Biggest Purchase in your life

My biggest have been home remodel projects. But does that count as "house?" Or does house only count as initial purchase?

A toss up between travel and higher education.

Either the last trip I took or master bath remodel.

Non-tangible would be 4 years of college for eldest and another right behind

Tangible -Trex deck with hot tub.

1) Home remodel. Cost more than we paid for the house 30 years earlier.
2) Our house 35 years ago.
3) My wife's car, 18 years ago.

I guess I don't make a lot of major purchases.

If remodels count: then our first "gut job" which was about $50,000 for electric, plumbing, windows, doors, kitchen.

Outside of home-related costs, the kids' college educations will be the biggest (but that's spread over several years and we're not finished yet.

Our boat - more than a used car, less than a new one.


I wanted to say wedding ring since that has lead to all sorts of other expenses......

Taking out car and house and aside from student loans for college, which to me is different than what we would consider a 'purchase' as it was technically a loan mine, would be our wedding. If you exclude wedding it would be the honeymoon.
