What? There is nothing in the requirements for that. We had to make sure we could get the time off work. I'm talking with someone now who just asked where our reservation is and he is checking.

No idea. Just relaying what I was told by member services. It could be erroneous. Still on hold waiting for a supervisor. Call is 56 minutes long so far

I'm right behind you at 49! MS acted like they didn't know something was going on, but he is transferring me to a supervisor now.
 
My husband was on the phone with MS for over an hour and a half but we are registered for Feb 6th, we are staying on property but on a regular CRO reservation with cash.
 
The crazy thing is, my reservation number did not work, but the reservation for friends did. I am not on their reservation!
 


They booked us on the phone and said we would get our confirmation by email in a week. When talking to the CM she asked for our res number, how many people, and then was on hold for 15min. She then returned and said we were booked. Hopefully I get that confirmation, lol

Good news is that we know off site have no chance like the Epcot one
 
I feel sorry for the dvc people answering the phone. if you search the moonlight magic discussions there are SO many posts complaining that you should have to enter a reservation number and it should check the reservation for dates and party size. So DVC is trying to do just that. Unfortunately the site cannot handle all the traffic and they are unable to link the 2 different reservation systems so now we have all the complaints posted here. Almost a no win for them. Sophia did just get back to me to tell me i am booked for the entire party on my reservation. They do not have confirmation numbers. We will receive those in 7-10 days but was i assured i am booked.

The only event I've ever been to was one of the very first like this - THE very first "Safari Spectacular". The event itself was horrible (they've learned a lot! :)) but registration was a breeze. When it opened, I called and got booked. And got a confirmation number on the phone before hanging up. I totally agree with what you're saying, but simply can't understand how it gets subsequently MORE difficult.

ETA: And it sold out, so I'm not inferring that getting a spot has gotten worse, though it likely has. Just the process, which literally was as straightforward as possible last time. MS could see whether I had a reservation, obviously confirmed my membership, etc. And they had confirmation numbers immediately. So strange...

Agree the technical team did not obviously think this through with how reservations are linked, etc. They should know Disney fans are going to pounce :)

Confirmation email will take 14 days.
On property, non DVC resort (cash reservation at the all stars)
Called, finally got thru. call time was 1 hour and 1 minute. It was about 35 minutes in when the call got answered. Then another 25 minutes on hold while the CM got help.
Spoke to Luanda at ext 360
 
Just got off the phone with MS, total time was 1 hour 17mins. I have an ASM reservation for Jan. 11th. Bay Lake reservation doesn't start until the 12th. I too got the error submission message probably a MILLION times! I was on hold forever waiting for a supervisor. In the meantime, the representative got all of my information (ASM reservation #, party size, etc). When she finally came back on the phone, she said the supervisor was able to manually book for the Jan. 11th party. She gave me instructions on how/where to check in for the event. However, because the supervisor added us manually, she said she could not provide us with a confirmation number and probably won't receive an email either. I'm happy they were able to add us, but I am extremely nervous to not have any kind of confirmation!

Me too! I'm not going to call in if I won't get a confirmation. Just going to keep trying on the web site. And if it doesn't work, I'll cancel my reservation!
 
I just got mine... just keep,trying..I tried like 10 times. Then they couldn't book it after it let me in saying my member number was incorrect so they suggested I put my email and it went through. Yea!

This is a great event! But just keep trying....

I tried through the desktop and my iPad.

Whaaaaattt??? Problems with Disney IT? I don't believe it.

I also can't even get through on the phone to MS.

I am pretty annoyed right now, and if I am unable to register and it gets sold out because of their typical IT incompetence I will not be happy.
 
And we are booked for the 28th!!!! I was on the phone for an hour and seven minutes (including hold time). This was worse than dining reservations or fast pass!
 
Well, in case it helps anyone, here is my experience --

- Multiple browsers and devices all morning, from 9:00am EST-11:00 am EST; repeated "server doesn't understand" error message, most likely because I'm not at a DVC property. And by "repeated" I mean I counted over 100 separate entries, many of which with cookies cleared between, etc
- I was "on hold" with chat for over an hour, and never heard from a CM
- Member Services phone number was busy for at least 15 minutes straight of repeated redials, but eventually I got through (to hold music, obviously)
- After a 58 minute call with MS, a supervisor manually booked and, like others, I will allegedly get an email confirmation in 10-14 days. (I guess I'll hold off on book a flight!)

It does seem that the "keep trying" messages, appreciated attempts at being helpful, are COMPLETELY irrelevant if you're staying at a non-DVC resort. The supervisor said that it literally will not book online, at least at this time, unless you're staying on points through your membership, etc. So maybe that will at least help a few of you close a few tabs? ;)

Good luck everyone. It's days like this I get sad about the state of DVC, but - at least for now - I'm glad we joined over a decade ago, before everything went nuts.
 
I have already gotten the confirmation email. Some thing was done right!

1 3/4 hours wasted because I never thought a booked reservation without my name would work. I worked so hard last week trying to piece together a 3 night reservation for myself!! Well, we are in, and I hope everyone here gets what they want. Today is the condo meeting.

So frustrating a morning for so many people.
