She's a big sister and an expedition leader: A party of 8 with a 9 month old September 2016 TR

Sounds like a wonderful afternoon and evening. We will be doing 'Ohana breakfast, so I was thinking we would do the same as far as transportation because we will be doing a midday break right afterward. So looking forward to having that boat transportation, though I am thinking the bus will be best for rope drop at MK, then the boat for the other times of the day, and our car for the other parks.

We need to schedule an 'Ohana dinner one trip because I have seen so many great reviews. The pontoon boat looks like fun! I stole your over looking the WL lobby photo to show my hubby. I hope you don't mind! Oh and I was actually thinking we might do a night swim on arrival night so I am glad to hear it worked out for you guys.

That looks like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. We've rented the little SeaRaycers for the kids, but the pontoon would be so much nicer.

I love your pictures. Did you notice how they are letting the trees get very dense and tall at the shore and in the courtyard area. I hope they cut back some of them a little after the construction is finished. I like trees but I also like the view, too.
We really like the Pontoon boats. They are big and slow, but a really relaxing way for quite a few people to hang out and do something different. We all could have gone, but Allie wasn't excited about doing it this time. It was neat to be able to take our time and get WL pictures from different perspectives on the water. We love the Blue Flag boats, but getting to drive our own boat is great.

It will be interesting to see what they do with landscaping. I imagine Disney is trying to compensate for the loss of some vegetation and help maintain the woodsy feel during the construction. Once it is doone the new areas should be landscaped and perhaps they will go back to trimming stuff back a bit more. I can't wait to be there to find out.

Babies are so funny. They can't figure out how to back up until they are older.
He is funny, since he is way more adventurous than Allie was. He tries things and then finds out what happens where she was much more cautious and would cry for help sooner.

That is a good shot of the closed off balconies. We were there when they put those up. At first they had covered up the windows, too. But when we came back to the lodge later in the day, they had taken down the walls from in front of the windows. That would have been too depressing if they had left them covered up.
Closing off those windows would have made a huge difference. I was disappointed that they didn't leave the seating areas there open, but not having that light coming into the lobby would have been a big difference. I'm glad they figured it out, and pretty quickly too.

I like the gears but the watch would have been better if they had the silhouette on the left on top of the glass instead of the painted Mickey.
Exactly, and there was one like that at the CR in 2013 and I wish I had decided to get it. It is still a lot of money for a watch that isn't even a name brand, but they do look cool. It seemed they were either too subtle or too much Mickey, so since I didn't find the right one I bought a used Apple Watch once I got home, and it has neat Mickey watch faces.

I love the gluten free version of the Ohana meal. They give you great chicken wings and an ice cream dessert with berries and chocolate gluten free cookies. Our grandsons were jealous of my dessert until the server wisely brought them some ice cream and brownies too.
Mmm, that does sound good.

I love the look on Brandy's face. :) We walked into the lobby of the GF during our visit in October when the orchestra was playing, and it was so beautiful that we had to stop and listen. I can't wait until we stay there for real in about three weeks.
Yeah, that look summed it up. That lobby is so beautiful and impressive. It is neat that you will get to stay there. It is on our someday list as well.

The splash area looks like a lot of fun. It also looks like it would be more fun if there were kids to play with. The big slide is a lot of fun for kids, and just about the right size for them, too.

Our kids always wanted to go swimming. I always tell people that the kids don't really care what you do as long as it includes swimming. :)
I bet Allie enjoyed the late morning. :)
Yeah, the splash pad area was a great improvement, and she later played ion it and loved it. The whole pool area at WL is really great, and is one reason that Allie really wants to stay there for our next trip. We will have to spend more time hanging out at the resort, but that's fine with us.
Allie did enjoy the late morning, and I got to explore around WL, and I finally found a view of Bay lake from within the building that wasn't closed off by construction walls.

So looking forward to having that boat transportation, though I am thinking the bus will be best for rope drop at MK, then the boat for the other times of the day, and our car for the other parks.
That sounds like a plan, although you could always hop in to MK for a little bit on your way back before taking a break. We would have gone in to MK that night except we wanted to get back in time to swim. We've never had a car at WDW, but we do enjoy the transportation from WL to MK and the MK area resorts. Connecting at the Contemporary is fun too. We even like going to Epcot that way, although the buses are faster.

We did an Ohana breakfast and dinner on the same trip in 2013, and preferred the food at dinner, but getting to see the characters at breakfast is cool. We really enjoy renting boats, and not being able to do it right from WL wasn't a big deal, although I bet it will reopen after the construction. We're glad you liked the pictures, that's why we post them. I absolutely love taking pictures of WL, because there is just so much to see, and it is hard to take a bad one.
Night swimming is great, and having the pool close at 10 wasn't too big of a problem. On prior trips we swam later than that, but it was ok. We definitely want to plan more time to enjoy the pool next trip to WL, since it was one of Allie's favorite parts of the whole trip.

Your Ohana dinner looks so yummy. I'm a little sad that we didn't book it this upcoming trip but we did book breakfast there so we have the characters to look forward to. I was a little nervous my youngest (4yo) wouldn't be able to sit through dinner there. She's hit or miss in restaurants. But it looks like it went great with your kids. If this trip goes well, we're going to book another in 2017 and an Ohana dinner will be a must.

I love the night stand picture! So cute and funny!

Thanks! We did love the food at Ohana for dinner, and it really isn't a bad one for kids to sit through since there is always something going on. Allie didn't get up and participate much, but there was plenty of opportunity. The characters are fun though, and it is a nice breakfast.

Sorry we haven't posted an update for a bit, we were bust with Thanksgiving, and Marshall doesn't leave a lot of extra time for Melissa to work on TR stuff at work. We do have another update ready, so we'll post it now.

On Thursday morning we decided to let Allie sleep as late as she wanted. She had been great about getting up, but isn't a morning person. I still got up a little after 6:00, so I took my mug and the camera with me and went and started a load of laundry.

It was super quiet down there, so I threw the load in a machine and went out exploring.

I got some sunrise pics of the construction, and could see that many interior walls were missing in the South wing, which allowed me to see tight through the building from above the Silver Creek waterfall.

On my way back upstairs, I went up a stairway and I took it all the way up to the 7th floor (which is Club Level) and found that the door was propped open. I walked down the hall and found a window where I had a nice view of Bay Lake.

Many Housekeeping Cast Members were out walking around and chatting with the guests who were up. I chatted with one CM as I headed back to my stairway, and she asked where I was going. She said that guests aren't allowed to use the stairway, so I'd have to go the other way and use the elevators. This gave me a chance to get some pictures of the temporary Club Level lounge as I walked by.

Then I got on the elevator and headed back down to my publically accessible 6th floor.

He is a rebel! While he was exploring and doing laundry (bless him! I love being married to a guy that does laundry) Marshall and I were snoozing with Allie. Marshall happens to be a morning person though and was up and ready to go before Paul got back to the room.

I stopped back by the room and then went downstiars and got a croissant sandwich and waffles for breakfast. While Allie snoozed I looked at pictures and then brought up the laundry, which took a second round in the dryer to get dry. I waited on the balcony to get a well timed picture of the monorail.

While Alllie got dressed I took Marshall for a walk down to the Mercantile via the lobby stairs, which he seemed to enjoy.

We've never done laundry at WDW but it was really nice to not have to bring an extra suitcase and have nice clean clothes in the middle of the trip. It's definitely happening next trip too.

The crossiant sandwich was a new thing for us too, and is a fairly economical breakfast item, and a nice addition to a shared plate of Mickey waffles. I think we'll do that again too. After we were all dressed and ready we met Grandma and Grandpa on the way to the boat at 10:15. We had a bit of a wait on the dock, since the boat arrived at 10:39, but we were in no hurry and enjoyed watching the fishing boats and parasailer.

The sandwich was amazingly good and it was nice to have a leisurely morning.

We continued our slow pace when we got to MK at 10:48, and decided to just shop on main street before our lunch ADR.

We crossed Main Street and Allie went to try on tiaras in the Crystal shop.

The Watch store was closed for construction, but we soon didn't care about that because when we walked in the art store they had our Dumbo print, just like we remembered from last trip.

It was perfect, so we had to have it.

I was so happy to have found it! I happily gave the CM my credit card and had it shipped back to our resort.

We then shopped a bit more as we made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern, where we met back up with everyone else.

We were seated in a couple of minutes, and they had no problem with the size of our group. The food was good, and the Oohey Gooey Toffee cake (the reason we ate here) was excellent.

It was a great dining experience, Marshall was a little busy during dinner but charmed the entire cast of CM's at the restaurant.

They even gave him a light up pirate thing, which he enjoyed. While we ate the topic of conversation was the possibility of us getting APs again using our ticket credit from this trip and with luck maybe combining the credit we had from the extra park ticket days we had from our last trip. Since we wanted APs for Disneyland, the math could work out favorably if we were planning on a return trip within the year. This meant we had soem quick figuring to do.

We'd been tossing the idea of upgrading our tickets for awhile but didn't think we could swing the extra cost. If by some miracle we could combine our previous two day tickets from our previous trip with our current tickets then maybe the cost wouldn't hurt soo bad.

Since we had helped John and Brandy get golden tickets, we wanted some too. We decided to visit Guest Services after lunch to see what we could do. On our way we stopped and met Mickey, and we used soem of the super paper line passes we had gotten for waiting at Guest services earlier with John and Brandy. It worked out great, and we had almost no wait.

Marshall really seemed to enjoy seeing Mickey, and we all had a great time.

After Mickey we headed out to guest services. We offered for others to go on, that it could be a bit but everyone decided to hang out on the edge of their seats to see if we would leave the window with our golden tickets.

Melissa's Dad has a saying, "Ask for the World, you might get half" Well in this case we got the whole thing. We were able to apply the cost of our 8 day park hoppers from this trip as well as our unused 2 day base tickets from last trip to the Premier APs. This meant that our cost to upgrade was less than a year of APs for Disneyland, and that another trip in the next 12 months was a likely possibility, but not a necessity due to the passes. It also meant merchandise disocounts, which we particulary enjoy!

We also got 6 five person fastpasses for MK, meaning we wouldn't have to wait in lines there the rest of the trip. We then walked to the buses and headed back to WL. The plan had been to go to a water park this afternoon, but Allie was fine with just swimming at the hotel pool again, which saved a bunch of transportation time. Check out her swimming adventures in the next update.

Yay for Premier Passes! And MK FPs! So glad it all worked out.

As for the laundry, how long do you think it all took? Did you do a big load? We were in a 1 bedroom villa at SSR in June and had a washer dryer, so I did a load of laundry every day. It wasn't terribly big but it was nice to not have to bring/buy a set of clothes for every day (or really every half day as much as we sweated in June). Next June, we will be in the studio at WL. We will have access to the laundry (and I think it's free) so I am hoping to at least wash the clothes maybe during our break times. Not sure if we will have enough time for drying (may have to air dry in the room) though. Any info you have would be appreciated. :)

Sound like a chill day thus far. Looking forward to the pool photos. I am sure we will spend quite a bit of time there in June.

I can't wait to see what the floor plan looks like. I would think that they would put in a center hallway and have villas on each side, but then why did they take out all the walls?:confused3

I walked down the hall and found a window where I had a nice view of Bay Lake.
That is a lovely picture of Bay Lake. I can't wait until all the balcony walls are down and the viewing areas are open again.

It looks really close in that shot. When I use my cell phone you can barely see the monorail.

That was a pretty fast boat ride. It is so easy to go MK from the WL because of that boat.

I was so happy to have found it!
The CM looks like she is happy that you found it, too. It is a cute picture. :)

Allie looks cute in the stroller picture. I think the extra morning sleep was good for her. :)

We then shopped a bit more as we made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern, where we met back up with everyone else.
I sure hope they go back to the former lunch menu instead of the all you care to eat feast. We cancelled our December ADR but keeping our March reservation just in case they change the menu back again.

How could you not smile when Marshall is having such a good time with Mickey. :)

That was great that you were able to get the passes. The AP discounts are really nice. Would you ever use an AP discount to stay at the WL instead of free dining? The AP discount for this March was 35%.

The plan had been to go to a water park this afternoon, but Allie was fine with just swimming at the hotel pool again, which saved a bunch of transportation time. Check out her swimming adventures in the next update.
She had a great time at the water park last year. But it must have been really nice that she was happy with the WL this year. Marshall will enjoy the water park more next year. ;)

So are we! And we'll love it even more when next year comes and we get to go back!

It took about 2 hours for the laundry, perhaps a little longer with the second drying cycle. I just did one decent sized load, but it made sure we had plenty of clothes to make it through the rest of the trip. I used the laundry machines in the main building near Roaring Fork, and had to pay to use those machines but as a Villas guest you'll be able to access the laundry room over there, and I believe those machines are free.

It was nice to have a slower paced day, and we had a great time. It is really nice to not be rushing the entire time at Disney.

I wonder the same things. My guess is that it was easier for them to rebuild all the walls since the door openings to the hall will be different, but I considered other possibilities like having an offset hallway or even multiple story rooms. I can't wait to see what the configuration winds up being.

That is a lovely picture of Bay Lake. I can't wait until all the balcony walls are down and the viewing areas are open again.
Thanks. I really wanted to find somewhere that I could get that view, since I missed seeing it from the lobby elevator areas on the higher floors. With more opened back up next year it should be really nice.

It looks really close in that shot. When I use my cell phone you can barely see the monorail.
I used a 70-200 mm lens on our full frame DSLR, and it was pretty close to fully zoomed in there, so there was some decent magnification in that shot. The monorail was clearly visible though, and with the castle in the background it made for a great view.

That was a pretty fast boat ride. It is so easy to go MK from the WL because of that boat.
Yeah, we were a little disappointed by the long wait, but the trip was slightly quicker than average. It was a nice day to be hanging out on Bay Lake.

The CM looks like she is happy that you found it, too. It is a cute picture. :)
She was excited for us too. Now that we have it we have to figure out exactly where to put it. Oh well, at least we got it.

Allie looks cute in the stroller picture. I think the extra morning sleep was good for her. :)
Yes, she was in a great mood.

I sure hope they go back to the former lunch menu instead of the all you care to eat feast. We cancelled our December ADR but keeping our March reservation just in case they change the menu back again.
Oh wow, we didn't know about them changing to the all you care to eat lunch. We had missed that news. We aren't planning on going there next trip, so perhaps by the time we return so will the regular lunch menu.

How could you not smile when Marshall is having such a good time with Mickey. :)
He really did get a kick out of all the characters. We weren't sure how he'd react never having seen them before, but he loved it.

That was great that you were able to get the passes. The AP discounts are really nice. Would you ever use an AP discount to stay at the WL instead of free dining? The AP discount for this March was 35%.
We have definitely considered it. Our estimated meal costs for the next trip are about $1400, so we wouldn't quite break even paying OOP for the dining plan, but getting $1400 in food is still a good deal, especially since we were able to get it with a Standard View reservation. The room only booking would have been right at $3000, so a 35% discount would be $1050. That's not bad, but we still do a little better with the free dining, just because we were able to get it without a room upgrade and the plan aligns well with our planned meals.

She had a great time at the water park last year. But it must have been really nice that she was happy with the WL this year. Marshall will enjoy the water park more next year. ;)
Yeah, we will hit a water park next time, but she really didn't miss it this time. She loved the pool at WL that much! She really wants to stay there next time so that she can swim there some more.

I forgot how the villas and studios have different doorways. Now I see why they took out the all the walls. One of the cast members at the WL told me that they allowed CM's and guests to give input on different room layouts. Hopefully it comes out really great. I love book a two bedroom villa in a minute if we traveled with family again, and the price was right. :)

Allie has good tastes in resorts. ::yes::

We arrived back at WL at 3:11 after an easy morning at MK. We had planned on heading to a water park, but since Allie had so much fun swimming at WL earlier, she was willing to save the bus ride and swim at the resort. This made it easy for us all to be together, so Grandma, Grandpa, Melissa, Marshall, Allie and I all headed to the pool.

Allie's first stop was to show Marshall the new splash area.

They splashed a little bit, but we soon headed for the big pool because Allie wanted to do the slide.

It was amazing to see the change in Allie in the last two years. She's taking swimming lessons and it really showed in the pool. She had a lot of fun going down the slide over and over and over. I also went down once. Marshall liked swimming but I think he mostly liked being held for the entire time we were in the pool.

We played in the pool for quite a while, and got to see the geyser go off at 4:00 and 5:00. Allie also had fun diving for the waterproof camera, which made for some fun pictures and video.

I like the changes to the pool area including the fencing. I think it makes the area safer for kiddos especially for those with ground floor patios.

Before we left we took a quick dip in the hot tub to warm up, and Allie figured out that she liked the slide in the splash area too. She was excited to get into playing in it, but didn't complain too badly when it was time to head back up to the room.

After drying off and changing clothes, we left the rooms at 5:45 and headed to the bus stop.

We had plans to head to Port Orleans for dinner, so it didn't much matter which park we switched busses at. We just misssed a HS bus, so we hopped on the next bus to arrive, which was headed to Epcot.

Resort to resort transportation isn't the fastest, and you really have to consider the journey to be part of the fun because otherwise the time spent can be frustrating. Our Epcot bus arrived at 6:05, then stopped at FW to pick up people at 6:14 before arriving at Epcot at 6:31. Then we walked over to the Port Orleans bus, which arrived at 6:48, then got to POFQ at 6:55 and then did the entire loop at POR, arriving at the SOuth Depot at 7:06, one hour after we left WL.

After walking through the gift shop and lobby, our dinner destination was the Riverside Mill food court. Melissa and I shared a made to order pasta dish and two desserts: cake and a magic cookie bar.

The pasta was great but I think I added too many different things. The magic cookie bar did not disappoint, those things really are magic.

John and brandy got a pizza which we tried as well, and it was really good. We were impressed.

After dinner we toured the resort a little bit, walking by the set of rooms we stayed in last time. The we headed to catch a boat for the cruise to Disney Springs.

The rooms were still there! I still really like POR but Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort by a lot.

We got on the boat at 8:35, but waited for more passengers until 8:48. Captain Ron provided us with an entertaining trip, and we were able to leave Marshall asleep in the stroller.

We got to Disney Springs at 9:06 and started shopping.

Allie had fun posing with the statues at the pin store.

Allie also wanted to ride the little train, and wanted me to go with her. We took a selfie while she was having a ball:

At the Co-Op we bought some new glasses for home, and searched for Tsum Tsums. While we were shopping Melissa's dad called and told us about three employees all quitting at once and offered me a job. Oh the joys of running a small business. (This is part of why Melissa's been so busy. Searching for people, hiring them, and administering a benefits package takes a lot of time.)

I won't bore you with details but yes it takes a crap ton of time and with Marshall in the office I am super duper busy.

I'm still working elsewhere, but you never know what tomorrow will bring.

At the time we decided to postpone worrying about life decisions and stayed on vacation.

Which was good, loosing this many employees at once was a big deal and I was not looking forward to going back to work on Tuesday.

We kept shopping and did World of Disney and the Lego store. Allie made herself another custom set of mini figures until they closed at 11PM.

We closed down the Lego store! It was crazy right at 11 they just shut the doors, they never made an announcement that they were closing or anything just shut everything up.

We bought the minifigures then headed to the bus stop, getting there at 11:17. Allie played on the ground with Marshall:

A bus finally arrived at 11:39, and we left at 11:44. Then we had to wait for a driver change until 11:54, and then finally arrived at WL at 12:12.

It was a pretty late night but the kids were troopers.

We headed upstairs and since it was too late for a Mug refill we enjoyed a couple of Diet Coke bottles from the fridge.

It was a nice quiet (and late) ending to a fun Disney day.

With that we'll conclude our last trip report update for the year. We still have fun from Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to cover, and we will do that starting after we get back from vacation in January. Merry Christmas to everyone and have a great start to 2017!

This is why I'm glad we are close enough to drive our own car. I'd say on average it took us about 20 minutes (maybe less) to get most places when we were down in June (we were at SSR). Of course, MK took the longest due to the logistics of it all so I'm looking forward to being so close at WL this upcoming June.

My boys were total troopers on our trip, too. We probably had them out til 11pm most (if not all) nights. Up around 7/7:30. But we did do the midday break every day and will again next trip.

ENJOY the holidays! See ya in January!

It looks like you had a great time at the WL pools. I can't wait to see what the new Hidden Springs pool will look like.

Allie looks like she had no trouble handling a late night at Disney Springs.

Yeah, we are used to relying on Disney transportation and make the best of it. Usually it isn't bad at all, but some days it eats up some time.

That's great that you found a routine schedule that works for you. We try to do the mid-day break when we can, but often that's when we're heading to somewhere else we want to go, so giving Allie a chance to sleep in in the mornings seems to suit her well.

It looks like you had a great time at the WL pools. I can't wait to see what the new Hidden Springs pool will look like.

Allie looks like she had no trouble handling a late night at Disney Springs.

We are really excited to see the reincarnation of the Hidden Springs pool. They added a beautiful pool to the Grand Californian as part of villas construction, so we are hoping this works out as well.

Allie is our night owl, and had a ball. Fortunately we didn't need her to get up early the next day. :)

A little real life update: We feel super bad that we haven't been doing updates as often as we'd like. Things on the homefront are crazy busy. Work for me has just gotten busier and now with Allie in school and with activities we don't have a ton of extra time. We do however have enough time to plan for our next Disney trip! We have purchased airfare so we are for sure headed back. Stay tuned for more info on how that all happened. Now back to our regularly scheduled Trip Report

I started Friday by sleeping in until 7:25, then getting up and going for a walk around the resort. I got some construction pics and a mug refill.

Then I stopped back by the room just after 8:00 and picked up Marshall in his carrier and Melissa's mug. We went and got some pictures from the Villas then picked up breakfast from Roaring Fork on my way back.

It was nice to have a break and get some sleep without Marshall for a minute. I think a slow morning is essential for our sanity during vacation.

We got a Bounty Platter and a Croissant sandwich. We ate them in the room while Allie slept. Allie was still asleep at 9, so I texted good morning to everyone then met Grandpa Jim downstairs and we hung out while he ate breakfast. Then I went back upstairs to watch Marshall while Melissa got a shower.

Once we were all up and ready, we headed down to the bus stop.

We got on an Epcot bus at 10:29.

It went by the TTC but didn't make any additional stops, which made it a quick trip. We were to Epcot by 10:48. We walked in and after Brandy's security wanding (we joked that he always got picked, and it pretty much always happened) we headed straight to Test Track.

He did always get picked! He must look super suspicious. I only got picked a couple times. They always ask you to empty your pockets and one day I was wearing leggings and cracked up the security guy by telling him I left my pockets at home.

With our FastPass+ schedule it worked out that we didn't have one for this ride, even though it is my favorite. Those of us that wanted to ride it did the single rider line while Allie went with Melissa to get a picture with Daisy.

We met back up in Mouse gear, and shopped for a bit until it was time to head for Japan.

Allie checked out the jewelry and ended up with another pair of earrings. I eyed some of the Food and Wine Dooneys but couldn't decide on a bag I really liked.

We got to Teppan Edo right at 12:30, and only had to wait a couple of minutes to meet up with Grandma Nancy who had headed over from the hotel at her own pace. We checked in and the buzzer went off immediately, so we headed upstairs.

This was a new meal experience for us, and it was great. Besides the nice show, the food was really excellent. I got the chicken and beef, and both were exceptional.

It might have been my favorite food item of the trip, it was just so tasty.

Teppan Edo was a lot of fun and the food was great. I had the green tea cake for dessert and it was pretty delicious.

We still had a full afternoon planned, as we finally make it to our fourth park, Hollywood Studios. Read about that in our next update.

I heard lots of good things about Tappan Edo but we've never eaten there. It looks like it would be fun with a big group of people.

Does it have green leave in it? I've been very curious as to what this would taste like.

We figured it would be a fun experience, but everybody loved the food itself. It worked out great for a group our size because we filled a table with just our group, but we'd totally do it with a smaller group too.

It was a really light cake that wasn't super sweet. Tastes nothing like green tea, I really enjoyed it and I'm pretty sure Paul liked it too.

I did, and other than the color there wasn't much about it that reminded me of green tea, which to me is a good thing.

After lunch we headed out the International Gateway exit and got on a boat at 2:20. We did the whole boat trip, stopping at all the Epcot resorts and arriving at Hollywood Studios at 2:55. We discussed staying at Beach Club for a future trip since John and Brandy liked it.

We took some pictures in front of the park and then shopped on the main street.

Then Grandma and Allie headed for the Beauty and the Beast show and we checked out the Star Wars movie where the animation place used to be.

The Star Wars thing was a nice cool place to sit and nurse. The storm troopers were out when we exited, we just stood back and watched them interact. They really do a great job and it feels so real.

By then our window was open for Rockin Roller Coaster, so we did it with baby swap so that Melissa could wait with Marshall. During our second ride (which John, Melissa, and I went on) it started to rain. We ducked in to Tower of Terror and John waited with the kids.

We hadn't ever ridden Tower of Terror at WDW so it was a new experience for us, while the theming is the same as the old CA version the ride mechanisim is slightly different. It feels more immersive then the CA ride. I enjoyed riding it once, I think I've had my fill.

I really like Tower of Terror, and find it to be just the right amount of scary, and not jarring. It is a neat ride mechanism. It was still raining when we got out, so we put on our ponchos and walked down Sunset blvd. We decided not to hang around for Fantasmic with the kids, so we wanted to work our way back over to Epcot for Food and Wine. The hard rain was letting up and there was a visible rainbow over the parking lot.

I love rainbows, and it was a beautiful view while walking over to Epcot.

On our way we decided to walk through Boardwalk to visit another different resort. We walked by the clown pool, which was closed due to lightning.

Then we walked through the courtyard and right to the Wyland gallery, which Brandy had mentioned wanting to visit. We had never been through that part of the resort, but it worked out perfectly.

We had no idea where the Wyland gallery was but it made us look like awesome tour guides to lead them right to it

They were very nice in the Gallery, and the lady behind the counter showed Allie some very nice necklaces.

After the Gallery we headed over to the Boardwalk Bakery for mug refills. We thought about getting a treat, but decided to wait as we were headed over to Beach Club.

There just isn't a great place to sit at Boardwalk Bakery especially after it has rained so we moved on.

We walked over the bridge and got to explore Beach Club a bit more than we had before. We navigated the hallways and walked right to the marketplace, where we were able to get a table just outside where we enjoyed some snacks and more mug refills.

It had turned into a sauna outside after the rain so it was nice to walk inside in the AC

We explored the lobby and checked out Cape May Cafe, then headed out about sunset to go into Epcot for some Food and Wine treats.

Our first exotic food of the night was Scotland's potato cake, which had salmon with an odd flavor. It is probably my least favorite F&W item I have ever tried, but that's ok we moved on to much better items.

Food and Wine is so neat because it allows you to try new things without risking ruining a whole dinner, I love it. I wasn't crazy about the potato cake but we had some other things that were amazing that I never thought would be good.

We visited the new Caribbean booth and ate a beef patty and cheese pastry, both of which were good.

The beef pattys were big surprise and were delicious.

We followed that with two empenadas (which were amazing), then a pork slider from Hawaii, and finally some Venison, which was surprisingly good.

As we got closer to Future World everyone else decided to head out ahead of Illuminations to beat the rush. We started that way, but decided to spend some more time in Mouse Gear, where we bought Marshall a stuffed Figment. I still have my Figment from my first WDW trip when I was six years old.

He needed a Figment. He still plays with him.

Since Allie hadn't tried many of the Food and Wine items, she was hungry so we went over to electric umbrella and got her a kids meal. We sat and relaxed with just the four of us before continuing our shopping.

Electric Umbrella was a nice place to relax for a minute, the restaurant was dead.

We shopped at the art store, where Melissa found a Stitch shirt. We also saw that they were having a special event with Larry Dotson, an artist who paints beautiful pictures of Disney resorts and other park icons. We have collected his artwork with pictures of WL and POR, so we picked up one of the Grand Californian and he signed it for us. He is a very nice guy and it was great to chat with him.

We really should get those framed and hung somewhere...

We headed out just as Illuminations finished, so our crowd timing wasn't great but we were having fun. We got on a bus at 10:27 and it left full at 10:29. We arrived back at WL at 10:38, which left us enough time to stop at the mercantile for a little more shopping. We bought a stuffed Pumba who is so cute because he comes with stuffed grubs in his mouth. He is still a favorite too.

Marshall was just playing with Pumba this morning. I think he can actually say Pumba now.

Then we went upstairs to our room and watched some of the Halloween Party fireworks before going to bed.

We explored the lobby and checked out Cape May Cafe, then headed out about sunset to go into Epcot for some Food and Wine treats.
The villas building has a billiard table. It is a great place to hang out while waiting for the Magical Express. I am terrible at billiards but that doesn't stop me from playing. ;) The BC and the WL are our two favorite resorts.

We visited the new Caribbean booth and ate a beef patty and cheese pastry, both of which were good.
It doesn't look like there were very many people there that night. Were you there at the beginning of Food & Wine?

That is cute. I can see why Marshall would like playing with Pumba and his grubs. :)

Just read the whole thing. You guys make me want to stay at Wilderness Lodge! The views from your room were so awesome.

Both kids are totally adorable and I love the name Marshall.

I love the way you guys travel with a big group since it seems to work quite nicely.

Glad you guys get to go back this year!

Oh! - tip with the laundry - split the load into two dryers if it's not busy in there. Saves time. We go on short trips and still do laundry since it just seems to make things easier - and we live in a colder climate so summer clothes are not abundant in our closets :).
