Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

No the Wicked Witch of the West is a lot nicer than this woman, in the restaurant everyone who was their apologized as we didn't want them to think all American's were like her.

If she had fallen overboard she would have been back on the ship immediately as the fish would have thrown her back they wouldn't have even taken her.

As for her excursion issues, DCL does have many adult only departures if she didn't want to deal with kids, she should have booked them.

It takes alot of effort to be that miserable in life, I could never live like that.

OMG, I'm tearing up laughing. :rotfl2:

I'm glad she didn't book the adult only departures ... then she would have been on our excursions. :lmao:

Christine...I bet she was the woman who yelled at that poor guy who knocked over the coffee while we were going thru the Strait of Messina...

Nah, that woman was incredibly ridiculous but she wasn't as miserable as this lady. I saw her talking to other people in a normal way afterwards .... still complaining about her coffee but she wasn't like this one. She wasn't that old either.

For those who are wondering, a few of us were sitting on Deck 10 on the deck at the very front waiting to take photos as we went through the Strait of Messina. We took photos through the railings and people stood over top of us. This allowed for people to walk behind us to get to the other side. A woman put her coffee and her book behind us on the deck ... where everybody was walking. One unfortunate gentleman didn't see her coffee and stepped on it. Her coffee spilled everywhere (thankfully not on us) and on her books. This woman lit into the guy despite him apologizing. She wouldn't accept his apology and even said to him, "Now I don't have a coffee!". :rolleyes1 It wasn't as if it was a Cove coffee. LOL Poor guy shot back that it shouldn't have been sitting there in the first place and she yelled, "Yes it should. I was saving that spot for somebody." And for the rest of the time we sat there going through the Strait, she nattered on about this guy and her coffee and continued to call him all kinds of names.

Talk about losing sight of where you are and the fact that you're on vacation.

Wowee

I'm SURE that is the same person!!

That seems to be her usual method - wave her Platinum lanyard and scream at everyone. I really think she spent her entire trip complaining.

Here's a few of her gems:

On the bus from the ship to the hotel after the cruise, the 9:00 bus had the audacity to wait until around 9:30 for the last ones off the ship. Nasty old lady (referred to as NOL) was sitting in the front, and as each person came on the bus, happy with the glow of a wonderful cruise, she would bark at them "YOU'RE LATE!!! HURRY UP!! WE ARE ALL WAITING!!!" WTH? Check-in isn't until 3 pm at the Hilton, so what's her rush?

A family tried to be nice to NOL, and asked her, "Did you enjoy your cruise?"
Her response: "Yes, but I wouldn't have, if I ran into people like you."

At the hotel, NOL demands that the Disney hospitality people get her bags off the bus, instead of the porters, so that she doesn't have to tip.

In the check-in line, NOL has someone hold her place, which is unfortunately right behind us. When we are at the desk, NOL comes charging up, throws some Hilton card on the counter, and screams at a trainee, "You don't have any idea what you are doing, do you?" The other desk clerk quickly says, "No, he's in training". My husband, who at this point can't help it, says "He's in training, and YOU have lost your place, so go to the back of the line!!!" NOL quickly gets back behind us and shuts up, at least for a while.

Later, we are at dinner at the hotel restaurant, along with Tozzie and a couple of other cruise families. Lo and behold, there is NOL again. She raises her hand and screams for the wait staff multiple times (for water, bread, where's her food, how much orange is in the orange/chocolate mousse, she wants her check, etc.) She says, "You need more ink in your printer, I can't read this bill. Is the service included? Because the service was terrible!" She is complaining about not having a BUTTER KNIFE :rolleyes2. She demands the manager, and says, "The food is good, but the service was terrible, and I won't be coming back here" at which, the entire restaurant, which was all Disney cruisers, immediately erupted in loud cheers and applause.

I am really thinking about writing to Disney and asking them to seriously consider not allowing this horrid person on any more cruises, because she is seriously ruining so many others' vacations.

I am so sorry about the luggage. It really seems to be a big problem with United.

I hope they find them and you get them soon. :(

How did I miss this woman? I was at the Hilton, but didn't check in until 5 pm and I didn't eat in their restaurant...but wow...

Christine got it right and she kept calling him a pig...Haylee was sitting there and she was even appalled (even a child knew the behavior was wrong) I started making some louder comments to Kim but I don't think the woman heard me

Lol. People who create drama over a lousy cup of coffee rarely hear anybody but their own voice.

Thankfully, most of the people I met on the ship were happy, fun, lovely people. The Dis and Facebook cruisers absolutely made this trip more enjoyable. It was fantastic to know so many people on board. It really impressed our server that we knew so many people. LOL

It always amazes me that with so many people on board, we always run I to the same people ... Even on excursions. I wish I had gotten the contact info for the Californian Duffy guys and to the Aussie family that I thought were hilarious (they really knew how to ham it up at the character meets and one of them said the most hilarious things when we talked).

This was our 1st FE exchange and it was great. I hope that everyone received our gifts as well. I am looking at the cd case calendar from LLLPATH as I type this, it was personally one of my favorite gifts. We love our experience so much that on our next cruise we are actually signed up for 2 separate FE Exchanges. I was amazed that people were stealing extenders and magnets, luckily ours weren't touched. There was a rather large group of kids from Edge that were causing issues on the ship. When I went to there to drag my DD to the pirate party, the group were just going in talking about how security wouldn't look for them in a kids club.

I missed the crazy old lady as well, then again I missed a lot of people because I lost my voice on the 1st night on the ship which lasted for half the trip. I was trying not to spread whatever it was so I spent a lot of time in our stateroom.

Overall it was a great trip. Now to start planning our January WDW Trip and 2014 West Bound Transatlantic cruise :)

Yes, the little old lady was not pleasant at all. When we got on the bus she started fussing right away. I told her we had to eat breakfast and she said no I did not. Mindy you should have seen Ellen's face when then woman started fussing at her.

The next am going to the airport she was fussing again. Just not a pleasant person at all

Magnets were taken off our door on the 6th floor. We were not happy at all

We did all of our port trips through DCL and all of them had CM. we talked with the Port Adventure staff and they wanted CM to experience some of the ports and have some fun. They had to wrote reports about the tours in order to go. CM loved it. The CM came from youth activities, the store, and performers. The photographers were there. Ut in a different role. Our CM in Turkey was really helpful and played a role in us getting our money back. It was Jeff who played Franco. Every time we say him after he gave us big high fives. For the most part the tour operators and guides were kissing up to CM to ensure good reports

We only saw the Shutters photographers once during our excursions ... and that was the dock at Villefranche. I was very disappointed that we never saw them again. Last Med cruise, we saw them everywhere.

We saw them one other time, by the casino in Monte Carlo. We looked for them in Pisa and by the Trevi Fountain in Rome and did not see them. I didn't look in Shutters to see if people actually had pictures from those locations so I don't know if they were there and we missed them or if they weren't there. I do remember seeing pictures of people in places outside the ship that I hadn't seem them but where that was escapes me. I think one was Monaco.

They went out at all the ports...but they told me there were only 2 allowed out on the excursions so seeing them depended on whether they were on your bus or not. I found that odd ... especially since most if not all of the Disney buses were at the Acropolis at the same time. The mass of humanity with the Disney ears wasn't hard to miss...yet we didn't see them.

Last cruise we saw them at the Colliseum, Trevi Fountain, Pompeii, Malta, Villefranche ... every port we got a photo with them. But this trip .. just Villefranche because they were there when everybody got off the tender boat.

I found it odd that only 2 photographers could go out when so many other cast members seem to be heading out on excursions with us. There's some politics going on I think ... because one of the photographers said to me that they report to the hotel manager and the Port Adventures people report to the cruise director. Hmmmmm

What is chocolate tasting?

I think it was similar to the wine tasting. It was listed on the first navigator as an adult event and I had intended to register for it. We were family of the day (got on first) so I should have done that first thing. Didn't remember until later in the day and by the time I got through the line, it was all booked. So, if you're on an upcoming cruise, check the list in the navigator you get at the port and reserve first thing. I'd love to hear about the chocolate tasting if anyone did it. We just bought chocolate in port where we could find it and sampled along the way.

We enjoyed Ephesus itself, but I am just uncomfortable with the pushy sales technique and it was prevalent in Kusadasi. One jewellery store had a sign in the window saying that there would be no hassling, so we stopped and looked and thanked the proprietor when we continued on. On our way back down the same street, the salesperson in the jewellery store next door came up to us to tell us how we wouldn't be hassled in his store either, that there was no sign but we didn't need a sign, etc. Um, not sure that he realized that what he was doing WAS hassling? :rotfl:

I was surprised La Spezia was DH's fave port - we missed the first train to Pisa by a couple of minutes and had to kill time for a while, then were rushed a bit when we were in Pisa to make our tower climb time, but even with all my travel mess ups he enjoyed it.

In Mykonos we just wandered the village, did some shopping, saw the windmills and ate gelato (which we did everywhere :)). I had originally planned a trip to the beach, but the kids wanted to play in the ship's pool instead, but they did run around on the beach in town and tested the water. It was just a place I could have seen us spending a week and although I would have liked more time to explore the island, everyone enjoyed the half day pace.

Which beach did you go to? That's too bad that it was just OK. Was it crowded?

We went to Agios Ioannis. It was mildly crowded and the path into the water was rocky. Once you got past the rocks, it was really nice. It was very pretty; I think just my group (Mom 75, daughter 5, DH and I) might have needed something a little different. I was envisioning a beach I could walk on (this wasn't) and I think after taking an hour plus to get there, it was a let down. If we'd had no trouble in the am, we'd probably have loved it. If anyone is on the next cruise to Mykonos, I'd recommend getting a taxi more sooner than later. We thought that since we were just going to the beach, we'd sleep in a little and meander off of the boat, grab a cab and go. Apparently there were plenty of cabs when the boat docked but later there was a line and some heated discussions about who was next in line. We waited at least an hour for a cab and there were still others waiting. Hindsight, we should have gotten off earlier maybe researched beaches better and would have loved the town.

I think the chocolate tasting is paired with alcohol such as whiskey, brandy, etc. I don't drink but I love chocolate but it was $30 so I knew booze was involved. Lol. I didn't sign up for it.

Scott and I were right behind you and this woman you are describing called that poor guy worse than pig. Just awful. Then she stated in with her friend on how the service on the Magic is bad and was bad on her Baltic cruise , etc. we were on the first Baltic and the service was impeccable. She was intent on making sure folks knew what cruises she had been on and that she would only cruise Disney because of her daughter. Sigh.

It does take. Lot of energy to be that miserable on such a wonderful trip!

I noticed that there were less pics from Shutters. Sometimes, we could not find them. Then, there was an instance when they overdeveloped the pics so that our hair blended with the background. I made them redo it all.

I was disappointed in this aspect of Shutters.

We thought it questionable to use a black background for semi formal photos with formally dressed Mickey and Donald.

Yes, we were a bit disappointed, as we purchased the Shutters CD and would have liked more photos of the excusions.

I did see some other families with excursion photos, but not a lot. I wonder if they were on the family excursions - we tried to book mostly "adult only" ones.

You were the Family of the Day? How cool! We saw you (and were green with envy) get on. How did you get this?
This was our first experience with the tastings, and DH really enjoyed them. I can't drink that much - I get the "Asian flush". I didn't know you could sign up for them all at the beginning of the cruise, and by the time we got to them, some were already filled. Oh well, we will be better prepared next time!

Oh, and if nasty old lady was a Platinum, wouldn't she know about the wait list? :rolleyes2

Thanks so much to all of you for posting so much useful information for those of you on the next Greece/Turkey cruise!

Can one of you who are Gold/Platinum tell me when the Castaway Club reception was?

Many thanks again!
