beautiful hotel.

Universal is good at enforcing rules. Doubt they will just say it's ok to walk around without a mask. Unless you think that people will just ignore it and it will just disappear.

That's exactly what I was thinking...everyone is clambering for the parks to reopen well before it is safe to do so. Now, they are unhappy because the parks are opening with measures in place to try to mitigate the spread of the virus. I think what everyone is looking for is for the parks to reopen virus and mask free. Don't we all? :-)

I think for many the thinking is that since the parks are open everything is normal again. Its cause originally the talk was parks weren't going to open til there was a treatment or vaccine.

I don’t think people are naive enough to think everything is normal at all.

Most people are realistic about the virus and most of us know the effects of it and how serious it is, despite some folks thinking they are the only ones who understand it.

But, most just want to move it along and get back to some kind of life outside our home, however strange the new normal is.

Nowhere do I see folks kidding themselves that it’s over. I’m reading people are trying to manoeuvre and understand the new stipulations for the next phase to begin.

Correct. Different than a FP or anything Universal has done. I'm not really sure how they'll do their version of a VQ, i've never been on Fast and Furious so I don't know how that works.

Whenever Disney is open, I'll be most interested how they plan to handle the boarding groups for RotR

For Fast and Furious you get a notification on your phone to show up for the ride at a certain time. Then they just scan your phone. It’s a lot like fast passes.

I want life to return too and parks opening should give people hope but we still have to keep physical distancing. Its crazy people keep downplaying that.
