This is Us- Season four

Toby isn't going to tell Kate about the choking thing. Nope. They are taking Jack to the pediatrician for shots next week (remember the doc dropping that line in?), and is going to reference "last week's visit" and that is how Kate is going to learn. Which will lead to even further distrust of Toby (stupidly IMO, but Kate does not have the best emotional intelligence).

It was this past Thanksgiving he calls her. The future Thanksgiving is the one where we see they are not talking to him. I don't know how far we are away from Thanksgiving at this point. I'm assuming it's suppose to be February, like we are in real life, so that is 9 months from now. We see Randall talking to a therapist next episode, would he be institutionalized that long???? I'm thinking not, but maybe he goes just for a couple of sessions, thinks he's fine and in a few months is where he will breaks down and then checks in somewhere. I'm just confused because I can't see any scenario where Kevin would be so mad at Randall that he won't talk to him, especially when he knows what Randall is going through.
It’s not Thanksgiving that we see that they are not talking it is on their birthday Aug 31st

HEY! Back off silver fox Kevin or I’ll come visit you with a shovel LOL

Great episode. I didn’t get that the house in the sketch would turn out to be Kevin’s home. How sweet that he lives in the house that Jack designed. It’s a gorgeous man..house..house...I meant house :D

After the awkward conversation between Kevin and Madison I am now 100% convinced she is now with child. They were dropping hints all over the place. Maybe as a DECOY though.

What were the hints? LOL I must have missed them!

I loved the episode. I loved when Randall said, "Joey Lawrence ain't got nothing on Tobias." Love how they support each other.

Man I hate that Mark guy.

Kevin Hartley directed this episode...or was it last week's? He directed one of them, anyway. :)
He directed the Kate-centric episode. Mandy Moore posted a set picture of Chrissy and herself doing the “are you on the drugs” scene with Justin in the middle and also the scene with YA Kate and Marc in the diner with Justin off to the side.

TLDR. I apologize in advance. House foreshadowing led me down a rabbit hole.

The house in FF was a sleek modern nature oriented house. It was not a Hollywood house.

Kevin enjoyed living in the RV in the woods, and Nicky is with dying Rebecca.

When Rebecca got lost on 40th birthday, she said she needed to go back to her son’s house. The house was in the woods. After last night, I am pretty sure the inside on 40th birthday is like what we saw inside cabin last night. Same general floorplan. We hadn’t seen many interior cabin shots before this episode from the upper elementary/middle school timeline where cabin was visited on the regular. I think a key here is if Rebecca considers the cabin or one close by to be Kevin’s house. (Sorry, too lazy to go back and look at the flash forward 40th bday.) That was the Thanksgiving misdirect. Production wanted us to think “son‘s house“ was Randall’s, but police drove her to be with Kevin, Kate, Miguel and the unseen “pregnant fiancé.”

The facade of Jack’s house matched with entrance and feel of FF house. Kevin’s whole get my life on track by 40 is somewhat motivated to be a man like his father. To have a family like the one he grew up in. He has the means to produce Jack’s dream. Of course he would build the house. I would expect nothing less.

Randall pays cash for a black S class because he can. It’s the best, and he deserves and can afford the best. Kevin builds his father’s dream house because he wants to be a father like his dad and take care of his mother like his dad did. Kate wants Toby to be the same type of father to baby Jack that her father was to her. The Big 3 is the same us they have always been. They change and grow, but people are people.

I think the cabin/dream house and Rebecca’s illness cause a rift between the men of the family. Randall and Kevin both want to be in charge and lead the family as Jack would have. However, 1 is genetic, 1 is adopted, and Rebecca is married to Jack’s best friend who has expressed before there is a distinction between Pearsons and in-laws. We all have family drama. I think this will move from individual drama to full blown Pearsonacolyopse as there is a lot more to the family that Jack, Rebecca and Big Three at the time of the rift.

Now for poor Toby. He has been compared to perfect memories and an urn his entire relationship. Viewers all know Jack was flawed. Rebecca chose to love him flaws and all. The Big Three don’t really consider him flawed. I mean, he sacrificed himself for the family dog. I hope Kate can love Toby flaws and all; I am pretty sure he already loves her that way. I just don’t know if her mama bear will allow any flaws regarding what she believes she and Jack need...

Deeeeeeep ::yes::

I think THIS is very likely to be the issue. Like when Kate made a big deal that her child would be Jack’s only biological grandchild. That was such a slap in the face comment to Randall (AND rightfully so!) and I can see Kevin doing something similar like “it’s my responsibility to carry on Dad’s dream.” Kinda thing.

My "2nd watch insight" -

What Kate said to Randall about how it must have been hard to be the only one who knew about Rebecca almost exactly echoed what Randall said to Rebecca about how lonely it must have been when she knew about William.

I love these writers!

I have just had so much jumbled in my head since last night. This ep was as good for the viewers as it was as an art form. Though the fire ep was necessary, this was much better for some plot resolution, IMO.

LOL. really good thoughts. I was talking about the poster who said she is now convinced Madison is pregnant and that the writers left all kinds of clues to Madisons pregnancy.

Just the way they were joking about how absurd it would be for them to be a couple or to fall in love or to even be together. They broke major girl code according to Madison. I can’t remember word for word, but the theme was how ridiculous it would be for them to end up together.

I don't care about spoilers at all, so I had read this thread during the day yesterday before watching last night from my DVR. So I was specifically looking for the clues that the poster had mentioned that Madison is the Baby Mama and I didn't hear/see anything that made me think that. Her calls to Kate were awkward, but I think those were out of guilt on Madison's part.

I love reading this thread and all of the analysis. I don't have anything exciting or enlightening to add, except I always go back to the writers never do anything that is obvious, so I have a difficult time believing Madison is the Baby Mama. If she is, I will say they are slipping! hahahaha

I also cried when Jack's voice came across the tape. Like so many others, I would give anything to hear my dad's voice.
