Just got a call...

Just had to add my $.02 -

GO SOX!!!!!!

I love it. :lmao:

PS- You guys have the best stadium in baseball! I was there last year for the Mets series, you know when you guys swept us. :rolleyes1 I love it there! I'm planning to go again.

See this is what I needed, comic relief. :thumbsup2

pilferk - Easy killer. :hippie: I think I must have hit a sore spot.

Nahh, I"m just a baseball junkie. I'll jump at any chance to discuss the game...even if it's on a Disney themed board. :) It's a disease!

Well, I'm not gonna start debating about baseball.

And yet......you do. :) :rolleyes1 pirate:

The fact remains... 1. yes Clemens is pitching good. I never said he wasn't. I said he couldn't help you guys. All I heard from Yankee fans was that "just wait till Clemens gets back. We'll be back in it." etc. & you guys still aren't. So it was a joke. Clemens is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
He's doing his part, the Yanks lineup isn't. And we WERE back in it (7 out of the AL East and only 3 out of the wildcard) before the Yanks power outage over the last 10 games or so. In Clemens last 3 starts, they've given him 3 runs, TOTAL...and they were ALL in one game. If I were Clemens I'd stand behind every one of them during batting practice and give em good swift kicks in the pants. :)

2. the post season thing was ALSO a joke. Can't I have my moment?

Nope. Not until you hit 26 championships. :rotfl2:

3. With the Braves & Phillies "breathing down our neck", we were just in the biggest slump of slumps. Loosing 6 series in a row & still managed to stay a head of them. Are they great teams? Yes. Will it be a tight race? Absolutely. However, the mets are not playing like they were the majority of the season and are still gaining ground & I won't even start mentioning the fact that we've still been playing great even with all our injuries we had & still have. We still don't even have Pedro back & even if he comes back with the worst season of his life it will still be a great season and a plus for us.

Lets not even discuss or compare injuries this season. The Yanks have been (especially the pitching staff) the walking dead for the first 1/3 of the season. Damon's busted up still, Dougie got cracked in the noggin and broke his wrist, Pavano....well, I can't say that one's a surprise....heck, every pitcher in the rotation has been on the DL except Pettite (and Clemens, though his "delayed launch" almost counts). For that matter, so has 1/2 their lineup.

But the thing is...the Mets were running away with things until the past 3 or 4 weeks. They looked like they were going to win in a landslide. But now.....not so much. And Atlanta is dangerous and ticked about last years streak ending, and the Phillies are young and hungry (a lot like the Mets, in some respects). I'm just saying...I wouldn't count on seeing the post season quite yet, any more than I'd count the Yanks out quite yet.

On Pedro...Pedro isn't the Pedro of yesteryear. I'll grant you, he'll still contribute (if he makes it back this season). But I'm not sure he's much better than any of the 5 you've got hurling now.

And hurry up and get Ms. DVC Manager Chickie Poo on the phone. I subscribed to figure out what was gonna happen. This keeping us in suspense thing is awful! I've half a mind to call this woman and tell her what she's putting us all through! I mean....look...to kill time we've decended to talking baseball on the DIS! Ye Gods! :cool1:

By the way the Yanks are 8 back in the WC race & did you forget that 1.

Note: I said 7 back in the loss column. They are. Cleveland's played 2 more games...so those two 1/2 games don't count as heavily...because it messes up the %'s. The losses are the tough ones to get back. ;)

we beat you in the first subway series & it was almost a sweep & last year in post season who made it farther?

You won 2 of 3 early, batting against a band aid rotation and lineup because everyone was already on the DL, or heading there. At full strength, you lost 2 of 3.

Season series: 3-3.....played you even. Do you really want to say the AL is THAT much better than you by saying a team that played you even, and did a number on you at full strength is "bad"? :cool1: :cool2:

Can't we just end it with NY has two great teams, one is slumping but has enough money to come out of it & the other playes good even with guys on the bench? We all win.

I'm sorry everyone else, I will try my best not to talk baseball in the forum again. :offtopic:

The Mets are my 2nd favorite team, actually....mostly based off the back of the '86 world series and what they did to the Sox (Wanna see a red sox fan cry? Heya Mickey Fliers: BILL BUCKNER!!!). I like Mets fans....just hate to see the Yanks bagged on. :)

I love Fenway, mostly because of it's history. I'll be sad to see it go (since it will, eventually). That being said, some of the seating, etc just stinks (which, of course, is why it will go eventually). I love it for the feel of the game, etc, but can't stand it for amenities, comfort, sightlines, etc.

Shea, I hate to say it, is a pit. And that apple out of the top hat is so kitschy 70's it makes me want to gag. The new digs they're building looks sweet, though. My mission in 2009/2010 is to catch a game at both the new Yankee Stadium and Citi Field.

GO SOX!!!!!!

Yup, this year, you guys are the real deal. But I'd watch out. You guys have been here before and collapsed after the AS break, and last years string of injuries still has to nag at the back of your mind (and, really, at this point that's the only thing that's gonna stop you guys I think).

So you'll get the AL East this year......let me know when you take 10 straight. ;)

How about those NY Rangers!!!! lol, (that should stir up some comments!!)

I feel like calling MS for you!!!! and getting to the bottom of this intense investigation!

Lets not even discuss or compare injuries this season.

I'm not comparing injuries or saying who-is-me, I'm just pointing out a lot of our guys have been on the DL while we were in this slump. Alou is out & has been forever, Beltran was out, Wright was out, Green is playing with a broken foot and was out for a while, El Duque was out, Chavez is out, Valentine was out with a torn ligament in his knee & needs surgery but is still playing (all those were out out the same time mind you) Schoeneweis is also playing with a torn ligament in his knee, Pedro is ahead of schedule and already throwing BP in St. Lucie, Sanchez is out until next year, & with all that we're STILL in first, is what I'm saying. I mean before all our injuries how many had heard of Sosa??? I'm just saying that when everyone is back & healthy we should be dominating once again. And I'm pretty proud of my team with that adversity we're still playing great baseball.

Now it's time to call the lady before we start talking about god knows what else... :rotfl2:

Missmet- next time you call.... be sure to mention that it is not only you that is waiting to know what is going on here- would ya??? She needs to be aware that there are several others here suffering right along with you... and when we disers get uptight... it can get really ugly! LOL!!!

Have the Yanks really bought 10 straight AL East titles? ;)

MG

No, they've won ;) 9 straight...you'd need to win 10 to surpass 'em.

They've won 10 of 11 (Baltimore won in '95).

Normally, I'd chalk the "buying titles" up to jealousy from a small market team. I mean...you spend money to make money..that's basic business. But from a Red Sox fan?

You've looked at the Red Sox payroll, right? The Yanks are ahead, but....well...you're 2nd. Granted, by about 30% or so, but still....

Just had interesting thought, Wouldn't baseball be a better sport if it was played on ice??? any thoughts? lol, after all they already have bench clearing brawls!,

MS is driving me crazy with this waiting game!

With cletes or skates?

With cletes...yeah, but it'd become a bloodsport.

With skates? Ye gods, don't we get enough out of control guys swinging big stick uncontrollably at small objects with Hockey?

Can you imagine Barry Bonds, on skates, swinging a bat? You'd have to raise the average MLB salary by 10000% to get me anywhere near the guy....

I gave up on Hockey when our Hartford Failures decided they liked really bad storms in North Carolina to our fair city and state.

I mean....not that I blame them (much) because the Civic Center is a hole...but it's the way they went about it that really got stuck in my craw...and pretty much pushed me away from hockey.

I agree, Hartford is so much better of a hockey town.

And Nashville just doesn't get it, the preds should move to north of the border.

Any word from MS yet????
